This was Ren recording live. Notice the mic pinned at his collar. He is brilliant, writing, performing, accompanying himself, choreographing his every move and expression, etc. This is a rare true artist!

Just before the nasty side takes hold, Ren says "I'll lock you inside" and the negative side takes over to say there's NO WAY he can lock him inside or get rid of him, that negativity has forever plagued man. Excellent reaction! Thank you!

I’m an old rocker never felt this way about an artist since dire straits early 80s..but ren is a phenomenal songwriter and performer I wondered if we would ever see such an artist again…never liked rap either but absolutely love rens catalogue older people have been awakened again to new music because we know how rare true talent is

Also, you should know that Ren has a second yt channel called RenMakesStuff and on that channel are 8 separate videos listed as Chapters 1 thru 8 and they are the story of his illness. Some reactors have watched alone and some have reacted.... They are emotional for a lot to of people to hear, Ren is sharing his story in order to shed light on people that are battling similar issues. If you want to learn about his illness and stuff those are a good place to go. Also, if you want to learn about the amazing human that Ren is then I suggest his 1 million sub video about defining success - it's not music either but it will teach you about the kind of human being Ren truly is. There is also a video on RenMakesMusic that is from when he was at his worst in his illness and you can see the difference from then until now (tho he's still being treated, he's come a long way) and I'll warn you it's a very hard video to watch (it's a vlog) even without any connection to him emotionally (a lot of the Renegades feel an emotional connection with Ren because of him being a voice for what they are going thru/have been thru, his personality, his intelligence, etc)

Some things that are amazing about ren is that he’s independent artist previously dropped by Sony, he directs his videos and he produces all his bangers himself…. Oh and there’s not an instrument he doesn’t play x

Ren is unique and special. I looked it up and he taught himself how play the guitar by slowing down tracks by Jimi Hendrix and John Frusciante

Your note about the middle portion and Ren being taken over, is absolutely on point. Somebody in his camp wrote something to that effect. Initially, Ren planned to end the video after that middle section but when he showed it to his friends, they were stunned, like “dude-that’s too dark,” and that’s when he wrote the third section about Hope.

This really is the tip of the iceberg as far as Ren's talent you have one hell of a ride in front of you if you want to see more of him. Ren is self taught as far as the instruments he plays, he is so talented it's as if music flows through and out of his body. He was signed to Sony as a teenager but unfortunately got very sick before they could complete his first album so they parted ways. He has Lyme disease that went undiagnosed for a very long time (7 years) which in turn caused irreparable damage his body and brain. He is currently in Canada receiving treatment in the hope to improve his quality of life. He has an incredible back catalogue of music and you never know what you're going to get with him. A lot of his videos are filmed live and in one take, they've even won two awards. He also played in a busking band called The Big Push and they have some incredible covers that will make your head spin. Ren really can do it all he's a once in a lifetime artist who deserves all the recognition and success. RU-vid reactors have played a big part in getting him the exposure he has today, he got a number 1 album in the uk last year which is incredible for an independent artist. And it is like getting on a train, he's dropping new music regularly but you can go backwards faster, go through time and see Ren's musical and personal journey to this point Ren's back catalogue is over a decade of musical brilliance and heart on the sleeve humanity. Get into it, the waters lovely.

You have found a welsh genius. He has a huge following for an independant and has had a no1 album and other worthy awards. I recommend the tale of Jenny and Screech to be blown away by his skill. Recorded live, in a single take, using multip'e cameras. Ren's something of a master of the 'live, one take'! He directed it as well, of course. He's also a top-notch producer and produces all his own work and pretty much all of his collaborations. He raps like a rap god, scats and beatboxes brilliantly. I can't wait for you to hear him properly sing. Ren has incredible vocals, capable of multiple voices, styles and tones! His performance skills are first-class too and his stage presence is palpable! His songwriting is world-class! Especially his lyricism. He's a poet really and a bloody good poet at that! Oh, and he plays about a dozen instruments well. Half of them RIDICULOUSLY well! All self-taught! He does EVERY genre and does them all brilliantly! He doesn't miss, no matter the genre. Be it soul, funk, reggae, rap, hip-hop, rock, punk, edm, folk, classical, medieval, jazz, blues, pop... it's always great and oftentimes a masterpiece! :) He's fully independent. No label, no financial backing, no PR machine, no management company. Every label under the Sun has tried to sign Ren! He's turned them all down! With Ren it really is all about the music! He's not willing to compromise on that for the sake of fame and fortune! Despite all this, he created history last year, by becoming the first fully independent artist to achieve a number 1 UK album! Knocking Drake off the top spot in the process! It also went top 10 in several other countries and topped both the US hip-hop album chart and the worldwide iTunes chart! This despite being independent and despite being unable to tour or to properly promote his work due to his health problems, which are considerable. He's been through hell, believe me and although no longer bedridden, he remains chronically ill, in constant pain and allergic to virtually all food, due to his autoimmunity. I'll leave others to detail all his health woes but it's incredible that he's still here, still standing and producing incredible music/art! :) Ren's a unique artist. A musical genius! I resonated with this right away, it helped me so much! 10 years of undiagnosed Fibromyalgia, anxiety, depression and at one point agoraphobia, it all took its toll on me. I had already started to push to get properly diagnosed and get the right treatment but had run foul of Painkillers that the Pain clinic insisted I needed, after being at the point where fentanyl was then only option I realised it would be the end of me. It took 2 years to get off them during which Ren appeared with this and helped me learn to cope. I still have more or less constant pain but have learned how to cope and to accept it for what it is. Great reaction, there’s a lot of good stuff in Ren’s repertoire!

Subbed before watching, I knew you would love Ren. Everyone does!!! The troubles Ren has gone through is terrible. Some days he spent u to 23 hours a day in bed in pain!!!! And he is self taught on all his instruments. Simply amazing talent.

As a Welsh man you should be very proud to have Ren as a fellow countryman.... he is without a doubt the greatest artist to come from Wales and probably Britain! Not only that but he is also a wonderful human being too. BTW I loved your reaction ❤✌️

I Have watched so many reactions to this video I have lost count. One thing I feel is that at the end when he is standing and singing and the lights are flickering as intensely as they have in the entire video, it reflects the verse, "Just as sure as rainfall soon runs dry, when you stand in an eye of the storm." It feels like he is in the eyes and the chaos is swirling around him. He is safe though because he has let that sense of hope envelope him and protect him. The singing during this part feels like he has won....for now...but, as he states in his final monologue, "It was never really a battle for me to win, it was an eternal dance, And like a dance, the more rigid I became, the harder it got, The more I cursed my clumsy footsteps, the more I struggled, So I got older and I learned to relax, And I learned to soften and that dance got easier"..the battle isn't over..but he is now in the light of positivity and confidence. I have lots more thoughts on this entire work of art, but this comment would become more than just a comment. The beauty of many of Ren's songs are that we can relate personally from our own perspective. If nothing else, it makes us think and reflect about what he's saying. For cinematic Ren, the Trilogy of Jenny and Screech is great, Money Game is so atmospheric and Money Game 3 is next level. For epic hip-hop(ish) stuff the opening track of his recent album, Seven Sins, is amazing. For rap, try Illest Of Our Time or The Hunger. Or Gene's for lyrical rap. For a different side of Ren, there's his busking with The Big Push or with Sam Tompkins. I appreciate your approach to listening and developing an understanding of what an artist is bringing and being open to sharing your thoughts.

Like many of us, i first watched hi ren over a year ago and have been consuming ren reactions since. It really feels like I've watched thousands of hi Ren reactions alone and I'm surprised when i find someone that hasn't heard is him. You'll get many suggestions for what to do next because it's all really good. Great video.

Ren's light shines bright on those coming out from under rocks!! What a journey you have in front of you. First suggestion is to listen to all the specific versions of songs to listen to first. Ren has no bad song, but some are better listened to before others. Second, it is wise never to leave a Ren video before it has fully ended. There are sometimes wee gems left after the song has ended. The last song you hear of Ren's temporarily becomes your favourite, quickly to be set aside for the next song you hear. The genius of Ren. Some have captured my heart more than others, but not a badu'n amongst them. You should enjoy the Big Push band as well. They stemmed from Brighton and Ren was a member, along with Gorran Kendall, Romain Axisa and Glen Chambers (hope I spelled these correctly).

I still don't understand how Ren can be so (relatively) unknown even in Wales that folks don't know him when he's been putting out world class music for YEARS. (and I'm not 'exaggerating'... the last time I heard an artist that I thought had this level of talent was Amy Winehouse... decades ago).

The logical next one imho is "Sick Boi", but of course You must check out "The Tale of Jenny and Screech" and the "Money Game" trilogy (the second part has to be the official lyric video). "Crutch" with Bibi, "Chalk Outlines" and "How to be Me" with Chinchilla, "Suic*de", "For Joe", "Mackay" for more serious ones. "Hunger", "Losing It", "Power", "Love Music" series, "Uninvited" for easier listening. "I shot the Sherif/Road to Zion/Hip-Hop" or "War Pigs"with Big Push. "Murderer" and "Animal Flow" (i guess these too in this specific order as they are loosely connected; both of these have unplugged versions too, which are quite different from the produced ones), "Illest of Our Time", "Humble" with Eden Nash, "Genesis", "Seven Sins", "Lost All Faith", "Back on 74/Message In A Bottle Retake" ... I could continue as his catalogue is vast, but that's it for now...

I have been obsessed for going on two years now! I love this kid (old enough to be his Mom)! His genuine humanity seals the deal for me of the best artist in the last 30 years minimum!

One of the best things about finding Ren is getting to listen to other artists in his circle. Some of the best music to come along since the late sixties and early seventies.
