this is probably their least cohesive album but it’s full of gems from their discography (gyhab, skyscraper, lightweight, mlilas, ftload, in real life, fix a heart)
I agree. My favs are her ballads on this album. This album really had potential to have more than 2 hit singles. It could have been her teenage dream, Loud, animal, the fame etc
everyone hates all night long and who’s that boy & i love them so much 😭 this album holds such a special place in my heart as i first saw her in concert for this, however it’s definitely the most all over the place album. the nostalgia that comes with this album just makes me feel 16 all over again. best ballads hands down on this album
Despite the popular belief, i have absolutely loved this album. It's the most vulnerable album I came across back when i was younger and it was released. So many of these have gotten me through a lot (definitely not all, some are awful especially the openers) and I just don't like the hate it receives. Even though it's not my favourite but some of these tracks really hit and so i do really like this album.
I think this album was all over the place because Demi had started recording it before they went to rehab and was experimenting with a different sound and then when they came out they were rushed to get back out there and release new music. I’ve come to appreciate it more over time and I like a lot of the songs others hate but it’s definitely still their least cohesive album.
they recorded for the love of a daughter for hwga but their label wouldn’t let them release it because it was too mature so they re recorded it for unbroken, the hwga version is on youtube!
This album really rewards you for sitting through the first few songs with an incredible second half. Skyscraper, Give Your Heart a Break, Fix a Heart, and For the Love of a Daughter are all certified classics. I love the idea of you watching live performances for their self titled album given that you're already very familiar with all of the songs. It could also be pretty cool if you reacted to the deluxe track "I Hate You, Don't Leave Me". You'd probably only be able to find it on RU-vid, but it's honestly one of their best songs in my opinion.
Seems like you came to the same conclusion I did. The first 4 songs are bad. Demi didn’t write them. With the exception of Skyscraper, Demi wrote the thongs and you can tell because you can hear the emotional connection in her voice. Demi is and always will be a very emotional artist and I really hate that they are so under rated
@@jdmurphy3922 I agree with you but the hard truth is Demi only wrote on 5 songs on this album. And 4 of them are some of the weaker tracks in my opinion: All Night Long, Together, Unbroken and Hold Up. But she did write on For the Love of a Daughter, which I think is easily the best song on the album.
I don’t hate this album. I can’t. The first 4 pop tracks in it weren’t that bad and they grew on me over the years. But what really carried the entire albums are the slower songs that came after. They are gems. This album is truly underrated.
at that time, demi just got out of rehab, and theres a few songs that were suppose to be release during here we go again era, including skyscraper and for the love of a daughter, but the label said that its too mature for their audience so they postpone it
This album just makes me nostalgic. Sometimes I feel kinda bummed when I see people talking trash about this one, but I get where they come from, this album really is all over the place. It feels so generic at times, specially in those 4 first tracks and I don’t think I’d enjoy this one as much as I enjoy listening for the first time nowadays. It hasn’t aged well. With that being said, I think that “My Love Is Like a Star” is one of the best songs Demi has ever recorded. “Fix a Heart” is beautiful and “Lightweight” hits me in 2022 the same way it did back then.
This album was very special for me, especially "Skyscraper" and "Fix a Heart" are the most meaningful songs for me because it helped a lot with the depression that I was dealing with when I was 17. Also I have to admit that I feel very relatable with "For The Love of a Daughter" I relate with every single lyric of that song. As I said the album helped me to go through with my depression in a easier way and saved me to avoid making a suicide attempt. Without this album i think I would not be in this world. Thank you Demi for saving my life through this album.
My Love is Like a Star was the song that made me become a Lovatic 11 years ago. Although musically i dislike this album, it's one of my favorites because it was the album that made me become a fan lol
I personally really like this album, but it just doesn't sound like Demi. They have such talent and it's a little overshadowed because of all the hip-hop elements. My favorite tracks are definitely Lightweight and For The Love Of A Daughter 🖤 Also there is a rock version of FTLOAD. It's not as good as this one, but some of the lyrics are different because it was originally for a previous album.
Eppppppppppp! After Demi I think you should do Aly & AJ, Ellie Goulding, All Time Low (similar to 5 Seconds of Summer), Paramore, Avril Lavigne, The 1975, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, and Lucy Dacus.
@@VaaleBeetancurG So underrated! I always request their music from reactors but they never do them because not enough people request it. I love Ten Years and Sanctuary so much too.
For the Demi album, You should listen to the whole album but watching the music videos and telling how much the tracks that don't have a video grew on you.
I truly believe that in this album Demi released one of their best work till this day as : 1- Skyscraper 2- Give your heart a break 3- Fix a heart 4- Lightweight But for the half of the album i have mix feelings because the production was bad, and some tracks were overlayed and so heavy sound wise !! It’s my least favorite album from Demi but also have one of my favorite tracks ever.
I'm happy you liked In Real Life which is in my opinion Demi's most underrated song. this is honestly one of my fav Demi albums. i f*** with Who's That Boy.
Unbroken isn't as bad as some Lovatics make it, but it's probably Demi's worst album. I guess it's because they were in rehab and than thrown back to work, so they didn't stay sober. That's probably why Demi was so emotional during the performance. As for the self titled I recommended to watch the song live, because Demi just sounds better live than in studio.
Just like Leona Lewis says in Bleeding Love: I don’t care what they say, I’m in love with you There’s no way you can hate an album that contains Demi’s best song a.k.a. Give Your Heart A Break
fun/sad fact; 'for the love of a daughter' was supposed to be on 'here we go again' (there's even a demo with a different production on youtube if you're interested) but they found it too heavy to be on the record so demi kept it for 'unbroken'
I'd love to see a listening party for DEMI. Even if it's something you already know, I just like hanging out on your channel and hearing you talk about music.
This is one of my fav albums from them, is like perfect for me cause I remember that first time that I heard it and I was in a dark place, but this gave me something more to be alive. Idc what lovatics says about Unbroken but I loved it.
The thing about unbroken I didn't like was that at the time I felt like their team were trying to rehabilitate their image with songs they thought were going to be popular and tried to separate Demi from her old rock sound and really coming from here we go again, unbroken was just a let down.
also it's cool to see how you're honest bout your thoughts on the songs in your videos bc i came to your channel because of sour and 5sos reactions, so i was used to watch you love everything. it's nice to see you saying that you don't really like every song. it makes me "trust" even more your reactions xoxo
This album is a truly emotional journey. It starts off within this context of partying and falling in love, and then it seems like the latter songs are the aftermath of that, in many different stages.
i think you ahould maybe do Kelly Clarkson's discography, she has a lot of the same vibes and themes demi has... still waiting for pink and beyoncé though
Unbroken isn't exactly bad (none of Demi's albums are). It just genuinely seems like they're trying to but can't move on from their pop rock phase, which is why it seems like a complete mess for the most part. Additionally, Demi was in rehab when most of the songs in the album were written so it didn't really include their ideas. But it's still a good album 💙 I think your favourite song from the album might be Lightweight, My Love Is Like A Star or For The Love Of A Daughter (this comment was posted before I watched the reaction). For The Love Of A Daughter is actually really personal to Demi because it's about her relationship with her father... they didn't have the best r/s.
i like most of the songs on this album, but at the same time i know it's one of their weaker ones. a big part of that is because hollywood records kind of rushed them into recording/releasing after their first time in rehab (which is also why they didn't write as much on this one). and i always thought it was weird that their label pushed them to record all of these like upbeat party songs when they were also trying to clean up demi's image after treatment. it's always been just a weird combination of vibes. still some incredible songs tho!
For the DEMI album reaction, you should check out the bonus track "I hate you, don't leave me", it's a very personal song and I think you'll both love it and cry. It's not on streaming platforms but here's a lyric video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hPr4Oh2s7KA.html
Fun fact! Ari did an original demo of You’re my only shorty, originally called you’re my only shawty ! It sounds similar but so cool to hear their different tones! Check it out! Great vid as always ❤️
For the Demi album, since you already know the songs, I suggest you watch live performances! Demi's live vocals are incredible and I wish I could watch them in concert someday.
Also, I would love to see your reactions and commentaries about the DEMI music videos :) and may be a little short video when you talk briefly about your favorite songs from the album and why are they so.
I almost feel like this album tells a story? Like how the beginning is an all-over-the-place party mixed with like… fame (together)? Then it starts getting emotional, but can’t stay there for long because of the partying and the fame, only to end on the root of the issue that heavily led to the issues Demi has now. Am I onto something?
you can watch Demi era music videos and singles like : Heart Attack, made in the usa,Neon Lights,Really don't care,Nightingale, let it go,Somebody to you,Up. 😀
I had a full on mental breakdown multiple times listening to For the love of a Daughter. I have no relationship with my bio dad and that song hit me so hard.
Love this album, is the first Demi album I actually bought, and I love it, I do prefer DEMI but I enjoy this album, and the spanish version of Skyscraper which in Spotify is only as a single, but it is on my physical record copy, so I count it as part of the album, really gets me.
OMG THIS TOOK ME BACK the minute i heard you're my only shorty all the memories of me playing that song over and over just hit me lol i used to love that song for some reason. I really haven't listened to Demi in a while but these videos keep taking me back to my teen days and it's just so fun so as always thank u Caitlin (also the editing just keeps getting better and funnier!)
came back here just to add something lol there was this “demi fan experience” in a club in brazil a few weeks ago, and the songs from this album were the ones where people most danced and most fit the place. i guess what we feel strange abiut this one is bc we are used to pop/rock sounding and this is a project totally made for clubs and electronic dance vibes, which were a high back in 2011
this album was the first ever demi album i memorized and listened to. i used to love the popiness of this album and at one point you’re my only shorty was my favourite song (i know lol). this album has a lot of very meaningful songs in it unlike their other songs, which i think has stuck in a lot of us lovatics. however this album is probably the most different from their others, like the productions of some of the songs is completely different and more R&B. as much as i would love for demi to go back to R&B, pop rock and punk rock is their element, and i’m glad they’re finally starting to realize it
I used to listen to this album a lot when I was in like 9th grade? So I still hold a lot of nostalgia for it and still adore it for that reason. But I'm also not a big Demi fan and I could see maybe why their fans don't love it as much.
while this is not my favorite Demi album, it does have a special place in my heart because this was the album they were touring when i saw them live for the first time.
As weird as this album is, it's also very meaningful and nostalgic for me because the first (and only) time I've ever seen Demi's live concert was when they were performing this album, so every song has that nostalgic feeling and it's really hard for me to talk about this album because even the first songs were amazing live (and I was like 13 yo) lol but it's also not my favorite album btw. Despite the weird production, these ballads are gems and makes the album really worth it. "My love is like a star" is one of my favorite songs ever and just means so much for me so, damn, this album gets me emotional. Thank you so much for taking your time to listen to Demi's discography and I really like your reactions. :)
