Hey there, guys!!!
I'm playing around with some ways to upload videos from my trips to the Little Bighorn Battlefield.
This one is an utter mess but I thought I'd test it out to see how it all transfers here... 😬🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

Thank for the effort! On the 25th I was thinking about you, George and Co. One good thing is viewers get to see the major force that shaped the landscape.

The horse hoof is interesting as it was written somewhere that a horse supposedly Custer's was found and the officers made ink wells out of them. Thought it may have been Dandy or Vic but dont remember for sure even if it was Custer's horse now that I mention it... thought it was.

Had it been this anomalous on that hot June day in 1876 concerning the weather, I imagine a storm would have affected the battle greatly. I actually think that Custer could have escaped by the skin of his teeth, possibly repeating his tactic during the Washita. Battle errors aside (and Benteen's unwillingness to aid Custer sooner on Last Stand Hill), I think the Little Bighorn would have ended quite differently with rain like this. Visibility (or the lack thereof) makes a huge difference in any engagement. Great video!

No,, doubt it would have. Still insubordination of those under you will always bring bad results. I was placed in charge of a group of people in an office atmosphere type setting. Well it didn't take long for one individual to begin to buck the chain of command. I no doubt they had a reason but, at the end of the day the objective of our work was not fully completed. I know its a big stretch from a battle field ( Some offices do feel like battlefields, hahaha) but humans will be humans. It just takes a little jealous to bring down a great project.

@@hugonarvaez2944 I'm at a loss to come up with my own what-if concerning this scenario, simply because I can't think of any actual battle during the Indian Wars fought under such extreme weather conditions. Maybe if I have more coffee I'll be able to think of one!

Recalling my visit to LBH over a decade ago. Actually and stupidly walked the road from last stand hill to the Reno-Benteen defense site. Didn't realize that you leave the park from last stand hill and through an Indian reservation (Cheyenne I think) Didn't realize they had buffalo on the res and they weren't fenced. Situation could have gotten ugly but I was fortunate as I was accompanied by someone on horseback. He followed me most of the way, staying behind me and switching from one of the road to the other. Crow Indian tour buses frequently honked and smiled probably thinking, "look at that damn idiot walking." It was one hell of a walk and day. Did see my first rattlesnake crossing the road. Very cool.

This kind of proves the point that the markers were not submerged nor Deep Ravine... so named... did not get changed a bit. Nor the monument and markers over the 150 years. So digging with an excavator back in the 80's was just an example of running faster but not knowing where they were going. Sure glad this was made... really important.

Little Bighorn is an extremely sobering battlefield. I was disappointed that deep ravine was not accessable to the river. I left the battlefield with more questions than answers. We were there on 7/19/23 and stayed at the 7th Ranch Campground at Garryowen (the huckleberry ice cream was wonderful!) We also drove to the Medicine Wheel in the Big Horn Mountains. It is a very scenic drive. It's definitely worth the trip, and I hope to return soon.

I hear great things about the 7th Ranch but as of yet have never been! They are planning renovations and construction on the Visitors Center and LBH battlefield this coming summer of 2024 so I think I have to skip my annual trip 😭 but I too can't wait to get back 🙏 Thank you for commenting!

The site of the engagement is on the Crow reservation, meaning these Sioux* invaded Crow lands, the purpose for the incursion being to raid for supplies before the journey to Canada. The question as to why approximately one-third of the Sioux nation chose war, placing women and children in danger, was due to contamination of their water supply, the contamination originating from the mining for gold in the Black Hills. --------------- * Joined by 1,500 Cheyenne and 300 Arapaho.

@@SiobhanFallon7 I remember seeing the building and land for sale. Kortlander was selling it all for 6 million, I believe. Aaaah, would that I had that kind of money! I would have made the purchase without hesitation. In many ways, I thought Kortlander's museum in Garryowen was more interesting than the actual battle site museum. I too wonder what happened to the collection. It grieves me to hear how the area has become deteriorated, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is being unkempt. Surely, at some point in the near future, a group of enthusiastic volunteers will rectify that situation. Thanks for the video. I hope your trip along the Greasy Grass was enjoyable, despite the rain.
