For example if you had 1kW worth of appliances running, the battery would last 5 hours.

Great summary of LFP situation but not enough emphasis on QUALITY, you mention for 5 secs at the end. 99% of these pre assembled batteries are made in China and the cells used to make up the battery is critical. CATL are the biggest cell manufacture in the EV market for good reason, because they are the best full stop. I have clients in the UK that were pleased with EVE batteries three years ago but are already seeing degradation from daily cycling to 100% DOD. Buy batteries that contain certified quality cells and use them between 80 - 20% DOD ie avoid the steep part of the charge/ discharge curve for maximum cycle life. Discharge no less than 20% and recharge no more than 80% you will get >6000 cycles or 12 - 15 years.

Just bought a Solar system from Solar Advise, I see on your website the warranty on the battery is 5 years, video says I should ask why not 10 years?
@solaradvice
@solaradvice 6 месяцев назад
It depends on the battery, but for most of the batteries on the market it's 10 years.
@61JWolf
@61JWolf 21 день назад
@@solaradvice Doesn't really answer the intent of the question, does it? Your advice in this clip seems to indicate that any battery not covered by at least a 10 year warranty is probably better avoided. So, why are you selling one that is warrantied for less?
@solaradvice
@solaradvice 19 дней назад
@@61JWolfWe have 1 popular battery in our catalogue, it's reputable battery and is very reliable from our experience, why it has a 5 year warranty is down to the brand. Even with this limitation we felt it had great value regardless. Although if something were to happen to our clients battery after the 5 years we would still support them and work out way to fix any potential issue.

Yes. It doesn’t matter how much you consume as long as you replace what you have consumed it’s a cycle. Even if it’s 10%.

What is typical life time of LFP batteries in terms of cycles ?

The majority of them at the moment are 6000 cycles, from the low end 4000 up to 8000 cycles, there is a brand offering 10000!

Good day and thank you for this video. Kindly advise what to do, I have a 5kwh 200ah 24v lithium battery which is new. It charges well but at each attempt at discharge, the BMS trips off after a few minutes (sometimes up to 1 or 2 hours). Please what’s the possible cause for this and what can be done? I was thinking the inverter used is incompatible with it but I wonder if. Besides I want to be sure so that I’ll not change inverter and still face the same issue.
@solaradvice
@solaradvice 11 месяцев назад
It sounds like the comms between the inverter and battery isn’t right, do you if it is compatible? It can be as simple as replacing the comms cable for the correct one.

100 % DOD should be avoided at all costs in my opinion. I believe that a larger battery pack with CAN communications to your inverters are key. I wish you well.
@solaradvice
@solaradvice 2 года назад
For what reason would you not want the option of 100% DOD?
@jeremyallard5449
@jeremyallard5449 2 года назад
@@solaradvice 80% DOD should be a minimum with LIFEPO4 chemistry, I favour 60% DOD on a larger battery pack in series for longevity at 48 volts, it’s just a personal thing. Incidentally do the battery packs you were showing have a PCR Pre Charge Resistor built in too the on and off switch?
@solaradvice
@solaradvice 2 года назад
@@jeremyallard5449 manufacturers state 100% DOD but this to state that it could reach that limit, I agree that you wouldn’t want to deplete the reserve to that extent, I run mine to 75% although it is 80% DOD

I bought a lithium battery FUSION 4.8 to be specific, i was using GEL BATTERY before . Please help me with the settings of this battery to Axpert inverter in terms of charging and discharging and the communication (using comm cable) among themselves and if possible the fuse or breaker to use between them (Inverter and battery).
@solaradvice

If you have an Axpert then you don’t have the option of comms, you will have to set it in user defined and manually add the amps.

question, how do you know or check(if possible even) how many cycles you have or got left?, i mean, nowadays people buy batteries and use them for 5 days and return them cause they do not perform as expected, how do you know they are not selling you a used battery? and before you say, NO they WONT do that, believe me, where i am from, THEY WOULD LOL, a company here selling batteries only give a warrantee on them till cycles are depleted, so if its got 150 cycles, no warrantee even if the battery is 150 days old

Lol, good question, unfortunately you can’t unless it has an LCD screen, if it does then you can access it on there.

lithium-ion?? you mean "lithium iron phosphate"... WAY different!! they are 2 totally different chemistries. Li-ion has different characteristics than LiFePO4.
@solaradvice
@solaradvice 2 года назад
Correct, we refer to LifePO4 as lithium for simplicity sake, there aren’t many phosphate batteries for sale compared to LifePO4
@dobrzpe
@dobrzpe 2 года назад
@@solaradvice yes, sir. just making the clarification as you kept referring to them as "lithium ion" in the video. and the title is also "lithium ion". and what you have in the video, and talk about are not "lithium ion". they are lithium iron phosphate. WAY. DIFFERENT. it's like saying you are going to talk about 'what you need to know about alkaline batteries', then holding up a prismatic cell... not to beat a dead horse anymore, but sorry, words mean things.
@dobrzpe
@dobrzpe 2 года назад
if you had just kept to "lithium" batteries, it wouldn't be a big deal. or a deal at all! "lithium" batteries encompass a few different chemistries. it's that you kept saying "ion" after the lithium that is misleading.
