This is footage of Lita Ford playing guitar at a music store in Dublin, California after an autograph session in the early 90's. The guitar was given away as a raffle prize.
Gotta hand it to Eddie Van Halen for encouraging her not to squander her talent back in the early 80's upon the demise of The Runaways when she was working in all sorts of jobs. Eddie then noticed that being aware of her talent and talked her into picking up the guitar again.
@@MrJohnnyDistortion I read it off some liner notes from a reissue of one of her earlier albums. She had been working as a fitness instructor when Eddie Van Halen noticed her. He was like “What is she doing here? She’s a talented guitarist.” So he went up to her and told her not to waste her talent and get back to playing. When someone exceptional like Eddie Van Halen tells you that you’ve got talent and that you should use it, you’d better do as he says.
One more task lies ahead of her . . . And NO RUNAWAY will touch it (Sandy West died over it) . . . acknowledging the contributions of Michael Steele during the first months of the band.
Anyone that makes it back then anyway had some kind of talent what what exactly puts her in a class of her own I mean she’s good but I’ve been playing for 35 years and I don’t see what puts her in a class of her own like class of there own is randy Rhoads SRV jimmy page Eddie Van Halen prince they were all in a class of there own
I heard Lita during a Runaway sound check back in the day. Been a fan ever since. During that same tour, the bass player got sick during a show. Lita put her guitar down and picked up the bass. The show went on!
@@donsturgis6578 really? I met her once in 1988. Yes, i still have the autographed cassette. Say hey for me is you really work for her. (Parental Alienation should be a crime)
I met Lita at the NAMM show in 2019 and she might be the coolest human I ever met. We bullshited like old friends during an autograph signing. It was bizarre, it was like we knew each other, she was just the best. ❤️
Kieth Richards is the coolest human being I ever met, and Mick introduced me to the band in 1978 when me and my buddy were only 12. Keith invited us to stay and eat lunch at the table next to them at the Hyatt Regency in Memphis. The restaurant was empty except for us. Sorry to trump your story my man!
@@crusheverything4449 Haha. I failed to mention the very day before that I not only met the Wilson sisters there but went swimming with Nancy who was wearing a very taunt white 2 piece bikini. Her boyfriend, the lead guitarist, eventually tried to run me off and (not because I was being a dick) and she jumped his ass for being rude. I mentioned this to the Stones and Wyman had no idea who I was talking about so I mentioned Barracuda and Charlie explained it to him then Wyman grinned. I'm leaving a lot out but not trying to write a book in one comment.
She and Joan shoe-horned their way into a sort of all boys club and gave the boys with all the fuzz and distortion a run for their money. These ladies didn't even break a sweat doing it either. They kept up, beat the misogyny bulldozer and now Joan is an Icon above most! And hell, Lita had that duet with Ozzy! Don't forget that! God, find me a girlfriend like her!
Ahead a hell of alot better than Joan jett and jett was named top 100 influential guitar player. What a joke. It's all political and if she wasn't gay and liberal she wouldn't have got it. So many better players than jett out there.
I have listened to Lita from The runaways all the way up to the '80s highway up to the 90s and still got my cassettes you rock your ass off and I like that
don't miss your chance, she's playing this year, in fact, in March. starting at the Whiskey in L.A. on March 5th, 2023. then she'll be playing with warrant on 03/25/23 at Treasure Island Casino in Minnehopeless, i mean Minnesota. then May 6 at M3 Rock Festival in Columbia, MD. and the next day, Warrendale, PA. those are the only dates that i know of so be there or be square. you have no excuse this time around. don't make me come kidnap you for a Lita Ford show, don't worry, i'll return you back to your family after the show, safe, unharm and the time of your life. just like dirty dancing, and now, you will have the time of your life and you'll never felt like this before, yes you swear, it's true and you owe it all to this dude.
@@traviskissacdc32 Hell yeah dude! Have a awesome time at the show, Drink a beer for me cause when i see her at the Whiskey, i'll drink one for you. nice to know, there are still cool people out there, considering the crappy mess we're all in. we'll come back here and share stories after we both been to the show.
She did the same thing in a music store in Texas around the same time. I just happened to be there when she came in. I had no idea she was scheduled to be there. I got a signed photograph of her. She was promoting Alvarez guitars at the time.
I love this video, this is what these people in the 1980’s Los Angeles hard rock scene looked like in real life without makeup and lighting. What they looked like outside of MTV. Tom Sisson
She was around her early thirties, by the early 90s, when this was shot. But yeah, with the Runaways, in the mid to late 70s, she was definitely ahead of her time.
Backyard party at the rainbow last sept.2022.during that heat wave we had.. . rockin show .lita killed it..cant wait for the next one coming up in April..see u there
I got 2 meet her @ a ListenUp sound store around the same time In a blizzard in Denver CO. She was the coolest. I still have the pic of her, My homeboy & Myself. She had a new line of axes & they had a raffle for a guitar then too.
That’s funny but absolutely true. I wonder if anyone bought it afterwards and if they did did they try to get her to autograph it? Lucky it was the 90s or it’d be on eBay for a cool million.
She looks and sounds incredible!!!! Not a wrinkle! You can she feels the music and it is just there. Whole body and soul connection! God got her right!!!
Not to be confused by the album by The Police; is it synchronicity or coincidence? My late older brother co-wrote a song that ended up on Joan Jett's 'Bad Reputation' album. I was there at the time, along with Herbie Worthington, who did Lita's 'Out For Blood' album cover; and Larry Alexander, who recorded Lita's 'Dancing On The Edge' album. The 'demo' for this song was recorded at Studio 914, where Bruce Springsteen recorded the song-'Born To Run'; and the song is-'Too Bad On Your Birthday'. I was born on September 19th., same as Lita. About a dozen or so years after co-writing 'Too Bad On Your Birthday', my brother found himself on an island in The Caribbean, playing his guitar, when who walked up behind and introduced himself was Keith Richards. True story!
She is a guitar player straight up mAn. Meet her at G C San Diego 98 and at the Guitar Trader. She was doing clinics and dam we talked about the Runaways. I still love her and Ozzy.
For sure,I spent years running from that type of sound, give me brown sound or pretty much anything different, but she's not a bad player , she's no zakk Wilde or Marty Friedman but we all can't be that, lol
