The part where Mother Jefferson swings towards Lionel's face, and got her hand caught and then they hug and she starts crying, shows that Mother Jefferson did have a softer side. She was just the typical mother in law.

OMG, yes! I loved Mother Jefferson and was so heartbroken when she passed. It was clear when she became ill but she kept working like a trooper almost until she died. Missed her so much on the show but Florence then came into her own and she stole the show just like Mother Jefferson used to lol.

Thanks for showing this clip. Been waiting to see how the crisis with Lionel would be resolved. That was a really tender moment between Lionel and his grandmother, and the embrace between Grandmother Jefferson and Weezy was warm and...um...rather unexpected. We ❤ Grandmother Jefferson. 😊

Mother Jefferson was old but definitely not a saint. She still loves attention, conversation, and physical affection 😂😂😂😂

Yeah... She had two guys in a reasonably short period of time, so she did crave physical attention. That said, she did admit once that at her age, she couldn't really do anything anymore.
