Today we find out what happens when you mix dry ice and molten aluminum. Here’s a hot twist on some cool ice. In this liquid metal experiment, TKOR explores what happens when we face off molten metal and dry ice. What do you think will happen?
This dry ice experiment is also great for those wanting to know how to do other cool things: molten aluminum, liquid metal hacks, molten metal on dry ice, metal liquid, molten copper vs, molten iron, molten lava vs dry ice, backyard scientist, dry ice magma, ice melting science, extreme ice science, dry ice tricks, lava vs dry ice, how to use dry ice, science projects and more!
If you’re looking to try something new or for an activity such as: DIY dry ice project, melting ice experiment, cool science experiments, fun weekend project, ice experiment, STEM project, STEM research, or just a fun project with the family, watch the video to learn more.

The reason it does that is actually quite interesting. Simply put, liquid CO^2 doesn´t exist, it will jump from a solid state to gas immediately(that´s called sublimation) and since it has a higher volume as a gas than when it is solid it will rapidly expand and just blow the aluminium out. It doesn´t really matter at all what fluid you use for this as long as it is hot enough.

The reason the aluminum does that is actually quite interesting. Carbon dioxide doesn´t exist in a liquid state and will rather than melting just sublime to gas. So, if you pour a very hot liquid like for example molten aluminum on it, it will unleash a great amount of gas that expands below the aluminum and blows it away.

The splashes are caused by the CO2 released from dry ice for contacting high-temperature aluminum. This probably the worst way to cast aluminum because of all the air bubble trapped inside the ingot, but still fun to watch.

Another way to "DRILL" a whole into the DRY ICE if you don't have a special drill is to place a cup filled with hot water on top of it. It will "drill" a whole into the dry ice over time.

Really cool video, it reminded me of the lava over ice video from that one university. Maybe try molten aluminum pouring down a dry ice ramp?

What would happen if u put ice into a vacuum chamber, Would it pull it break apart, Or stay together because of the very low air pressure??

Better question: If you put ~1-4°C cold water in a vacuum chamber. Would it freeze?

KIMYOKITTEN I don’t like the newer videos because now they’re making videos mainly directed to young children because as other content creators have found out you get more views from small children, watch his older videos from 2015 and then watch the “glowing heart of tefiti Moana candy” that he made not long ago and you’ll see what I mean
@DontWant2LoseControlByEpilepsy
Dude, you should go on the episode of Mythbusters’ series with Torey, Jamie, Grant, and Adam do this experiment, that’d be epic.
