Amen to that! Lisa's "Hula Hana" performance, hands down, unexpectedly turned out to steal the show with the very BEST 2 &1/2 minutes of song and footage of the entire "Dirty Dancing" film (in my opinion!)
Saw , Dirty dancing for first time in years. And this song seems to be stuck in my head, every now and then I play it on my phone. Great song and movie.
Bernadette McInerney It's an awesome song and very intelligent. First thought it must be a traditional, or at least based on. But it's not her singing here, right?
"brenda book" It sounds like some traditional "island" song that dates back decades before Dirty Dancing like a Luau song such as The Hukilau Song. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Jack_owens_-_hukilau_song_sample_1.ogg
@@bernadettemcinerney7284 : Just to be clear: it was indeed written and originally performed by the actress who sings it in the movie (Jane Brucker, playing "Lisa Houseman"), but the person singing *this* version isn't her. Update: according to the description, the singer is somebody named Isabella Calthorpe.
It’s supposed to be cheeky like that with slight double entendres 😜 waggle as in “to set tongues wagging” (meaning to cause gossip), but the way it’s sung is deliberately misleading with a “ck” sound - a bit like whack (as in the expression “to whack off”) 😆 It makes you stop to listen again to make sure you heard what you think you heard 😜 Same with “shake her grass” 😂 So you can hear the ending as “you can waggle while I walk away” (as in, you can gossip/talk about her all you want as she walks away) OR you can hear it as “you can whack-le while I walk away” (as in, you can “go _entertain_ yourself”, because she’s not interested and she’s walking away… unless of course you can bring her one of those gifts she mentioned 😜👌🏻).
