New subscriber thanks to @DigPlantWaterRepeat. Sometimes I struggle separating / lifting my little blocks. Seeing your wooden stick makes me think to grab an old metal spatula that’s no longer used. This is very informative. Thank you.

This was such a perfect video to see at this time! About a week ago I started a bunch of flower seeds in the 3/4 inch blocks. This is my first year trying any kind of seed starting and what really made me try it was hearing Lisa on the let’s grow girls podcast. I remember her saying that she just did most of her starts in the 3/4 and rarely went up to the 2 inch so a couple of months ago I just ordered the 3/4 from lee valley and decided to give it a try. But just tonight I thought maybe I should just order the 2 inch because these little guys are going to get bored in these tiny blocks but of course wouldn’t you know the 2 inchers are now sold out at lee valley so I start panicking. Funnily enough one of my best germinators was celosia and the first thing I see on this is are happy little celosia seedlings, so I guess I’ll just stay the course. Thanks Lisa!

I have to ask... does it not make more sense to plant the tomatoes in the bigger block from the get go?

How do you grow eucalyptus? Are they cool hardy annual?

John Repko thanks! I just ordered one from Lisa and I’m going to try and see how it goes. I’m in zone 7b-8a. Can eucalyptus be a house plant?

How exactly do you water the 2” soil blocks? I realize it’s probably from below but about how much water and how long do you leave it there?

Why not just start in 2” block?

It is super easy to keep the small block evenly moist and warm that generates such good sprouting rates.
