The greatest ending ever. So freeing to the soul. The shot of Daltry in between the sheer rock faces with the Lake District below him always makes me verklempt, seriously.
valar Personally, as impressive as "Pinball Wizard" is on guitar, I'm more impressed by it being played on piano. I think guitar is a harder instrument to play (I think violin' s the most difficult, but I digress...), overall, but this particular song seems more difficult on piano, for some reason.
I LOVE the Who and have done since I was 16 but sadly personal-wise Daltrey has turned into a massive brexiteer. Doesn't detract from my his awesomely powerful stage persons but I doubt I'd enjoy a drink with him.
@@songdoctor5783 75- I'm not sure my parents realized what was in it (thank goodness). most of it went right over my head- to me it was all about the music !
Not really…in my opinion the whole story was one of self-enlightenment. The whole concept of religion was rejected when he toppled “Mary” in the church. In the end, he was alone, and his own higher power depicted in this scene was himself.
I get the impression from this film, that the story was all about a young boy being brought up & being subjected as a 'blind follower' to many influences, paths & false idols. Whether it be, his martyred father in the air force, his 'uncles Frank & Ernie', the idolatry of Marilyn Monroe in a pseudo-church cult, the Acid Queen & later with himself as a self-professed messiah, of pinball games, before finally finding God. And the lyrics to "See Me, Feel Me/Listening to You" sound like a Christian worship song... a very powerful prayer/love song to God.
A very powerful song! A well thought out view of the movie, your view I agree with.... Your thoughts are deep!......but dear readers, experience the true and deep and real feeling of exhilaration by drawing near to God's only son.....Jesus. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Robbie Cameron - You summarized this movie perfectly!!! And I 100% fully agree with you that "Listening to You" most definitely sound's like a Christian worship song!! Everytime I listen to this, my entire being worships The Lord Jesus Christ =) Thanx for posting bruh {{{HUG}}}
Yes, you're right. Tommy makes his way through all the bullshit and the people telling him he's the saviour to finding out he actually IS the saviour... I think it's heart-rending when he pays compliment to his dead parents for getting him as far as they did... And then he reveals his godlike status. It's an amazing and life-affirming rock opera. I think Pete is saying something very profound about humans here. We are all gods. The potential is in all of us.
@@jesusmind1611 It is also very hard to NOT see a song about hero worship and one way devotion as a metaphor for the relationship between musician and fan, a relationship Pete Townsend was deeply critical of and uncomfortable with.
The lakes at 1:40 are Buttermere and Crummock water, and 2:05 it's Derwent water, all in the English Lake District. Two different locations though, from Tommy getting to the top of the mountain to him overlooking Derwent water.
@michaelsmith4534 Hi, dyou know where the scene over Buttermere and Crummock water was shot from? I'm thinking its either Haystacks or Fleetwith pike but wondered if you knew exactly? T.I.A!
This is what the actual experience looked like and felt to me. When I went into the light, I Felt a love beyond words, beyond description. He loves us all, every one of us! World got you down? Relax, he’s got this!
Roger daltrey made Tommy such an inspirational man for all people. My dad remember seeing the film 49 years ago and he said it was so amazing to the songs .
It’s interesting how this movie and the musical version have two very different endings with the same song. In the musical- Tommy’s followers leave him and Tommy sings this song as he Embraces his family. In this movie- since his family is a bunch of evil evil people- this song is more about Tommy and accepting himself.
I was so busy focusing on all the Christ metaphoric imagery that I never noticed that the dock Tommy jumps off at the top of this clip looks exactly like a guitar neck. :o
After 51 years of movies like Pink Floyd the Wall 🧱 Clock Work Orange, The Worriers, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest I just learned of Tommy. Thanks CERN. But stop messing up timelines 😅
@@jukeboxjonnie The first seal has been opened for some time. We await the the second, the Rider on the red horse. The tribulation time period is not seven years. I'm not sure of the time frame but IMHO, it would make sense to my personal understanding that it is closer to seventy. But the last part is my speculation. What I know for sure is that the first seal has been opened circa 2020 give or take a year. *Peace, blessings and comfort to you friend.*
TY Ben I ❤ you so effectively blooming much better than the first time you have been there for the first time in years and now I'm gonna cry and get your love 💘and 🌞you in my arms again ❤💙♥💗💕💖❤💙♥💗💕💖
Something makes me think he caught a nasty close to death flu in this scene, like he got sick after the infamous tub of beans on the sell out cover, this looks like a lot of takes were done and in some moments he looks like he’s really to cough up a lung or throw up!
Now I know this cat was young and in relatively good shape but he DID NOT climb straight up that f---ing waterfall! Didn't happen. He could write songs and he could sing like a siren but he didn't climb the waterfall.
