Great information John. I run a full liquid plan on my backyard and a hybrid plan on the front yard. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Honestly, the liquid plan is my preferred but I've had to use granular SOP to adjust my potassium levels and lime to raise my pH. The new office is looking great! 👍🏻
@Lawncology and to think you didn’t want to start a RU-vid channel... sure as hell glad you did man. Buy a few drinks for the person that really persuaded you to create one. Hell, I’ll buy you a few drinks (if you’re ever in San Antonio) as appreciation.
I really like the bright silvery-blue-green color I get from the Greene Punch. I assume the sea kelp must be helping give it a sheen. I see a similar sheen when I apply SeaK by itself.
I've switched to complete liquid fertilizing this year after repairing a spot in the backyard with the new seeding program. I'm beyond impressed at the results and neighbors have made numerous comments and asked what I'm doing. Now to prepare the flowers, plants, trees and lawn for cicada swarm and the damage they do.
I’m transitioning to liquid... currently running a hybrid program. It’s working out pretty good. I have higher CECs (clay soils)... so I feel like I gotta be careful since the nutrients are not as mobile through the soil like it would be in something like sand.
I was a DIY granular guy! Once I switched to the liquid N-ext bio stimulants I couldn’t imagine ever using granulated products again! Liquids completely changed my lawn game! I feel like it’s more accurate and I get a more precise application! I still use some granular products but not as much!
Great info! I'm a hybrid setup, granular is great for corrective measures, I have acidic soil and major K deficiencies but to go out every week a spoon feed on rotation air 8, microgreen, rgs and humic 12 is great and keeps you more in tune with your lawn than a 4 to 6 week granular attention
I've gone hybrid since finding GCF, and it is smashing my lawns! Customers love the color and the great abilities I have to add more revenue like fireant control and Air-8. Now I'm just waiting to get a 32-3-8 w/RGS & some Fe as a granular from GCF. One can only wish. Show me some mad scientist skills JP and get me the "granular unicorn" my friend!
Lol. I don’t know about ever fully entering the granular game especially if the need to manufacture a component is part of it. We’re still looking for how to repurpose our humic sludge into something spreadable
Thanks, I did a soil test with very low lime 4.20 ph added 23 bags of pellet lime 20,000 sq.ft in NJ. My potassium is very low total N is 7.13 ppm K is perfect!
After running the GCF products for 2.5 seasons, this is my first year full liquid (minus some Kmag once I source it). 8 applications for the season with the "heaviest" apps at only .25 N per app for a yearly total of just under 2 lbs N for the year. We will see how it go's but so far the turf is looking amazing! PS.... I sent you an email with a follow up question from my soil analysis you did, never heard back. I know your super busy! Great info as always man!
Great content John! As you know I love rolling with a hybrid program. My Bermuda loves that Green Punch once I had it grown in. Btw, love that drum kit! I was a percussionist back in the day when I rocked a mullet.
Hey John. Liquids are a great tool to have in the box. Thanks to LCN, GCI, TGF, & GCF I've learned so much in the past few years. I've grown tired of the 2gal hand can & just purchased a 4gal backpack. Can't wait!!
This year have used both granular and liquid on my lawn. I run a full liquid program on my friends and families Lawns. These are all great points you make in this video. Personally I don’t think I can be married to just liquid or just granular.
Harbor Freight $30 backpack pump sprayer was my entry to liquids. Still use it, but now only for my BifenIT pest applications. Check your local Walmart, they marked down the battery Chapin sprayer for under $50
Good info... A day late and dollar short for me. I watched you K video from last yr and this one today.... After paying $$$$ for a potassium liquid spray. Bought some of Allen's stress blend tonight. I've been applying RGS and Sea-K ahead of the hot GA Summer coming.
Well I have suffered a major problem in my lawn I've been attacked by grubs they have really done a number on my grass I'm spraying a kill on contact and then grubX so I'm a bit perplexed because I use Bayer complete twice a year so there that after I treat it I'm going to patch seed to fix it hopefully
@@Lawncology I started seeing a strange pattern in my grass last summer it's been hard to figure it out it's a irregular patterns and is a light green color it grows real tight together will not grow tall and when I pull it it's like it is like hydroponic grass the roots are mostly above the soil it is something I have never seen in any yard i have had so this spring I raked my yard for snow mold like always all the green leafs are gone and the root system is very spars all the strange green spots are still there I've never seen anything like it this year
I just got done night spraying, I love liquids for night time spraying. Alot of the times I can't get out into the yard with Granulars during the day. After I get the kids to bed, its game on. I Just put out air8, and a liquid fert. Finished up around 11 p.m. Hybrid program here. I've been known to be out spraying and praying until 2 or 3 in the morning.
@@jp1419 I used a 15-0-0- with 6% iron at 6 oz. per thousand with my backpack sprayer. My old go to use to be Alaskan 5-1-1 with a hose-end sprayer mixed with 2 TB. of black strap Molasses, and 3 oz of Rgs per thousand. It worked great. I kind of miss it actually. It gave the yard a nice seashore smell. Any who probably way more info than you wanted.
Hiya John!!...great vid brother👏👏...that why you Soilcology 👑...my NPK bus a hybrid but my future ride gonna be liquid fueled!!....all because of PRO 👍..like you, Al, Connor, and others...thank you so much!..FORE!☮️🏌️♂️
Thoughts on making a diy starter pack? It took quite a bit of research and buying some lcn guides, before I had an idea of what gcf products to get and how much for my size lawn. Help us make it easier to give you money 😉
Been doing a liquid program for a couple of years now and my lawn has never looked better. I had supplemented that with a maintenance dose of the Carbon Earth granular product (it wasn't CarbonX, it was a lower NPK product, the name escaping me) just to help amend the soil ... so you could say it was bit of a hybrid program. Looking for an alternative, I would like to continue that. In lieu of that this year, it has been fully liquid.
I started using all liquids last year, very happy with results. My question is the measuring with Prodiomine. The directions recommend X weed killer per quart of water. I use a flow zone 2.5 gallon, how do I use the recommended amount, with a quart of water or with 2 gallons and multiply the amount by 8 for two gallons?
I have been thinking about using liquid fert on part of my yard to start with. Its a little intimidating to me and I don’t know why. I have no issues spraying and praying with your bio stems. Anyways, you sir are creeping up on 20k subs!👍✊ I don’t know what that entitles you too in RU-vid terms, but congrats in advance!
I’m only a beginner but I always thought you only needed a small amount of Nitrogen when applying liquid Nitrogen ? I’m working with granular at present but would be interested in liquid. Many thanks
Great video John. Love it when you drop some knowledge on a brotha! Quick question. I see some people like to do a foliage app with GreenPunch and other like to water it in right away. Which is better in your opinion? Also do I need to water in SeaK or can it be a foliage app as well?
I’ve been wanting to go liquid for a year now. It seems perfect for spoon feeding but I just don’t know how to do it. I read some of these labels and they don’t mention anything about what temp to spray or having to water in product.
This is true. For the most part, liquids are safe depending on the water volume. If the label mentions “foliar uptake” don’t water. For fertilizers or soil stimulants. Watering is ideal.
I think spraying liquids would be more fun for me if I had one of those retractable hoses. The pile of hose really ruins the experience for me since I don't have a traditional square lawn and have landscaping beds and all that in between.
Just finished mowing an hour before this video. The other thing not mentioned is the size of the lawn. Once it gets over about 10k, you're not going to want to use a bank pack or hose end sprayer. I'm also curious about your experience with organic weed controls. What I've seen so far is that some use iron, others are high in what's essentially salt. There's a product called A.D.I.O.S. that is supposed to be systemic killing the root. But holy crap is that one expensive!
Good point but I’d say there’s an even easier way. At the point of a large lawn a push sprayer is no different than a spreader, but fertigation take the cake! As to the organic weed control, I haven’t seen anything long lasting that isn’t non-selective.
I saw some jake the lawn kid videos where he touts how awesome greene-pop is as an all rounder since it has some bio stim built in (air8 and rgs i think?) does 18-0-1 have that as well? Just curious if there’s a low P version of greene-pop
Hello John, Would you be able to talk about injury recovery techniques. I live in south florida and got beaten up by big brown patch on Empire Zoysia . It would be great to hear from you. Thank you
Why does Zoysia require so little N? I find myself in South Florida putting down 6lbs a year and that's 3x higher than every recommendation i can find.
You are the MAN big JOHN . I have a question I have low iron can I use your 7-0-0 greeNeEfFect to raise the needle or use a different product? Thank for the help.
I hybridize. But, still manage to spill both everywhere and anywhere. Even find granules in the vacuum from the sole of my shoes. Go figure Should see how sweet the carpet looks after a N fert
I have a pack pack sprayer that puts out 1 gallon per minute. Can I run 18-0-1 through it without the worry of burning the lawn or should I use the ortho hose end for this type of application?
Can you spray the biostims on top of any granular fertilizer? What about apply same day as GrubEx? Curious how liquids interact with granular prills or if any adverse effects
Hey John, absolutely love how you break it down so even l can understand. I have a battery backpack sprayer calibrated to a quart per thousand. In your opinion , is there any amount of N l can run at that rate?
Have a question for anyone on this thread. Has anyone researched the lightest weight battery-power backpack sprayer? I don’t need any more than two gallons at once. I just now have come out of a back injury that happened three years ago. I want to avoid anything too heavy and risk re-injury. I’m using a tank sprayer now, and at two gallons, I think it would be better to carry the solution on my back where the weight is more even, rather than the lopsided over one shoulder method from the tank sprayer. It’s for a small lawn, 1,600 sq ft total. Many thanks!
Does it need to not have nitrogen? The greenepop is an awesome choice, otherwise, triple super phosphate is available in a 0-46-0 online. amzn.to/3ZVIzn8
Great vid! Only confusion I have is calculating the amount of nitrogen when I’m applying liquid. Don’t know if there is an easy way like the granular form.
Lawn care nut has a video about it I believe. GCF jugs tells you how much a gallon weighs. You take the weight divide by 128 (128oz= 1 gallon) that’s give you the weight per oz. then you multiply the number you got by how many oz you’re using per 1000. They you take your answer and multiply it by the percentage of whatever nutrient you want to calculate. A gallon of 18-0-1 weighs 10.5 pounds, divided by 128oz equals 0.082 lbs per oz. 0.082 times 16oz (16oz per 1000sqft application rate) equals 1.312, take that times .18( 18% nitrogen) and it gives you .236 lbs N per 1000sqft.
It’s the same method: Weight of gallon X percent off nutrient will give you the total nutrient per bottle. Divide that number by the rate per thousand.
Put down one bag of Milo down today on 3000 sqft. Washed it down with some Green EfFect, and RGS. Besides that and my granular preemergent(which worked last year and was skipped this year), I am running straight liquid on my lawn. Got a bag of BalX I grabbed last season. Still trying to think of what to use it for. Veg Garden? My two year old raspberry bush that has yet to fruit? My new raised flower bed? Any suggestions? (Edited: I missed the smell of success... and all that iron is definitely going to get my KBG DARK!)
Most just want to fill in those weak spots. Why does no one mention looking at the lawn and taking an educated guess, instead of some study! I paid lots of lawn people just to put down the standard, which never fixed the problem!
Educated guess is the quickest way to results. Start with growth, a little N to get things moving. If the improvement doesn’t happen you run down the list
Hey john, I'm going to run 7-0-0 at 3 gallon per acre and RGS at 2 gallon per acre out of Perma green on tall fescue am I okay with these rates or should I back off a little?
Hi John, Since you mentioned soil tests, I could use some advice about mine. I took several plugs from my lawn, put them into a bucket and mixed it up well. I sent some of the sample to test site A and some of the sample to test site B for testing. The results came back stating the phosphorus was excessive from test site A and low from test site B. This is the second year my soil was tested from the same places with the same results. The other elements are matching or are similar between testing sites. How do I know whether to increase or decrease the phosphorus? Thanks in advance, Bill
Greetings. First time...long time. Question about the bio stims: Are there any combinations (e.g. Air8, RGS, Humic12, D-Thatch) that I should avoid mixing together in a two gallon hand sprayer?
I'm still interested in the possibly of a future lazy man's guide where I can incorporate liquid fertilizer & push it through my irrigation system 🤔...😆
Look at Terralink Horticulture and Biofert Manufacturing in Abbotsford also Agrisol in Aldergrove, they are BC makers with extensive catalogs of regular, or organic, biostimulants, seeds etc.. and they ship. There catalogs are online, they also sell the ingredients as straights if you want to blend your own whitchy brews. Have fun!
