Listen To My Truck AFTER SOUND MAT INSTALL!!
Here's a before and after of sound mat installed in the rear cargo area of my 1995 Suburban. My goal is to silence the interior of my vehicle as much as possible. I started with the front passenger area then moved to the rear cargo area. Lastly, I'll do the rear passenger area but that'll be in another video.

i would do the ceiling. it is a big flat area that gives out a lot of reverberations and it will help block the heat from the sun

That’s exactly what I did, I did my entire truck, floors, doors, ceiling, back wall every spot except right behind all the gauge clusters and all but everything else was done and doubled up on some parts off he roof, the doors I did the inside and the panels side too, definitely made a huge difference once it was all done. On top of that (literally lol) I used Mass Loaded Vinyl, the stuff he used (kilmat which I used also) is a sound deadener MLV is a Sound Barrier, now the trucks feels like a Cadillac

As well as rear wheel wells and the tailgate and doors. Its tideous for sure but what you've done thus far equates to using half a gasket on a water pump. There's alot still getting through. Nice job so far though.

Will this product help insulate from heat and cold, as well as sound?
@redraif

I took things one step further after matting... I took the paneling off and anything with a hollow cavity, I got spray sound deadener... I sprayed inside on the backside of the sheetmetal interior panels and outer sheet metal. Of course and electrical or mechanical components I covered to keep the spray off (Windows, window mechanisms... etc) Then on the plastic panels I took speaker box carpet and sprayed contact glue and attached the carpet to the back of the panels. That was a huge improvement over even the matting on the interior sheetmetal. I got crazy with the show car and sprayed the underside and then painted back over it. (Road and car chemicals can soften/strip spray sound deadner)

Jimmy Schwarz this one specifically does help with heat and cold yes that’s one of the advantages of kilmat over Noico, I have a video on my channel you can check out when I installed this stuff.

Put the mat in your door skins and the in the inside of the door and interior body panels. It will make a huge difference. Get a few egg crate foam mats and put them into the voids in the body where you cant put the mat. I used "good stuff" foam in extra tight areas to stop air flow and echoes in the body. Do the inside of the tail gate. You'll be surprised of just how quiet it will be come. You have really just started. Oh, in my rear cargo area I put 1/4 inch neoprene foam panels under the carpet. Good job! keep it up.

Hey Jimmy, Love your honest about any products you've been gifted . I can't stand when in some videos, like mid way they start loving a certain product,that they say use all the time, then never seeing it used again, not once mentioning it's a paid ad. Treating your viewers for suckers is not good. Credibility is easy to loose. Keep up the great content. Thumbs up from Melb, Australia.

This was literally the best thing I've done to my Envoy. I literally gutted the entire interior, all seats, panels, carpet, headliner and doors and put the mats everywhere. Its literally amazing how much of a difference it makes. I also put in a brand new, thicker, plusher carpet with a thick rubber backing and man.... its insane how quiet it is. Also one thing that's crazy, my truck is straight piped.... and it sounds so quiet inside!

Be sure to do the rear doors and the lift gate. I would even do the roof if possible. I completely removed the interior of my Mustang and covered every surface I could reach with Kilmat. Doors, floor, trunk floor, trunk lid. and roof. Made a world of difference. Even made the drone of the 3 inch Flowmaster exhaust tolerable from the inside.

what you measure in DB. is pretty good. not very quiet but not very noisy. somewhere in the middle. You also need to see at what frequencies the noise is in. tire noise can be more annoying than the noise at brighter frequencies is

Good job Jimmy. One tip to make it easier to position those sticky #%$#% is to not pull the backing paper all the way off at first. Just pull back enough to get your piece positioned correctly and then pull the paper back in stages as you smooth it down. Same goes for vinyl decals and paint mask paper.

Humans can usually hear from 18 hz up to about 16,000 to 18,00 hz. Every 3 decibels is double the volume. So even dropping from 73 to 70 means it is twice as quite. I use it alot tor car audio. If the car is twice as quite the stereo is by all means twice as loud. By comparison it would take 10x as much amplification to double the volume in a car. So sound deadening material is a great thing. Even without a huge stereo system in it you effectively make the car twice is quiet eliminating vibration and making for a more comfortable ride
