Years ago we has a Lister straw elevator that had a very similar engine to that motorbike, it had a open water bowel on the top of the engine that we used to cooked large potatoes on, ready to eat when the work was over!

If only the many small british motorbike manufacters had used Lister instead of Villiers engines, we would still be the world's No1. motorcycle producer!
I think I found the problem with this one. You kind of have to let the rear wheel make contact with the ground, or your motorcycle won't actually go anywhere.
Gern geschehen. Siehe z.B. die alten Deutz MAH Motoren, oder mein Lianfa TL-170 Diesel, das sind typische Verdampfermotoren mit liegendem Zylinder. Die Lister haben nen stehenden Zylinder, brauchen darum weniger Standfläche, sind aber höher. Diese robusten und wartungsarmen Motoren trieben früher (und tun es in Gebieten Asiens noch in grosser Zahl) alles mögliche an: Generatoren, Pumpen, Kompressoren, Band- und Kreissägen, Spaltmaschienen, 1-Achs-Schlepper, kleinere Baumaschienen oder Boote.
You're right there are no brakes, The reason is that it's a Board Racer. Notice the number on the rear fender. Go online and look up Vintage Merckle, Cyclone. Excelsior, Harley Davidson and Indian. You will also notice that none of them had brakes.

"Verdampfermotor" and "Dampfmotor" are two totally different things: "Dampfmotor" (steam engine) names an engine wich is powered by steam, but "Verdampfermotor" (steaming engine) names a combustion engine wich is cooled by vaporizing water. So this absolutely phantastic bike is correct named.
Verdampfermotoren sind Motoren, die zur Kühlung einen nach oben offenen Wasserbehälter haben, welcher die Zylinder-Laufbuchse umschliesst. Solche Motoren brauchen keine Kühlwasserpumpe oder Kühlergrill oder Gebläse oder sonstiges Zeugs was kaputt gehen kann, aber man muss alle paar Stunden mal Kühlwasser nachfüllen.
Das ist mal eine richtig oberhammergeile Kiste!!! Riesigen Respekt! Absolut geil gebaut - wenn man das Ding fährt muss man sich fühlen wie auf einer Zeitmaschiene! Nur die Felgen passen da nicht wirklich dran..
Gelungener Aufbau, doch der Soziussitz ist 'n Witz - damit möchte ich auch keine 6km/h fahren ;). Speichenräder passen auch besser zur Gesamtlinie, aber wenn's ein Low Budget-Projekt ist...
