PLEASE REACT TO "SPIRIT: STALLION OF THE CIMARRON"! It's a story about a strong, beautiful horse with a spirit that can never be broken. I cry every time i watch it! It's a INCREDIBLE film, and the songs are so cool! But it's not a musical and the animals can't talk. 😭💔🔥
Kind of disappointed that he didn't watch the video version of Noel's lament. Noel casually ripping his clothes off and remaining in a skimpy black dress and heels is a sight to behold.
@@NamiiWavee Especially cause Ricky is my favorite character! I'm just sad that, instead of fixing the disability representation, newer productions just get rid of it completely.
@@AlexanderWandering THEY GOT RID OF HIS DISABILITIES?? I HAVEN'T WATCHED ANY OF THE NEW PRODUCTIONS AND DEFINITELY AREN'T IF THEY JUST GOT RID OF ALL HIS DISABILITIES 😭
@NamiiWavee Yeah, I always had an issue with the plot point that disability just disappears in the afterlife but I still prefer that towards no representation. Apparently, the actor who played Ricky in one run was actually disabled but when his disability caused him to miss some shows, as it does sometimes, they recast an abled actor in the role which is awful. But then instead of making changes to just have the character's disability follow him through to the afterlife, they just got rid of it and had his inability to speak come from trauma instead. I saw my old college's production of it and, idk, it just seemed like even in an ensemble show, Ricky was more of a background character now. They even took out the part where he chooses to concede which made me so sad. I do wonder if production teams can still use the original script if they choose to.
It wasn’t just Jane’s, all the other members do the same in their song too except for Constance. Before she sings she mentioned that she didn’t scream like the others.
15:00 In another part of the musical, there’s a part called “Jane Doe’s Entrance” Where Jane says “No parents came, so they never learned my name or who I used to be.” In the song, the ascending(?) Vocals are cut off short to represent the scream that she (and or the other students) had before the rollercoaster broke. I love that this is finally getting reacted to aaaaa
I also believe that one of the actors for Jane said that they think the reason her parents never came for her is because she didn't come from a great family
@@katethevampire RtC is in the same universe as the writer's other musical (called Legoland), which means that more specifically the reason Jane's family didn't show up is because their whole community had been arrested for owning a pot farm one year before the events of RtC. Penny Lamb and her brother were enrolled in the St Cassian's school, but don't have any guardians, so her body wasn't claimed after death
It makes sense. Jane has referenced a lot of stuff about terrible parents. The lion and the lioness and the line in her song "Time eats all his children in the end" referencing Kronos, the Greek God of Time eating all of his children in hopes of avoiding his fate of being overthrown by them.
As a Canadian, I'm more offended that he believes our biggest export is mustard seeds and uranium. We're THE maple syrup country! Also, apparently our biggest export is crude oil. So everyone was wrong.
We were apparently the top exporter of mustard seeds in 2021, were also the fourth largest exporter of uranium. We also are the top exporter of maple syrup but that’s not hard because maple trees mostly only grow in Canada
19:41 NO FR!!! I remember when I first saw the show I was COMPLETELY blown away because not only is she amazing hitting those notes but shes doing it UPSIDE DOWN ON A FLY RIG????? I literally cannot imagine having to sing something like this upside down but she did it
If you choose to watch more of this, you aren't prepared in the SLIGHTEST! This is one of those musicals where you find new things with every time you watch it. Like the really high, long notes in "fall fair suite" are said to actually be Jane still falling to her death after everyone else had already hit the ground! Which is why she does them again in "Ballad of Jane Doe" :) RTC has a whole lot of little details like that, it's very fun!
Yaayy!! You're in for a ride. Thot hat is really on point 1:22 - This song is awesome 8:01 - fall fair suite 13:48 - the ballad of Jane Doe 20:24 - Noel's Lament Would love to see you react to the full musical
I don't know if anyone has said it in the comments yet, but Jane's parents didn't come forward because they were in jail for drug stuff. She has a play about her and her brother called Legoland (it's a book. the actual musical of it is lost media.)
"Book" is a theatre nerd term for script! I have seen quite some people react to a "rtc book?!?!" With great excitement in the comments of reviews of the show. When you go to review sites, the show will likely be referred to as "the book". And to my knowledge, legoland is a play, not a musical. Correct me if mistaken.
Watching this with an internal body temperature of 39.5°C/103.1°F sure feels like a fever dream in more ways than one And starting with "This song is awesome"? Very brave indeed
The instrumental in Noel's Lament is for Mischa(Ukraine guy) and Noel dancing, acting out a scene, and then kissing... Also Noel was the one who got the hat at the end of the first song
Ride the cyclone is by far my favourite musical pretyy much to ever exist, i would love to see you react to the full musical ♡ Also fun fact; The Ballad of Jane Doe is a lament and Noel's Lament is a Ballad this is because a ballad is 'A song that tells a story' while a lament is 'a passionate expression of grief or sorrow.' This is because Jane Doe WANTS to be able to sing a ballad but can't because she doesnt have a story to tell and Noel wants to sing a lament but cant because instead of a sorrowful life, his life was incredibly boring. (how he sees it anyways) Karnak (the fortune telling machine states that "Show not what they were perceived to be but whay they dreamt they were." So while both songs are actually not the type of songs the title states they are, it doesnt matter because the title instead represents what the characters wanted out of their lives but never got
@@MathewMcKenna is there any chance you can react to more Annapantsu, she also does an amazing cover of Noel’s Lament and it’s brilliant you’ll love it :)
"I'll go with the cast recording for this one" honestly you definitely should have seen the video 😂 most of them are even better with the video (if you ever do a part 2 and watch Space Age Bachelor Man ABSOLUTELY watch the video)
For a SLIGHT bit of context, all of the children have just entered the afterlife after dying in the rollercoaster crash, and have been given the opportunity for ONE of them to be reborn and have a 2nd chance at life. Each one sings a song to convince the others that they are the most worthy of living again. All of the songs are so EXTREMELY different to match each character's personality or persona.
I have a head cannon that Jane’s song is so choir like and the music is carnival esk because all she really knows is the choir and they died at a carnival
I watched the musical on youtube not too long ago and have been singing the songs from it non stop. The fact that you're now reacting to the songs is just great timing
I am definitely writing too many comments here, but I think you would enjoy "Noel's Lament" in the stage version! The choreography is stunning! Also, there's a lot of different variants of this musical and its songs online. The cast recording i.e. replaces "Fall Fair Suite" with "Uranium Suite", and adds "Be Safe, Be Good" (a DEVASTATING song when you know everyone singing it is dead) as well as "A World Inside". In another live version, the big opening song is called "Waiting for the Drop", and I'm pretty sure there's even more openings and other variants of the songs. So much to discover!
please watch the slime tutorial, its amazing (and it makes things make more sense). that said, the basic plot is reverse cats- they all have a singing competition to determine who can come back to life
Good to see this show getting more attention, and you should watch the live version of noels lament as the cast recording is so horribly autotuned and doesn’t do it justice
Whats really cool about the song titles is that "Noel's Lament" is a balled which is story telling through song. and "Balled of Jane doe" is a lament, which is expressing sadness or regret
FINALLY!! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS TO HAPPEN ONE DAY! I love that RTC is getting a little more well-known lately, and I'm so glad that you've decided to check out their songs. My daydreams of you reacting the musical can finally come to an end.
I have some more suggestions for you, I think you’d like to see these. They’re great and it would be nice to see you react to these suggested movies/shows/songs. I’m not sure if you’ll see this comment but if you will then I hope you’ll try them out 😊💕 1. Psych show : musical and Halloween episodes, maybe the intros too, 2. Amphibia (highest rated episodes) 3. More OUAT maybe the funny moments or the highest rated episodes. 4. More Equestria girls, either songs or full movies? (There are a few songs you missed) 5. Bridgerton (out of context or funny moments) 6. Vampire diaries (out of context or funny moments ) 7. Our flag means death (highest rated episodes or out of context) 8. What we do in the shadows tv show (funny moments or highest rated episodes). 9. Brooklyn 99 (out of context) 10. Anastasia, (you didn’t see two more songs from this movie. ) 11. Hilda (show & movies maybe the highest rated episodes or out of context
The Ballad of Jane Doe is one of my favorite songs but since I’m an opera guy I recognize it pays tribute to an opera aria called the Doll Song which makes sense since Jane Doe’s head is a doll’s head.
Mathew should listen to songs from 35MM: A Musical Exhibition! it doesn't have an overarching plot, each song is its own story, and they're all fantastic.
uncomfortable but intrigued sums up this entire musical. the song about space cats is insanity. i haven't finished the musical tho cause some of these songs especially at the end are a bit triggering for me. but this musical is an experience. noels lament is my favorite tho
I really want him to see Space age bachelor man. Not because I love this song (Which I very much do, it’s fantastic.) But I just wanna see his honest to God reaction to what happens in it.
Not sure if you ever figured it out, but in Ballad of Jane Doe, there was most likely a fly system in place. She probably has a harness attached to her body and the system to help her "fly."
Another song with rap is Talia at the end of it also please more I’m obsessed with this musical and you could indoor the hip gyration you say?? who’s gonna tell him about space age bachelor man💀
Me a theater nerd who is obsessed with ride the cyclone has been screaming at the screen for you to react to the whole musical so you have a clue about what's happening
So happy you did RTC!! Also great that you picked up on the “rollercoaster of emotions” with the difference in the songs, hope you check out more of the songs!!
I cannot express how amazing the timing is. My cousin literally just got me into this show (and falsettos but I don’t feel like being sad rn) and I find you upload a reaction lmao.
PLEASE WATCH MORE!! This musical is genuinely so amazing and it’d be so cool to see what you think about it :D also, PLEASEEE watch the actual video for Noel’s Lament, it’s so good
If you do a part 2 PLEASE watch the actual scene from the musical for Sugar Cloud! The cast recording and the actual clip from the musical are slightly different (it’s very noticeable when comparing the two tho) and the clip from the actual musical is the better version in my opinion
Just extra bit of context for The Ballad of Jane Doe, the high notes that she does is supposed to replicate her screams when falling off the ride. It's such a beautifully morbid song that is performed wonderfully, forever will be my favourite song in the whole musical. Another artistic detail is that at the end of the song, on the curtains the lighting makes it look like she had angelic wings. (Apologises for the rant I am in love with this musical) Also to make her float they have this massive claw like machine that hooks onto a piece inside of her costume, during the line: 'Forever eternally, Jane Doe' they cover her waist with the umbrella's and makes the whole stage a little darker so you can't see people attaching the machine onto her costume. It allows them to move her fluidly across the stage and lift her in the air with no struggle as they only have to turn a wheel to make her go upside down and spin. There should be a video on youtube somewhere that shows how they do it.
Please do more songs from the musical! Talia and Space Age Bachelor Man is a must listen! Watching the video for Noels lament would properly be a good idea since that whole song is so fun to watch!
Not listening to Talia after listening to this song is awesome is criminal because they go together (this song is awesome is his rage and Talia is passion)
I relate to that song I would also want to live a tragic and fun life of a character I made up in my head like getting hunted down by the government as a vampire
mathew please watch some starkid musicals. black friday and nerdy prudes must die, those a kinda the sequels for the guy who didn't like musicals. AND THEY ARE SUPERGOOD
You understand the second song right. They have just realized they have died and remembering what happened to cause it. They I think are feeling disoriented after waking in this in between world heaven and hell.that is my idea why they are flipping from anger, to sad, to confusion, to anger again, to sadness again.
It is actually about five children who have died from a roller coaster disaster. The machine knrack gives them the chance to be reborn given how young they were when they died but everyone has to vote for that one person to be the one. The rest of the show is them dealing with the knowledge of being dead and trying to convince their classmates to vote for them. Jane doe is one of the kids but no one knows who she is. The ballad of Jane doe is her frustration because she doesn’t have a name since no one recognizes her and being dead.
yayyy!! if you want a tiny bit more context (idk whether you do or not tbh) but. so you know they died on the ride, but the musical itself is this sentient fortune teller in the.. afterlife? having the power to grant life back to one of the students, but they must decide between themselves. so most of the songs are them performing their "pick me, here's why"
The shadow wings in the curtain in janes song always get me and the reference is Kronos the Lord of time who are his children the gods and the fact that jane was still alive for awhile after losing her head so when she mentions the screaming on street it was actually the aftermath of the accident i could pull apart this musical for hours
I’m so happy you finally reacted to rtc! If you listen to more songs from this musical I’d love to see you react to ‘what the world needs’! Great video as always 😊
