The Mike Patton wormhole! YES!!!!! Mr. Bungle is his high school band with two of his buddies along with others. They are probably one of the most unique bands in music history. Mike Patton got this band signed after the Epic hit. John Zorn produced this. After this Mike Patton has gone on to create a ton of music and been in countless other projects and bands. An amazing talent. But this band has to be his best work.

...and yet mr bungle are NOT a ska band whatsoever. You asked if the rest of the album sounds like this song. Nope. BUT the overarching theme of THIS album is a kind of psycho carnival trip. Funk, metal/hard rock, ska overtones, just some seriously twisted fun. From this album I'd recommend Slowly Growing Deaf, Quote Unquote (Travolta), or Stubb-a-dub. Their 2nd album, Disco Volante, jaunts off in a totally different direction. More electronica (but not clubby-sounding...it doesn't make sense to you hear it), some middle eastern flavors. Desert Search for Techno Allah is amaaaaazing. California is another ride in its own direction...surf rock, death metal, experimental noise (that manages to be REALLY hooky, catchy), and even very conventional soft rock that somehow still manages to sound totally twisted. My favorite is Goodbye Sober Day. And if you DO find yourself looking at faith no more, Angel Dust as well as King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime are both brilliant...but it's hard to go wrong with FNM, unless it's Epic, which I've grown to dislike despite its own catchiness. I guess almost anything can annoy if you hear it too much. Thing is, Epic is NOT a good representation of FNM's sound. So many other amazing songs. OK ciao.

That first album is a masterpiece, and it just turned 30 years old a few weeks ago. TIMELESS! They have 4 albums, and none of them sound like the same band, same style, or even same influences. This album is a carnival theme with a mixture of metal, ska, punk, and funk. Their 2nd album is Disco Volante and that one is more of an experimental jazz Zappa meets Danny Elfman. Their 3rd album California is more experimental world music mixed with some heavy Beach Boys/Brian Wilson influence. The latest album is a complete remake of their early demo The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny. It's a thrash album, and features Scott Ian from Anthrax, as well as Dave Lombardo from Slayer. I love all 4 albums, but the self titled is my fav.

I love FNM but Bungle is just the best. I got into Mike's music when he took the total pss of having to lip sync to 'Out of nowhere' live on TOTP. I saw this when it was aired and immediately thought -legend. Everything Mike has touched from Italian 60's classical music to well, everything is just an unexpected fantastic journey, I hope he gets well soon. Mike is a one off and I need him in my life.

Bungle, finally! I’m so happy you’ve taken the plunge. Like Frank Zappa, this band cannot be understood by one song, or even one album (the same hold true for Faith No More, who you must do videos on). You’re going to have to listen to it all. Because you have California, I second Pink Cigarette as the next Bungle listen. PC is one of their most straight forward song structures, but it is masterful in its execution. If you want something a bit more Bungly with schizophrenic genre swapping off California, try Ars Moriendi or None of Them Knew They Were Robots.

Faith no more are amazing. You owe it to yourself to head down that rabbit hole. Epic doesn't do them justice. Those 2 bungle records are very different. The self titled is very circus funk weirdness. Whereas California has an off kilter 50's/surf rock/crooner vibe.

Since you dig Mr. Bungle, you might like another band that has a ska base but then brought in punk, funk, soul, metal, gospel, reggae, and even country once. That band is Fishbone. Every song is different and they even brought in the Theremin in later albums. LOL Try "Beergut" as an intro. You have to love a band that does a metal song with horns.

Great Band! (But you're right to think they range far and wide. Some of their music is fully heavy metal, for instance.) If you want an idea of what Trey Spruance branched off to, *Secret Chiefs 3* have made some interesting music. (Again it's impossible to give a typical song, but maybe you'll like *Vajra* next time you're in the mood for something Middle Eastern or Sleepytime Gorillish). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S74hBpQZ6LU.html (clip is of a live performance).

Mike Patton has been involved in a lot more than just Faith No More. For instance, he sang for *Tomahawk* - and you might like their *God Hates a Coward* ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0aA5NxTujqg.html (you probably want to look at this clip one day even if you first listen to just the sound - you'll see how the vocal effects work that way).
@sicko_the_ew
@sicko_the_ew 2 года назад
And seeing as you've listened to quite a few musicians who are *Cardiacs* fans (so that would make them fellow members of the Illuminati, I suppose), you might enjoy *Buds and Spawn* - which has some interesting rhythmic "interweaving", as well as uplifting party-time "Whoo0000s" at times. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jwvlM4aTjEU.html (The fans in question would be Devin Townsend, Steven Wilson, and Mike Patton - and probably the whole of Mr Bungle - Cardiacs being one of their influences.)
@sicko_the_ew
@sicko_the_ew 2 года назад
Sleepytime what ?? ... *Sleepytime Gorilla Museum* at the risk of being accused of suggesting a plunge right into their deep end, here's a song King Crimson's Tony Levin likes: *Sleep is Wrong* ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EVLLLJa5BuI.html (For something more metal, you might need to try out Helpless Corpses Reenactment or The Donkey Headed Adversary of Humanity Opens the Discussion) I bet they listened to Mr Bungle when they were kids.

Have you ventured in to appealing blocked videos? I'm not a creator, so take what I'm commenting with a grain of salt. I have seen other creators claim that once an appeal is submitted, the video becomes available until a decision is reached. If favorable, it remains up. If not, it becomes blocked again. As far as I know, submitting an appeal does not cause a strike against ones account.

I don’t think I’d ever win, I’m not really making educational videos or critiquing it too much! It’s annoying as hell when a video gets blocked, but I know it isn’t unfair or unjust. I tried to register and pay a licence to the performing rights society (PRS) in order to be legal, but RU-vid don’t recognise them. If I was a radio station it would be ok. Ah well…. Onwards and upwards!
