I guess he want to maximize damage against slark and io plus he's laning with kotl. which you can take almost half of his health with just 2 spells but sadly zai probably played that laning bad.

Reason is because you can't out trade Slark even with max level + stacks in reactive armour. Slark will happily trade hits with you all day while he steals your stats. When against matchups where you can't effectively trade (eg ursa) its best for Timber to level q+w and go for kills to try stomp lane early.

Also with the chakra magic you can potentially do a lot of nuke dmg

U cant play passive timber again slark, ur agi got stolen, zai take timber chain to run from pounch (dodge leash effect), and skill 1 to poke slark.
