I liked the point about old brain rot being different, in the old days, they were experimental and made for fun, these days it feels like they’re constantly veering into “how do you do fellow kids” territory while trying to cash out as much money from it, almost like gentrification of sorts.

The thing is, our brainrot in the past had more humor and context in it imo. Examples like Pink sheep, purple shep, YTP Spiderman, YTP Sherk. They kept it real and authentic and they used more humor and randomness , manipulation of videos, editing and subversion of expectation. This new brainrot requires more understanding of the slang and misuse of the slang. Also that's why I found the first part at the beginning of the video funny when they said edge and goon as I understand what it means at 0:03 . The rest of the video with the skibidi, gyatt and rizz part wasn't funny *AT ALL* .
