When I first saw this concept years back, I didn’t see its significance. But fast forward today, with ever increasing traffic on our roads, high fuel prices , carbon emissions concerns and the future of electric vehicles, I think this is an award winning concept which was way ahead of it’s time. I
The E-1 is a car I had as my desktop picture about 20 years ago. It's a fantastic design, the driver sits in the middle and it has two outside seats slight behind. This means of course that the drive is right in the middle of the car, so it's very safe - in theory. However, BMW showed the concept off at the 1991 Frankfurt auto show, but it was never mass produced. Their i3 concept was supposed to be available now, but, again, it's a no-show.
@@Squadalha Thanks for that Joshua "On January 7, 2020, a San Francisco court granted a motion assigning Lit Motor's US patents to the plaintiffs in this lawsuit and restraining Lit Motors from selling its patents." damnit... the original developers must be gutted...
I was searching for a Yamaha motorcycle made in the 1990s with an enclosed capsule and wings with wheels under them, and then I found this. What an upgrade. I want one!
This is an awesome machine. The practical intentions are well thought unlike most inventions that are futuristic but can only be supported by passion and less practicality.
I hope further on in the future, they make a model that has a more sporty or aggressive look to it. I know they are not even done with the prototype yet, but I am just thinking.
The car and gyros are "on" during the alley test drives. Those guys are not keeping it from tipping. From Forbes, Dec. 2012: "On a test run in an alley across from the office, the vehicle lurches forward to a slow trot as engineers nervously walk alongside it in case the gyroscopes fail and the cycle tips. Attempting to hit street speeds, and even turning, seems a bit too risky at this point..."
compared to a car it is. also pretty sure my wing can't do it in 6 either. what got my attention is 2 seater plus 120mph (meaning it will do 60 all day) 220mile range and the biggy. $24k price tag. thats VERY close to reasonable. I WANT this thing. and I want it bad.
Schedule is past tense... I'm #30 and am happy with the pics of the latest version I received this week. They can continue to hold onto my depot until final production is ready to go. I'd say 50%/50% on getting mine this year.
lean angle would be 0° and I guess unstable at curves unless they make it significantly lower. if you include all you need to make the body sway while the 2-wheeled axle stays parallel to the ground (carver style), then the gyros are probably lighter and cheaper, but I might be wrong.
A simple enclosed motorcycle with a small 125 -800 cc engine/electric option using a Piaggio MP3 or Yamaha Tricity parallel type tilt front end of forged aluminum ,a simple aluminum bonded, bolted truss frame.Single seat with storage/jump seat. The narrow Yamaha /MP3 type tilt front end can be enclosed in a very narrow body,a electric, hydraulic landing gear with omni wheels could be used to lift the vehicle in a fall and to keep it upright when parked[streamlined motorcycles[narrow bodies] tend to get blown over when parked,so landing gear would keep it stable for both service and parking.my version saves at least 10,000 dollars in costs and eliminates the gyros high cost and 0 defect, with gyros controlling the lean you might loose some of the low speed handling.I believe this could be built for 15,000 dollars
It is a fantastic idea there are some questions but the concept is good. It needs a major manufacturer to take it up like Honda then the price will be more affordable for everyone.
so why do you think I want them to join forces? The e-tracer would be awesome with this gyro tech that lit has made, and the lit would look much better than now. Its a win win situation!
you are right, i mixed it up. i meant the i-series. but i looked it up, neither the i-3 nor the i-8 is yet available for sale. as bmw did quite a large campaign on this some time ago (maybe 6-8 months), i believed they made it into a purchaseable series already. too bad.... maybe daimler benz is catching up on them and brings one to the market first, as i know for fact they have something in development as well.
I'm all for this design. Saw it years ago in the similar "Carver" and I do like it a lot. I look forward to these finally hitting the market...but I have to say, this is not the first "promo" video for a vehicle of this kind, and I haven't seen one ever come to market. Also, I think having 4 guys walk next to it to keep it from tipping over is an epic fail for a promotional video. Doesn't exactly instill confidence in the design.
I've heard the exact same thing being said again and again, and yet - at least in Europe - we have quite a few different eco-friendly-car manufacturers. they're not big household names of course, most are on-demand custom producers but their products reach those who want them none the less. who says the only way to become big is to start big? plenty of products had to spend years to break the market before they became really popular.
Never will see production, car companies will buy him out.... As a cyclist would love to see this , cleaner air , more space on streets. Luckily where I live we have a lot of bike routes or lanes, but in congested cities would really be great.
Unfortunately it looks like you are right. The clamor for efficiency is mostly phony when it comes to doing the things needed to achieve it. I gave up for the time being on doing this kind of thing and turned into a tractor builder with the result being the MIastrada Dragon here seen on youtube.
Una pregunta, cuando sea necesario, y la moto lo requiera. QUIEN LA PODRÁ REPARAR? tienen cursos para reparar, a futuro? O que conocimientos serán necesarios, aparte de mecánica? De antemano GRACIAS.
yes it is expensive. howevr when years later down the road when other brand names make something simular to this the price will drop. Like for example I remmber the time Blu-Ray Players cost 2000.00 when it first come out now you can get one 120.00
i hope you're wrong and that they'll get their prices in check. there's nothing quite like it on the market at this time and it's the only small-sized electric vehicle i would actually consider buying.
This transport is a wonderful idea if they finalize it and release it in the series I will take myself one, though in seven years so heard nothing (2020).., although I am sure that this idea is one of the most promising.
also, C-1 is assembled entirely out of parts that are already manufactured for run-of-the-mill your usual cars. there are no parts, other then the outer shell, that they need to manufacture themselves. this drives the costs down significantly and makes the whole project that much more doable. combine that with design that isn't too funky - I mean, C-1 really does look like a love child of Smart car and motorcycle - and there's no reason for them not to succeed.
@@gigelportofel8988 I found it interesting. I just can't justify that price. As for insurance. I would imagine a bit pricey too. At least until they see collision/accident rate during the first dive year are so. ( Just my thought)
@@SiiaAne good points there! I must admit, it is interesting. I like riding and i imagine this would be good as i go up in age. I would like to try it.
@@kaischmelzle547If you get the chance to buy one, please swing by so this broke old lady can get a close up look. 🤗 The more people that show interest/do buy in/at asking price now is great. More revenue now, lower cost later. Equalling to more affordable sales. More money in total. Well...that's my hope anyway. Dreaming makes me smile. Window shopping is doable for now.
Newsflash: Smart is a division of of Daimler AG. You didn't know that did you? Lit has no such backing. Don't mistake what I'm saying, the C-1 is a fabulous bike/car. I love it. They have a chance IF they get a big company to back them (unlikely) and IF they have done enough studies to prove there is even a demand for their bike/car (they haven't). Cool design, eco friendliness, it's all irrelevant if their business model is unworkable.
I'm pretty sure that this still has potential and could have become a viable means of personal transport, but I suspect that as Kapil Madhan commented it's possibly been shelved for the reasons he said. What is needed are not necessarily uber-linked, self-driving, designer-fashioned cars even if they're as gorgeous as such concepts are often shown to be, but rather a means of transport that offers a level of road occupancy akin to that of a motorbike so that the stigma of congestion can be addressed. If such a vehicle offered the convenience and safety of a modern car then all the better and if such a vehicle were electric powered too then the recipe is looking good. This is where the C-1 was on course to be but alas is no more...
This kind of scale and dimension shape machine, has potential in becoming an aircraft & road vehicle, in one, as adjacent flight engines & wing spans have feature attach gaps. The disgner and company could've created a gyro, able to mount in many 3 to 2 wheel vehicle, making a gyro car, and declaring it as a model design will be easly be taken, since a gyroscoptic device isn't a new invention or copy right.
Been waiting for this forever! I hope it is available sooner than later! you mentioned 2024 release date? really? can you be more specific I am dying to get one!
The creator compared it to a scooter, media just keeps saying motorcycle because he's made references to the fact that there hasnt been any advances in ways to make motorcycles safer despite the fact that there has been a ton of advances in car safety.
The c-1 goes 125 mph.Thats just as fast as some sports bikes, and faster than most cars. I only said change the look to make it more appealing. I did not say anything about changing its performance in order to make it "suicidal". The main reason that motorcycles are dangerous for commuting is because they are hard to see. The c-1 is just as small as a motorcycle. It may be safer because you are in a cocoon but head on collision, people pulling out in front of you, people turning into your lane.
don't get all emotional. since the time of my comment they did figure out the cost of 1st batch. and it's roughly 3000$ less then initially thought. and the price of mass-produced units went down from 16,000$ to 12,000$. there is no reason for this not to be cheap to make, run and fix. if you had done your homework you would have seen that this vehicle actually has surprisingly few parts, and all of them are already mass-produced for cars.
again you're missing the point - no one should be reckless in any vehicle ever, so there is no need to encourage it (which is what giving a more aggressive design does). and i know that the size of the vehicle, whilst is a major factor, isn't everything. you CAN make c-1 very safe by installing roll bars.. but will they actually do it? remains to be seen.
