@@jemfelicia2454 but i thought the flame comes from the heat of the electrons going back to source, if they're already back to source, (discharged battery) that shouldnt happen. However real lithium batteries that use lithium , not lithium ions, will blow up regardless if you throw it in water, thats a different reaction.The non rechragable lithium AAA batteries are like this, have real lithium in it and I seen a video where someone opens one and throws it in water and it indeed blows up, but thats not the same reaction here. I have a lithium cel like this, 1.5v aaa its at 0v , im scared to throw it away it really is a bomb. Not these in the video after you discharge them. But the only way to know for sure is to try yourself.

U shouldn't disassemble lithium battery without gloves. Lithium reacts with water and forms lithium hydroxide. It generates a lot heat and fire. It can burn your hand
Lithium also reacts with Oxygen. Because lithium is positively charged while oxygen is negatively charged. What you are seeing is the production of Lithium Oxide.
Before open it up, you should discharge completely, then it doesn’t flame up. You also should wear protection gloves and don’t do this indoor whatsoever.

While charged if you separate the plates like that it is very dangerous, also the intercallated lithium ions will become free lithium once the plates are decoupled as shown by the water reaction.😮
