A GM EMD SW8 diesel switcher, built between 1950 and 1954, pulls waste containers past the switch and then back to a different set of tracks at the Waste Management Transfer Facility in Jessup, MD
@engine201 I work on these mostly sw1's and 1200's they will keep running like that till total failure... the 3 1500's I keep FRA run clean and make an awesome sound too.. but I really love the turbine winding up on an SD-40.... :P
Precisely that amazing sound is the reponsible I am a railfn since I was a children. I my country still I can hear it with our G8 that are more than 60 years old, thanks EMD for that engine!
I think it might be an old Lehigh engine. I've been trying to catch the GP10 in action at this spot and haven't seen it in awhile. Hope it is still running!
Sounds good for a 567b looks like it could use a little tlc on the injectors either it needs the rack ran or it has a couple injectors pissing just a bit....
@MrConraal I feel like it's hit or miss..More times than not, I've gone out and caught 5 in an hour or 15 in a few hours, all depends on where they're running
I see it has those switching trucks. We use two SW1500 locos and one has the flexicoil trucks. It can't pull worth anything, but it rides nice. Is SW8 still pulling six years later?
Its not smoking hardly though, if injectors were failing; thats if u mean the nozzles, it would smoke, or do u mean the actual injection elements so its underfuelling?
