Her skin tone in the first picture sure can look weird but the second looks better and u can see how her skin shade looks exactly like her skin in jer childhood photos. It's not that dark
Thai people CAN get to that shade of tan naturally; Lisa herself even has childhood pictures with very tanned skin. Also skin tone is not the only thing when people do black fishing it’s usually paired with other black features like curly hair etc

Well actually Lisa has always had a tanned skin, but not this dark. Its just the editing to fit the concept. She made a right choise. After leaving YG she became herself and accepts her as she is. YG has always white washed their idols. But i can clearly say this isnt Lisa's skin tone. Its just edited.

Before making ignorant comments, just look at the average Thai person. Most of them can get really dark if exposed to the sun too. As a latina, I am pretty pale but exposed to the sun I can get pretty dark. People forget some of us can get quite tanned, there is more to the world than just being white or black, there are different races you know? 🤭
This is actually also the case for Southern Chinese people (i come from a thai and chinese mixed family and most of my fully ethnic chinese fam members are browner by skintone too, and do not have the skintone that most people ASSUME all east asians have, people forget that china is huge and therefore has more variety in skintone). Same as southeast asia , as people there go from natural light skin to dark skin, theres no TYPICAL AND ONE AND ONLY look southeast asians have. Facial feature wise many SeA can also look more east asian while others dont. There is overall no one and only look thais and other southeast asians have. However im not surprised, ppl still have too many stereotypes , not only about southeast asian but also east asias ppl especially china in particular when it comes to looks.

But looking at her original skin tone, the shade she would end up being if she fully tanned would be probably be around 5 shades lighter than the shade she is right now. Tanning has limits y’know. i mean, it clearly isn't natural. i see blinks defending her, saying it's natural by comparing it to one photo of her as a child (her dressed as a princess on stage), and it's always this ONE photo bc the lighting is darker, making her look darker. even if the photographer's "style" is making people darker, that's literally the issue. it's funny seeing people use this as a defense when it's literally the definition of blackfishing. pushing the blame onto anyone except lisa (the photographer, in this case) doesn't apply given that lisa (her own company, her own management) would have hired them to take these photos given their style.
Blackfishing would mean she had all the intentions in the world to look black. Yes, this isn't her natural tan, but i think the exaggerated tanning is more of a shade towards the constant whitewashing she experienced as a kpop artists. I see this as Lisa liberating herself from the kpop concept by showing off what Southeast asians actually look like. Southeast asians are also people of color. The concept of tanning has somehow disappeared. I don't know why or how but people just forgot that people who are born near the ecuator can usually have pale skintones but tan (the Portuguese, Spanish, North Italians, Turks, Vietnamese, etc) due to living in places exposed to UV light. There's actually a story of a Korean woman born to Korean parents in the Philippines who was tan and moved back to SK, and had to deal with comments about her mother being a low class worker, a prostitute, a bathroom cleaner, until her school friends saw her mom, and until her tan eventually faded.
She’s not naturally this tan but southeast Asians have the ability to tan that dark too. I’ve seen it before and I believe it bc I am southeast Asian. My cousin is paler than her and when we went on swimming lessons in an open pool you best bet her skin got dark like that too. Her natural skintone was actually lighter than this (before her debut) however in soitheast asia people go from natural paler skin up to natural very dark skin(this is even the case for enough South chinese people) so its kinda weard that people call ot blackfishing when literally enough people in southeast asia and several south china DO HAVE NATURAL browner skin. There is NO ONE AND ONLY look thais or any other southeast asians have. SEA go from naturally light skintone to dark skintones. Some of us look closer to east asian and some dont , since SEA is heavily asian mixed with east ,southeast and partly south asian. Hence the diversity. Even a lot of south china people have naturally browner skintones but people see too many on tv only and thats how you get Stereotypes (since most ppl assume all east asians are pale by skintone, even tho EVEN THAT is not entirely true). Most of my full ethnic chinese fam members (since our family is also part thai and some who are half thai half chinese, anyways i was particularly referring to my FULL chinese family members) have the same skintone as lisa in these pictures. In SEA its diverse from light to dark skin, same here in South china we have actually many chinese who are naturally brown by skintone. People have too many stereotypes on us both east and southeast asian but for east asian especially china as skintones can highly vary here too , however theres no one and only look for SEA but in fact its the same for china in particular. People should also have a look at Jackson wangs Dad, hes literally a brown skin (similar skintone to lis in this picture) man and doesnt even look typical chinese, yet he IS chinese.

I don’t know if she was this dark or not before debut. I’m not going to cast judgement until I find this out for myself. Edit: I found one photo where she was tan, but definitely lighter than these photos. I’ll definitely blame the photographer, since they are the ones who edited the photos. Lisa’s not at fault here.
Even if her tanned skin isn't this dark, she's tan. She's a POC woman. It's very obvious that it's just the editing because of the highlight/shine on the images. I will ALWAYS be the first to call Lisa out for culturally appropriating the black community and faking that AAVE accent, always always always, but she's tan. That photo isn't even black, it's brown. She can be called out for black fishing vocally in BP music but def not this!! She's showing a lot of Thai pride in this comeback and I think it's wonderful.
As an Indonesian, living in France, I have light skin (especially after being indoors a lot during winter) that can turn super dark in just 3 days during the summer holidays! So while the photographer is probably doing a more ‘tan’ filter etc, it’s ridiculous to call a Thai girl not naturally dark. She was probably lighter as Black Pink due to make up plus the SK standards made sure she is protected from UV a lot, but since she’s been free lately, she might have totally change her ‘in the Sun’ regime!

I'm not gonna say it was blackfishing, but what I am gonna say is that if it was slightly tanned through edit or unnatural modification intentionally, I personally wouldn't be surprised. Ever since the end of 2nd Gen, filtering for pale skin in K-pop has always been prominent to a point where almost no idol in this day and age walks around without a photoshop on their skin tone and many idol's have had instances where they tanned themselves for aesthetic/cultural appropriation. And I doubt Lisa's management would change that just for a Western appearance. I'm not gonna say that she's not naturally tan, but I'm saying IF she was edited by other management to make her look more tan, I wouldn't be surprised. I've seen this photographer's other works, and I don't see his other clients being this tan. That also doesn't mean I think Lisa is at fault in any way, shape, or form, and I don't think she should be blamed for something that she most likely doesn't have control over.

If you take a look at the photographers past works you will see that all the people in his works are edited to have a darker skin tone cause that’s just his style of photography. He worked with celebs and idols like Robert Patterson and HongJoong from ATEEZ, y’all should seriously do some research before throwing allegations all of the place

Black fishing for SUREEEEEEEEEEE even if it’s the editor, it has to go through Lisa first. The colors on the other examples shown are more saturated and vibrant, but for Lisa, it looks normal and no other color looks as severely edited as her skin
