Set in an idyllic rural African village, this multi award winning production displays the majesty of the forests, the rivers, the creatures and characters living in harmony with each other. But when a stranger arrives from a faraway land, bringing with him change and new ideas, it threatens the villagers’ way of life and tests the strength of family, their loyalty to each other and their heritage. Seeing the effects of the stranger’s arrival on her village, a young girl is faced with a difficult decision. Will she find her voice and use it to stand up for what she believes in?
Set against the backdrop of African colonization ‘Listen’ explores the effects of this colonization on the African people and their identity through forced change to traditions, rituals and cultures. It explores how colonization influenced the use of the land, and how it impacted the environment and the people.
