Why is Badgely still the kicker for the Lions going into the NFC Championship game, if the coach is not really confident he can make a 43 yarder to tie the game? Either way, Campbell is responsible. And Campbell has done an excellent job in Detroit (no BS).

The whole RBBC dynamic is gonna change. Montgomery is gonna be mostly a short yardage, goaline guy. Gibbs will get hand offs, screen passes, and passes, with a ton of burst yards (YAK and just pure rushing yards.) He could, repeat could, see 1000 rushing yards as well as 1000 receiving yards next year. Remember, they didn't have a plan for him at the start of the year as they worked out in camp what he could and couldn't do, and he was injured and out a couple games, and STILL put up some amazing stats. Barring injury, he could be 1000+ rushing and receiving with double the amount of TDs.
@danwesterhouse6627

@@aliwantizu Got to agree with you. This guys potential is off the charts. If he stays healthy, defenses are going to have to target him specifically. Eisen is right, this dude is a stud. Exactly, it's the laziest media narrative which needs to die. Their kicker wasn't even guaranteed to make the extra point attempts, let alone a 40+ yard FG outdoors. This is true, but teams have play calls based on defensive look. Remember the Seahawks throwing in the Superbowl against the Patriots based on a defensive look. The Hawks threw an interception and lost the Superbowl. This is part of the predetermined game plan. The Lions lost the game because of a fumble by Gibbs and a lucky bounce to the 49ers on a deep pass. Not because the Lions ran on third down at the end of the game. I didn’t have a problem with the play call. I have a problem with a team limiting their play calling because they are looking at a negative outcome. You play to win, you don’t play not to lose. Aggressive play calling wins games. He is just like his mentor Sean Payton. This bodes well for Lions fans.

Stop! Gibbs is solidly a two RB in fantasy. Montgomery is going to get his but that actually helps Gibbs, not to mention he will continue to develop as a pass reciever. Both Montgomery and Gibbs nearly ran for 1k each (Gibbs just missing one K, Montgomery going over) Committee in that offense doesn't mean anything negative for Gibbs and this is not the Barry Era where one guy does it all anyway.

Nothing guarantees continued success, and continued success could easily be derailed by injuries to key players or any other number of things. But the Lions are going to be a better team next year on paper solely because Brad Holmes and that team around him are going to be doing this little thing called the NFL Draft in a couple of months, where the Lions have - without fail - added 2-3+ cornerstone players to an already extremely talented young roster, in each year of Holmes' tenure. Even if he adds only 1 such player this league, that's still making this team better.

It's amazing how many people like you don't understand math. You get in this mindset and assume what a situation dictates the right play call to be "because that's how it's always been done" and ignore the players on the field. You have no idea how many games have been LOST because of that thinking. The fact is that it was less of a gamble to go for those conversions that to kick the FG's. The result of a play doesn't determine whether or not the best decision was made. It just says whether or not it worked in that exact moment.

that was FAR from the most egregious decision he made.....everyone is so fixated on the 4th downs, but that was his MO all along, it was ALWAYS what he was gonna do...... i said after that game that BY FAR the WORST ERROR he made was running the ball and burning that timeout at the end of the game, because once that timeout was burned he essentially just forfeited their ability to earn a possession back and put them into an onside-or-nothing situation, and once you're depending on an onside kick you've already lost if they attempt that FG you reference, and he missed it, then the criticism would be polar opposite "you go for 4th down constantly, it's part of your identity, but in a big game in a big moment you strayed away from your plan of attack? blah blah" personally yeah i would have kicked that FG attempt (again it's a FG ATTEMPT, not a guaranteed 3 points lol) but needlessly burning that timeout in that situation is the ONE THING that NO NFL HEAD COACH SHOULD EVER ALLOW TO HAPPEN.......4th down decisions and stuff like that are par for the course, can be argued either way......but that late-game run-the-ball can't-stop-the-clock timeout/clock management was absolutely inexcusable no matter what so yeah, Dan is 100% right to have that be his only regret

@@DirtyDLions685if Campbell decided to go for it on that first 4th down because of the analytics and thinking a conversion was a higher percentage than making a FG, then he can be forgiven. If it was for the sake of being aggressive and sticking a dagger into them, then that’s inexcusable, considering he was ok with a 17 point lead before half, but wouldn’t be halfway into the 3rd quarter

@@adventuresofnategabeandzoe the fact that he settled for a FG right before half shows you he wasn’t “going for the dagger”. And please can we not pretend that the 20 yard FG before the half is in any way comparable to a 48 yard field goal…he trusts his offense to gain 3 yards more than he trusts his kicker from 48 yards. Plain and simple.
