With respect, when I visit my birthplace, Vienna, the Peterskirche, and a good look at the painting showing the Emperor Karl of Austria, is always a must. And the painting shows the features of a typical Austrian, yes I was im Bundesheer many years ago and I served with one kid that had the same features, spoke with a thick Tiroler "kch" and brought a bottle of clear stuff from the village. I woke up next morning ......but this is long ago. Oh Austria, it hurts.
He lived his brief life as an exemplary Christian, both publicly and privately, entirely dedicated to the love of God, the Church, his people, his family, in his work and in his home. He loved God and righteousness more than his own life. “Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness’ sake…” “Blessed are they who mourn…” “Blessed are they who are poor in spirit…” “Blessed are the peacemakers…” “Blessed are those who show mercy…” “Blessed are the pure of heart…” That about covers it! The official title “Blessed” granted by the Church means a documented, investigated, bona fide miracle was granted to someone by God through Emperor Karl’s prayers in Heaven, showing that he is alive in Heaven.
@@godblessamerica9356 The previous Catholic emperor, Franz Josef, was arrogant and selfish. He conducted wars for Austria's power. People were subjugated and women flogged in the 1840s. The Emperor Karl could have done more to stop the brutal treatment of Gavrilo Princip while he was chained, starved and beaten in a cold prison cell. Austria's prisons were barbaric.
