Cherokee elder Mack Vann never learned to speak fluent English. He has a message for younger generations.

When my Grandmother moved to Chicago in the 50s she left so much of our culture behind that my family even took on a new identity. I refuse to let the language and culture die. I plan to be fluent in Tsalagi before my first child is born. Wado Oginali 💯

I agree with the elder that the Cherokee need to look out for each other and be a community. I'm that way with anyone that identifies as Tsalagi.... registered or not... 🏹🤘🏹

Yes amen I'm in Southern Illinois and I'm learning right now my family is all from Kentucky originally before that who knows a lot of Cherokee flowing in these veins of mine and though I'm not full blooded that doesn't bother me 'cause to me being Cherokee is more bigger than that at this particular point in history anyway...so therefore I say our language will not die....not with me anyway....with me it will LIVE!!!
