I was just watching this and thinking what music is missing these days - fun, pure good clean fun. I'm sure there are many that will think of this as just "throw-away", but the un-pretentiousness of it and everybody just enjoying the moment and the music is something you just don't see these days. Sure, the music is not going to tear down any walls or start a revolution, but for three minutes, who cares? Bless you, Liquid Gold - I remember you with fondness, and still smile 30 years later.
Well yes they did. But tbh, Liquid Gold should have had a successful multi album career spanning a lot longer than it actually did. Sadly luck often plays a part in success and on that occasion their luck spluttered to a halt which is a shame. Its unlikely I'd have ever bought an album but there's a lot less deserving who went further for longer than they did.
Makes everything today sound dead, flat and lets face it completely awful. There is no fun anymore in music .....its horrible and you can thank rap for that.
I always thought Dance yourself dizzy was a Tina Charles song for some reason? Now after seeing this I remember the singer who must be pining for the old days
So many memory's with all liquid gold tracks, thank you for the fun music it was always filling the dance floors in my club. Please kick some are and get your tracks on to CD for all the fans who still get up and dance them self's dizzy...
"Substitute" is one of my all time 🔝 5 Disco Favorites: 1) Goody Goody - #1 DJ 2) Alphonse Mouzon - Everybody Get Down 3) Liquid Gold - Substitute ( your absolutely best ❤🤩💎) thanks 4 that gem 4) Curtis - How Can I Tell Her 5) Cela - I'm In Love
Sure, in those days looks didn't matter. Even though the music was cheesy, it was still top notch production by professional musicians. I liked Substitute more, and got the impression that Rick Astley's Never gonna give you up was a nod to it. BTW check out this mashup with Adele ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j9YzLBn2KPY.html
Thanks for posting this - I'm a Yank, and as such, knew them for "My Baby's Baby" and "Dizzy", both of which are pretty pivotal to my year 13 - tis a shame we had such a bad disco backlash, as we were denied "Substitute" (yet we got the sublime "What's She Got" in '83 - a mild chart hit and one of those thisclosetoahit singles that woulda coulda shoulda).....ah, oh well. How sweet that Ellie & the guy are together - and where IS that damn greatest hits cd we've been waiting 30 years for?
