I came here after Lisette mentioned that she was mentored by Mirella Freni for her Susanna.. this is such an incredibly beautiful and heartbreaking rendition of the aria. I can't imagine anyone better who can carry on the torch than Lisette. She is such an inspiration to us all and is the future, and past, of opera. Someone who was taught by the masters and will continue the tradition.

She is unbelievable. I´m coming to the Opera 28 years ago & I never I´ve seen a soprano like Her. Not Netebko, Not Gruberova, Not gheorghiu , even Not Damrau ( AMAZING COLORATURA´S SOPRANO, AND MY FRIEND, BTW ) . Lisette is the New Callas. And it´s not only my humble opinion. People with 50 years of Opera´s on their backs have told me the same.
I'm inclined to agree with Ana Leigh's opinion. This is definitely one of the best, if not THE best renditions of this gorgeous aria. Lisette's beautiful voice, not to say stage presence, charm and personal beauty, are perfect for this role as they are for so many others. It's an outrage that the Met continues to underuse her by pigeon-holing her as a Lindemann Young Artist while she is so manifestly much closer to being a true world superstar. (I just saw Rosenkavalier and would have loved to see Lisette as Sophie. Also, why wasn't she on the roster of the 50th Anniversary Gala?) It reminds one that "no prophet is accepted in his own hometown" AKA "Santo de casa no hace milagros" GO LISETTE!
This is indeed one of the best renditions of this aria that I've heard (and I've heard at least 100 different interpreters singing it). Fantastic singing and musicality!
The negative comments at the bottom of the list were undoubtedly made by people with tin ears. I have been a die-hard Beverly sills fan for 50 years. I think Beverly passed her magic to Lisette. I am sure that hearing Lisette live is akin to hearing Beverly live and Beverly live was unequaled. Brava. I am sold!

For me for many years the benchmark performance of this aria has been Lucia Popp with her flawless legato, but Oropesa matches her. Susanna is one of the longest roles in all of Mozart--perhaps other--and nearing the end of the opera she displays incredible technical and artistic levels. Brava!

Personally I find that she sounds like an old lady, her singing and phrasing isn't particularly musical either, facial expressions look kinda weird.
