I love how in comparison Dice holding two severed heads filled with dynamite and the others in their battle stances Sindy just looks like he’s ready for a surprise party
i like how theres kind of a trend between all chunks of 3 in the 9 warlords. The painful warlords, buff, hawk, and han were men concerned with territory and using their gangs to keep power and bring an influence. Hence, they are all flashy and concerned with self image. The joyful's first three, mr beautiful, vega, and lardy are all people who keep olathe in tact. Transportation, land, and peace. And thus, they all are humble in design. Even the flashy vega is nothing on hawk hollywood. And the top three in joyful, big l, sindy and dice, are all men who have been through some shit. They are all imposingly tall, and their appearances show theyve got nothing to prove but theyre gonna prove it anyway. Dice is the perfect front for what one of the strongest men in the world should look like. He is terrifying, hulking, and berserk. He is a tough motherfucker, and he isnt afraid to show it. Sindy is a guy littered with battle scars, even before he was hung. His body has been demolished by all kinds of battles, yet he carries on... and big l... is big l
Fun fact: I think his look might draw from pro wrestler Jim Hellwig, who wore the very same black face paint and lipstick in his early career as a tag team wrestler, and who famously had big mangy hair in his later stint as the (ultra-jacked) Ultimate Warrior in the WWF. Dingaling has a strong affinity for mid-80s wrestling in particular (for example, tag team the Road Warriors appeared in both LISA and Air Marty), so that's just a theory... But we're overlooking the most important part! We can now see Dice had the same body type as Crush Mahone (the guy who ambushes you between area 1 and 2 in Painful), which suggests they were related after all.
@@thetarr2 yeah, I feel like he's too 'overkill'(?) with the heads, spikes and screaming in the air. Vegaful's dice looked weaker and calmer but was more threatening because of it
@@albertomecanicaslocassergio yeah, almost all of the warlords seem a lot calmer, however Dice is probably on Joy during this fight, so it makes sense he's high off his ass. even then i still like Dice's design more
The pause in the music with the heavy breathing at 2:48 into that INSANE breakdown with the ethereal howling and pounding drums in the background goes so hard, W2D popped the fuck off with this one
Hawk Hollywood, the reckless actor. Han Tsunami, the careless yakuza. Buffalo Van Dyke, the impulsive quarterback. Vega Van Dam, the prideful wrestler. Lardy Hernandez, the last truck driver. Mr. Beautiful, the kind leader. Dice Mahone, the Joy addict. Sindy Gallows, the Mutant killer. Big Lincoln, the wolf-masked man. Nine remain.
@@Bacxaber since dingaling confimed that every animal 'mask' guy in olathe was trained by big lincoln, so or it is an experiment trying to make a super soldier or some magic shit from big lincoln or they are from the same family or expecies
I don't know what else to say about this song.. The creepy haunting atmosphere as you fight the ghost of the leaders, wolves(Big Lincoln?) Howling and panting in the background, and constant screeching. A perfect secret boss theme.
Hawk Hollywood: former actor, bearing the same make-up of ledger joker and packed with joy Han Tsunami: former yakuza boss. Buff Van Dyke: former quaterback, demmed his men own too weak to be part of his team. Vega Van Damm: a middle aged man acting as a wrestler, which ended out as a (slightly) less insane and more dangerous version or hawk hollywood Mr. beautiful: a pacifist man, bearing a uncanny resemblance to the leadee of a cult and terrorist organization Lardy Hernandez: the last of many brothers, a truck driver capable of dual wielding assault rifles. Dice Mahone: psycothic joy user, used to juggle human head filled with lit fireworks. Sindy Gallows: former slayer of joy mutants, neither the arrows or the rope on his neck were able to stop him Big Lincoln: If peak Undertaker was a furry.
@@rasulaakhmetov4957 There's been a little from the dev, like how he's extremely religious and gives everyone he kills a burial outside his hideout, and how he wears his mask because "it's easier to be true to yourself if nobody knows your face". Also he's the one who trained Tiger Man.
@@phyllotaxisHe also picks up corpses left around thanks to all the fighting and buries them, so the field of graves outside his house aren’t all of his doing.
Never did I think I'd find a LISA song I'd like more than The End Is Nigh. Sure, Sindy and Lincoln's themes come _close,_ but The End Is Nigh reigned supreme. Needless to say, I stand corrected. Getting to see Dice Mahone and Sindy Gallows in their prime adds to it.
Honestly, I still like The End is Nigh better, but this is definitely close for me. Edit: Ok nvm I was wrong I listened to it again and it sounds way better than I thought
There's a theory I have about the Joyful music that still holds water even with this song. When a song has a lot of aggressive sampling and remixing (666 Kill Chop, Homeland Hustle, Mouth Wide Open), it's Buddy trying to put up a tough front as she fights perverts, weirdos, and shitheads. But when the instruments start sounding much more natural, real, and like they could be performed by someone with minimal remixing (The Big Girl Cometh, He's My Dad, and LOVE), it's Buddy realizing she might be in over her head, feeling fear trying to halt her actions. She feels the actual fear of death and fights through it despite the daunting task of having to kill a mutant or a hallucination based on her familial trauma.
That even ties into the use of Buddy's actual theme and the recurring leitmotif of Voices (both the hum and the vocal version)! Holy shit you might be into something.
I especially like how the start of this song sounds like heavy breathing, it lines up perfectly with what you're thinking, even if it's just a hallucination buddy at this point is SERIOUSLY out of her depth
Seeing Buffalo Van Dyke among one of the ghosts, knowing that at some point was part of Brad's gang makes me think that in the final battle against the Rando army, Brad actually ended up killing his entire team on the spot.
yeah brad killed him after he started hallucinating his friends i think. he started tripping out from the joy because he was finally feeling emotion and thats what triggers the transformation so he probbaly killed buffalo in his rage
Whether or not brad killed his party members is kind of irrelevant because they are probably all dead anyway shortly after the events of the game. Most of then have nothing in common and probably hate eachother so now that Brad is dead they would all go they're separate ways and probably end up dead shortly after from the harshness of the wasteland.
Despite that, I still headcanon that Terry is somewhere out there in Olathe, wandering around. ( i know his hint village was empty and that implied his death, but i'm in denial lmao)
I'd like to imagine that Big Lincoln is howling along with Dice screaming and Sindy is just watching in confusion and embarrassment like "really? these are the guys that rival me?"
i mean.. matching mike in power is one hell of a feat, and carrying 2 heads filled to the brim with dynamite is pretty fucking cool, you gotta admit that its pretty-motherfucking-cool
I like to imagine the 6 warlords who live at the start of Joyful represent the 7 Deadly Sins, when Buddy is added. Specifically... Vega - Pride - Focused on his looks and making himself look good. Mr. Beautiful - Sloth - The only warlord who doesn't fight until you push him hard enough. Lardy - Gluttony - The girthiest of the warlords, and his skill gives you free food and other items. Dice - Greed - His gang has gaudy outfits, he has a gambling theme going on, and he had a "glam rocker" look before mutating. Sindy - Envy - His gang dresses almost entirely in green, and they turn against him because they envy the mutants, believing them to be the inheritors of the world. Big Lincoln - Wrath - The strongest warlord, and certainly very angry looking- furthermore, he's the most religious, and thus akin to "wrath of god," in a way. Buddy - Lust - She lusts for power and freedom, and kills anyone who would take that from her.
@@ImFangzBro Unless you have a power feitsh and are actively aroused by power, no "Lust for -thing-" is a newer phrase that doesnt really make sense, people changed the meaning of lust. It does not mean want, it means inherent sexual desire
From the creators of: "in hollow knight, if the boss have it's name covering the screen, you're screwed", In Lisa, if the music have a drop beat YOU. ARE. F U C K E D
Aggressive, disturbing, eerie, exciting... it's so hard to create song to make a person feel multiple things at once. This is one of the best battle tracks in video game music ever made. Period.
An absolutely insane beat. I genuinely didn't think the original ost could be topped, having masterpieces like Summer Love or The Highway King. But this has done it. I can confidently say this song is diabolically good, and has topped all other soundtracks by Austin. It's raw, unnerving, tense, creepy, evil, weird, and an absolute banger.
Gosh i just can't resist returning back to this amazing track! Like always, the music itself have no words, but it's like you can still understand a language in all that! It's beautiful!
DAYUMN austin! He cooked up a 3 course meal with this track. Goes unbelievably hard, and dice mahone is sick as hell! Love these games. Hope to meet austin someday.
I think we all know the real reason Lardy/Fardy is up front instead of big Lincoln. Lardy/Fardy survived more rounds of Russain Roulette than a n y o n e in Olathe, even survived the double whammy round to unlock buckets!
I never heard the "don't leave us!" line. Only "are you just going to sit there?" when I had to heal too many turns in a row or got silenced lol. People are saying you can run from the battle when that happens? Does it reset anything or does it count as a victory?
It fully counts as, well, finishing the encounter at least, and seemingly has no particular effect on the ending or anything that happens. I think you have to not deal any damage at all?
ideally, drink whiskey before going in, pacify immediately, then try sleep bomb, vega's flash to blind them, use wolf stance when you feel youre going to get pummeled, play around pacify and you'll get it eventually
@@kingofboos_4468this was patched in the new updates, they made it so that hawk and all other warlords ignore your sleep bombs, killing you in one combo.
If anyone else is still wondering, remember you can still use your Warlord skills. Stuff like Pacify, Second Wind, Wolf Guard or whatever it’s called, and probably the blind (I didn’t use it so unsure how good it is or if it’s even AoE) are all VERY helpful.
try and beat every fight possible before this without buddy dying so you can have maximum expiereience and go into the battle with behead unlocked so you can do much more damage after landing a good wolf stance. also stockpile your firebombs, you only have a certain amount the whole game
Man this slaps so hard but the fight itself is even harder. I spent about 5 hours and over 100 attempts and got nowhere. I legitimately think this fight is bugged to be impossible as of right now because Hawk's AI is broken due to certain internal values not being reset properly upon a loss/save file reload.
You can win through saving up all the diesel firebombs throughout the game + stockpiling a lot of horse jerky.Just rotate between using the move that lets you survive a death, pacifying, healing, and throwing fire bombs. I managed to beat it joyless doing this (In fact id recommend doing the entirety of the game joyless as its required for this fight to be unlocked as far as I know and selling them can let you afford more jerky). Even if you get silenced it doesn't stop warlord skills.
@@deceptiveauto trust me... I've tried numerous things, including the strategy you have listed there. The issue is that when hawk hollywood starts using his crush heart skill it does more damage than anything else in the fight, and he never stops using it, even while *asleep.* It does so much damage, in fact, that I even die in one turn from full health while *joyed.* The best strategy I could come up with was equipping the old sock for the extra evasion that stinky gives and using the glare skill that blinds every enemy but Lincoln, always. From there I either start decapitating the most dangerous target (hawk or malone depending on who fucked up my last attempt) and if I get low I pacify into heal into re-blinding everyone. If I'm silenced I will use firebombs instead of decapitating, rince repeat intil hawk starts using crush heart and then I immediately die within 2 turns because it simply does too much damage and cannot miss.
@@hdckighfkvhvgmk doesn't crush heart do like 500-600 damage? i think it's a quarter of your health, nothing to sneeze at ofc but nothing to get 2 hits then again, i yoinked rando's belt buckle which really buffs defense so i might be skewed on this, it might be beating my ass on the front of not getting enough status effects on the warlords
@@asperRader In this fight it does like 700+ damage and inflicts bleed. While crush heart itself isn't a 2hko it seems that all other warlords also decide to go apeshit with their strongest attacks at that point. Also belt buckle is pretty useless in this fight since Lincoln inflicts wary. Out of desperation I tried a couple of attempts using joy but still died to crush heart spam. I also discovered that he only uses it if I go non-pacifict, though I know it's still bugged because I have seen others do it non-pacifist with no issues because hawk never used crush heart.
Can’t tell if I’m going crazy, but I swear the screams used in this song sound like they’re trying to scream out “BRAAAAAAAAAD!” Or something resembling to it. That or I’m looking too hard into it.
i like to think of sindy as a simple man, no nonsense. none of the flair of some of the other warlords. No makeup, no crazy moves, wolf heads, none of the theatrics. all he wears is a vest and some pants because its all he needs to kick your ass.
dont get how people are whining so much abt this version of the game. corporate censorship sucks and all but the great new shit absolutely outweighs the negatives that came with this update, and it’s not like corporate censorship is gonna end with a realtively unknown indie anti-rpg game so why focus on it so much? just enjoy the positives lol
@@moderndayouroboros Exactly. Don't blame the developer or the team, blame the shitty corporation with a Puritanical stick up it's arse that forced them to make the chances in order for the game to be published on *that specific storefront.* The way people act you'd think the censorship was on *all* versions of the game rather than just the Playstation/Sony version.
I definitely wouldn't recommend the PlayStation version of the games, the censorship kinda ruins what the vision Austin was going for. I tried the Switch version since I had store credit to burn, definitely is the best way to play the games if you wanna play it on console.
just get it on pc lmao the switch is created for people who are under 18 due to the main catalogue of games being made by nintendo (which all the kids know is mario) so theres a good reason its censored
It's cuz these days days people are obsessed with starting needless discourse every time they dislike an aspect of a series. It's honestly getting pretty annoying. People need to learn you don't have to start discourse about every single damn negative opinion you have on a series you're invested in. We're definitely living in an era of people being unhealthily obbsessed with starting discourse.
El Spoiler fuera de contexto fue una patada pero al menos ya se como se ve el Dice canon Quiero saber si esto es una especie de batalla secreta o no, aun no re juego Painful
It's the most cryptic shit imaginable I'd highly reccomend you look over the reddit guide unlike the other secrets in the games these ones are ARG tier level obscure an example is go to a boss you fought last time click all of the rocks next to where he is go to his main room then press interact where he is to then press interact on a grafiti on the wall
