One of the greatest pianists of our time. Dizzying hand speed, strong notes, light touch, and interpretations which make many other pianists seem mechanical and soulless. She is so good, even her beauty can't distract from her talent - okay, a bit.

This is not just a talented young lady playing the piano. She is bringing out the life and emotion in the instrument and bringing it into life. The genius composer Liszt I am sure would be overjoyed.

31 July 1886 the world lost one of the best composer ever - Franz Liszt. He was born in an Austrian family and spoken German, but his heart was Hungarian. This love to Hungarian culture helped him to collect Hungarian songs and to compose pearls of the world classical music.

Played superbly, love it! Just a little clarification regarding Liszt. His name is very Hungarian (means 'flour'), he was born in Hungary, and was a Hungarian who spoke German. At the time, Hungary was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. We Hungarians are extremely proud of our favorite son.

Amazing how you compensate for hand size, at first i wasn't expecting much... this is a hard piece for medium small handed people to play, your wrists do handle the job of compensating just fine. You make it sound so soft like stars in the sky.

Anastasia, I am really becoming a fan! Only my 2nd video I have watched, however, it will, not be the last. I usually watch them several times over, then come back later to watch again. I listen first, without watching. Then, I watch. This video shares with us, both, the genius of the composer, AND, your command of interpretation! I also appreciate the videographer allowed this to be more about you and your skill, rather than advertise for Yamaha pianos! You are truly a gifted musician and artist! If you came to America, I would without question, pay to watch you perform!

I just finished a side-by-side comparison with another version (very popular on RU-vid). Ms. Anastasia plays this with more emotion and grace (if the Hungarian Rhapsody No 2 can be played gracefully). While both are very good, I think this is hands down a more enjoyable version that left me in awe and filled with wonder and gratitude. I love listening to EVERYTHING she plays!

Brava!! I loved the tempos you used for this piece, as well as the wonderful quick fermatas between some of the phrases, as like a short "breath" in a conversation. Besides your wonderful playing, you truly have a gift of revealing the "soul" of each piece you perform. I could never come close to playing many of the pieces you perform, even at a slower speed. Though I understand music, dynamics, and emotion. I really dislike when some performers and orchestras play pieces so fast, that the notes lose their feeling. Of course, this was also a complaint that Herr Mozart (and many other Maestros) also made about many musicians in their day....Peace!

Mozart was also accused of playing too fast. He knew exactly at what pace a piece should be played. He complained about Clementi’s lack of inventiveness. Fast or slow, a musical piece should possess “musicality.” When Andrew Lloyd Weber was asked how he chose songs for his musical productions, he said simply “Melody.”

I much prefer this realization over the hall performance you recorded on the Fazioli. This has a much more _"Gypsy dance"_ flavor. Do you have this one recorded in its entirety? Any remarks on the instruments ? Anyway, they're both delicious to watch. Thank you for sharing your gifts. 💕

Every time I hear Hungarian Rhapsody no.2, I can't help but think of that old Tom and Jerry cartoon titled "Cat Concerto" where Tom plays this song and Jerry does his best to mess it up for Tom.

Absolutely! What makes me laugh more is that i expected this comment to have at least five thousand thumbs up -- obviously all the stuffed shirts who want to appear so highbrow don't want people to know now that they became aquainted with classical music through thier Saturday morning cartoons, like you and me. When i wear black tie to the symphony, i always wear something with bugs bunny on it!

I read that Liszt was a good friend of the Bösendorfer family. It's possible their museum has pianos he played or composed on.
