it looks like a very young male lion without the mane. Cant be a lioness, because she would have any chance standing her ground against a pack of 20-30 odd hyenas. But who cares, the lion was brave enough to stick around for that long.
In another video the Hyenas abandoned their pal to the Lions and then after the Lions had eaten their fills, the Hyenas came in and consumed what was left of their dead pal.
@@WJack97224There’s „dramatic rescue by hyenas after a lion catches one“ video. A huge male lion caught a subadult male hyena. 3 adult hyenas ripped the lion,s face open, put holes in his back and freed the young hyena unharmed lmao
brilliant, 1 Lioness walks back to the kill and about 30 Hyenas disperse. I really wanted to see a Lion walk into this scene aswell, that would have been interesting.
I think that’s a young male, not a lioness. It looks like the lions had already eaten and were leaving, but he hates hyenas so much that couldn’t resist going after them.
The age old struggle between lions and hyenas being played out. The tactics of the hyenas is to create a terrifying noise with their whooping, wailing and snarling - and then to slowly encircle and encroach upon the lions and their kill. Often, one or two lions lose patience and give chase to one of the hyenas, allowing the rest of the clan to make a ‘bee line’ for the other lion who is still guarding the kill. This ‘shadow boxing’ strategy of the hyenas is relentless with the result that the lions eventually become disoriented and confused, thus giving the hyenas the territorial initiative.
Love the behaviour of the jackals! They seem to operate under the radar! Hyenas and lions too busy quarrelling and fighting over the kill to worry about the jackals - hence the jackals plunder as they’re ignored!
The hyenas bewilder and confuse the lionesses because they never stop going sideways, backwards and then forwards. They’re careful never to present to the lionesses a static target, but rather a moving one, that slowly encircles their enemy.Their yelping and wailing, together with their bobbing and weaving leave the lionesses perplexed. The fact is that the hyenas act as a single fighting unit, and as such are a formidable force. Their tenacity and their strong jaws can do serious damage to any of its foes.
Every time there are videos of wild life filmed by tourists, it's badly filmed, but this time, it's not trembling and it's interesting. Thanks for the upload!
I love how when the Lioness attacks that Hyena the Hyena gets straight back up like "that didn't hurt you bitch come at me!" hahaha Hyena's are tough cookies
Hyenas by a process of mobbing, taunting and intimidation generally steal the meal away from lions. It may take some time, but eventually the lions give up!
As annoying and scared as these hyenas come off i will say this much they are willing and know how to attack from behind as a group. Which is effective just enough to drive off the lone lioness. Hyenas are shit without numbers scared half to death on their own. As well as they should be against an adult lion.
Hi aslimburg, funny it wasn't actually Chris, it was my dad! Will tell him his laugh sounds like Chris. Thanks for the comments, was an amazing sight, watched the build up from 6pm the night before when the first strike was made and mum still fighting them off to this which was 8am the next morning.
Of course! But the oft-repeated claim is that a male lion's pam swipe can easily break a hyena's spine or a zebra's. I've heard it so many times now--both on Discovery Channel's, and Animal Planet's nature shows-- that I can keep track. People need to be realistic when dealing professionally when these subjects.
Lol.. An adult male lion losses against adult hyenas even 1v1. There’s „hyena corky has fought with a male lion“ video. A huge male lion attacked a female hyena 1v1. He tried to break her spine twice and failed. She bit his paw and lip and he was limping after that. She was unharmed lmao
Wow, didn't realize lions are so powerless. I was told growing up that even an entire pack of hyenas doesn't dare tangle with ONE male lion, and that a single paw swipe can break a hyena's spine. A lot of nonsense circulating as fact out there.

This lioness was playing a deadly game, fortunely hyenas were more interested in the food otherwise they could easily kill her, given she was totaly outnumbered.
can someone please get out from.their vehicles and approach the squabbling animals and disperse them nicely instead of taking pictures and recording them. I am quite sure those lions and hyenas will definitely will calm down and share those kill . Just give a friendly pats to them. The worst thing that will happen is that you will just become a meal to them. That's all.
