Duyu, you are an enabler. You are partially to blame for Yuan Tong. If you love her, you should be advising her to be less evil rather than begging people to cover for her.
With no intention to justify the actions of her character, I can't help but pity Yuan Tong. Apart from her brother and her fiancé pretty much nobody ever cared for her as an individual. Her brother was too "great" a person for her ever to reach him (even her military position is inherited). Having to shoulder the family legacy since childhood. Her mother's constant bossing and nagging about the family honor. An engagement to somebody for status, not love. Her mother's suicide (without a propper apology to the man she wronged, of course) leaving her completely open and alone. And let's not forget Lord Thunder - the most disloyal ally ever. Her resolve to take charge and avenge consequences she brought upon herself twisted Yuan Tong further. Small wonder she became a demoness and ended her life in despair😔
