Episode 7 of my home patch big year at Horn Pond Recreation Area in Eastern Massachusetts, featuring 12 new birds for the list including Scarlet Tanager, Blue-winged Warbler, Ovenbird, and Orchard Oriole. Also in this episode I show the nice views from the top of Horn Pond mountain.

Another interesting and fine video - most enjoyable, especially the male Scarlet Tanager!

I had a Great-crested Flycatcher in my suburban Minnesota neighborhood back in August. It hid in the trees and I never was able to get eyes on it, which was frustrating, especially when because it would have been a lifer.

Thank you for these videos. I am new to birding and am enjoying your format and presentation. I am about 30 - 40 min north of you in Nashua so it is great to see something really local. I saw in another comment from a previous video that you were thinking about making a presentation on your camera gear and hopefully, process. I would be very interested in seeing that for sure.

Hi Dan, glad you like the videos. I am planning to make a couple videos on cameras for birding over the summer when the birding slows down.

Excellent channel but the autofocus in video mode is very poor. What camera was used?

@@lcador9 I film handheld and then stabilize in post. This creates the artifacts you are seeing. I’m working on reducing this as much as possible. I don’t want to use a tripod.

Ah, yes, the Brown Headed Cowbird. The deadbeat dad of the birding world, lol.

Haha that is a good way to put it! Low effort parenting.
