Beautiful album cover. Decent album. I like Leftoverture and Song for America better, but it has its moments.

I learned about gambling at a church fair when I was a kid trying to win this album when it 1st came out. I blew all my quarters on the "Big Six" wheel and watched someone else take it home. My favorite Kansas is Leftoverture. Cheers Jim!

Hey Jim! I have seen Kansas several times in concert going back to 1978. My favorite show was when they opened for YES!! Incredible show. Both bands were at their best that night!! Kansas ROCKS!!!!!🎵🎼🎶👍😎

To hear an American band from the 70s who really DID sound like Yes, you need to listen to Starcastle!

Great album for the bands 5th studio output. (Kansas, Song for America, Masque, Leftoverture). Their next release was their first live album Two for the Show. The 30th anniversary release of TFTS is an expanded version of the original release. Treat yourself to this gem, as it is the original line up at their prime.

I've been a Kansas fan since 74, my favorite band! 1. Leftoverture 2. Point Of Know Return 3. Song For America, 4. Masque 5. Kansas 6. Audio Visions 7. Absence Of Presence 8. Prelude Implicit 9. Vinyl Confessions 10. Monolith. Power was ok, Steve Morse meh, Billy Grier was a good replacement for Dave Hope on Bass, I think this is where Steve Walsh started to have issues with his voice. I liked David Ragsdale on violin, but Robbie Steinhardt was the best R.I.P. Rich Williams and Phil Ehart are the only originals left. Rich and Phil are probably in their 70's, I don't know if they have enough left in the tank for another album and tour. I would love to see them do a tour where the play songs from every album and have maybe 1 or 2 breaks, I'd love that! I also love what Kerry, Dave, Warren, Michael, and Dennis did with AD! Time Line, Art Of The State, Reconstructions, and Prime Mover are all superb! In my opinion, I would give Leftoverture 5 stars, Point Of Know Return 4.5 stars, great album!

Closet Chronicles, not closest. The late Robby Steinhardt was one of the most underrated violin/vocalists of the seventies. Each one of the first six albums (presumably the set does not include Monolith) are all essential in my opinion. Love the channel and your approach to music Jim.

Solid from beginning to end. American prog. So few bands in this country that played and created progressive music as the best of British and Scofizh bands had done in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s!

This album works well as an introduction to Kansas. There are several earlier albums I like better than this one, but this is still pretty great. Top notch musicians all! I sense a lot of affinity with the Gentle Giant of the same era. Complicated compositions.

Aha another Jim and me coincidence strikes....was listening to several Kansas albums including this AND I have all 5 in exactly the same set!!!🤗 After 4th go of just about all 5 albums I've really tuned in to them. Love the classic albums sets...got loads of them. They all provide great intros to many famous and overlooked artists. Also got Joan Armatrading set this year and it's also amazing. 👍👍👍

Such a wonderful album. It is part of the soundtrack of my life. It was played repeatedly. How many heavy(ish) bands can you think of who incorporated violin regularly and well? So much great stuff in their discography. Some say this is their second best album, but for top to bottom quality, I submit it is their best.

Nothing wrong with a fade out from time to time. Live this Chronicles ends with a very staccato fanfare, and Point has a definitive ending. Fade outs can be very effective.

It's not quite Leftoverture, but it's good. I love seeing Jim do full album reactions. Would love to see him do Heart - Dreamboat Annie! That album is surprisingly quite proggy.

I think Portrait (He Knew) is a great track, that reviewer needs his ears clearing out ! I remember Steve Walsh (vocals, keys) singing for Steve Hackett solo album "Please Don't Touch" released around the same time. "Closet Chronicles" is probably my favourite track.

'Portrait (He Knew)' per Wiki: "The inspiration for the song came from Kerry Livgren's admiration for Albert Einstein". Also per Wiki 'Closet Chronicles' is "a Howard Hughes allegory".

Kansas are prog, no question (The keyboards plus tempo and time signature changes prove this), but are they great prog? I'm still not convinced. Steve Walsh, excellent singer though he is, fits snuggly in the classic rock genre and 'grounds' the music too much where Jon Anderson would make it soar, Peter Hammill would drag it to the depths and Peter Gabriel would take it who knows where (Willow Farm probably) I really don't like criticising Kansas as they might well be the best American Prog band - the Prog corner says so below and he knows! - but my British ears look for something a little different. I suspect a UK poll would be fairly different from a US one. Good record though.
