Small detail just for completeness: the "feijoada" mentioned in 5:22 is found all across Brazil, and it was first documented in Recife, in the state of Pernambuco. So singling it out as a "typical dish from Rio de Janeiro" is a bit weird.

@@jonatanferreira2154 O fato de que a coroa portuguesa desembarcou no Rio não contradiz a alegação de que o primeiro registro do prato no Brasil foi em Recife, e eu nunca falei que o registro em Recife foi por conta de escravos. She's so right Brazilians take everything personally they are very loud and even they argue a lot about little things. They are also very close to each other their families and friends you can even have a great relationship almost like family with their neighbors. If you are from outside and you do them wrong or you even you have a little problem with them it could be hell sometimes because they take everything to the heart if you can be in trouble for little things like scratch their car in an accident or something like that.

It depends on the region. In Southern Brazil culture is very similar to that of Europe, since 40% of the Santa Catarina state population have German roots. Parana has a huge Slavic influence in culture and genetics (Poland, Ukraine and Russia), Rio Grande do Sul has a typical gaucho culture, but with obvious strong Portuguese background and Italian & German later influences. The "loud" part i see when i go to famous parks here which are visited by many people from other regions, sometimes i even forget about that cultural differences but remind of them easily when I'm at this parks or when i travel. The Northeast is very different from the North which is very different from the South... the North has more indigenous influences, the Northeast is more African-derived, specially the beautiful culture of Bahia. Every region has its peculiarities, but the center of the country has more of this characteristics you mentioned, which is shared with the Northeast. The US and Brazil are very similar in the plurality of influences, yet regional differences in Brazil are stronger.

As far as work, school and shopping areas different ethnicities, races etc might coexist. But overall there very segregated neighborhoods in Miami. Hispanics in general move around in the western or South western side of the Miami Dade county area. ( Which is not Miami Beach btw ). The northern part of Miami is predominantly African American with Bahamian and Caribbean influences. The North East of Miami specifically 62nd - 135th streets have a large Haitian population. Mainly west of Biscayne or West Dixie highway. I could go on but it would be too detailed and confusing to you. In short people stick to their ethnic racial groups generally speaking. It’s just the reality of it. I myself am originally from NYC so I explore other cultures & neighborhoods. Most people don’t and won’t.

I’m a American who lived in Brazil (Minas Gerais) and it was one of the most amazing time in my life. Plus I was confused because Feijoadas has pork and never seen it made with beef or cow feet as mentioned here. Plus during my time there I have not seen many middle class family with maids so I don’t think is the norm that every middle class household has a maid. Brazil is a amazing country for sure but corruptions from the government don’t allow Brazil to be a even more economic powerhouse in Latin America. Plus crime is major cites is a problem. But I love Brasil that when I returned back to the States I had a hard time speaking my family language (Spanish) because I was saying words and Girias in Portuguese with a Brazilian accent. If you see my early videos on RU-vid you can see it.

Mineiro here, it's always pork, she was definitely tripping about this. As for the maid thing, she was referring to the 1980s, that's dramatically changed in the past couple of decades. My divorced middle class grandmother had a maid and a gardener back then living in a 4 bedroom in Belo Horizonte.

As a Brazilian I can say, most Brazilians cannot afford maids anymore. It used to be the case though, when maids were allowed to be “slaved”. As per the kids not making their own bed. Not true as well. She was clearly from a upper privileged class. Also, Brazil is a big country and very diverse and this idea that people goes with the flow is very far from the reality. Brazilians are generally quite workaholic and in big cities, rather career driven. Maybe she just tried to express her reality. I had the feeling she didn’t even get some of his great questions. I reckon he tried to extract more from her. So much that could be explored regarding the life of Brazilians immigrants in US, which is rather different from the one in Europe for instance.
