English:
Last sunday I met a group of bikers on the way back while riding on one of my favorite roads, the two riders in front of me in the video were probably a couple, I think the guy in the back was giving some advice to the girl in front. Initially I hoped they would just let me pass because they were relatively slow in the corners and they could also talk to each other, but it appeared they just didn't think I wanted to go faster and because on the straights they actually were quite fast (at least for me) it was a bit of a struggle to find a way through, so I just waited for a good opportunity, yes I probably could have passed them before by accelerating a bit harder in a few spots, but I didn't want to be an asshole and do a risky pass. Anyway let me know in the comments what you would have done if you were in my situation.
Italiano:
Bike: Honda CB 500 F (stock)
Camera: GoPro Hero 5 session

Really nice riding. I've also got a CB500F, you really show it's how you ride, people look down on these bikes, personally I think they're great and I've been riding bigger bikes for the last 20 years.

Thank you, I also think that people tend to underestimate the potential of this kind of bikes, because at the end of the day you don't really need a 1000cc to go fast and have fun on public road

Thank you, also maybe they just thought that because I wasn't as fast on the straights it wasn't worth it to let me pass, I don't know, personally I always try not to block anyone even though usually people can easily pass me on the straights without me having to do anything

totally agree and I thought exactly the same word while watchig - a..holes. if someone's riding along and see a small bike appearing in the back, than means in general that bike goes faster even if it doesn't accelerate so well on straights. the rider in front at some point did a really terrible move, when he was slow on a straight the OP almost made a move to overtake and he suddenly cracked open the throttle almost wheeling. really bad riding on their part. I never had problems letting 125cc bikes pass me on a 'big' bike when I clearly saw they went faster through corners. well done for the OP for keeping it cool though 👍 I was once going downhill on an Alpine pass and was overtaken by a maxi scooter of some sort with TWO people on board! it made lough out loud in that helmet of mine for how fast they were going through corners. obviously I had potential to go faster but I was just going along fairly lively, I saw the scooter approaching fairly fast so I saw no point in accelerating just because a scooter is about to smoke me. saying that, the rider was really using all the potential of those tyres and I didn't even want to follow him not to push him any more. At least now I've got a story about being outraced on a 900cc bike by a maxi scooter 😅

@PLL Lot some people can ride fast on basically anything that has two wheels, on the street it's always better to not let your ego take over and just let them go, even tho I know sometimes is not that easy

Nice riding, nothing wrong with your overtake, if people are slower on the bends then why can't they just move over and let someone making quicker progress get on their way?

I don't mean to tell you what to do man you can do exactly what you want i don't care at all but you shift way too early all the time in all your videos and it's something i see a lot of peoples do like they rev their engine sometimes yeah but most of the time they just shift too early and don't use all the power of their engine
@MatteoBaldi
@MatteoBaldi Год назад
No you are right, it's something I'm just used to do because most of the time you don't really need all the power, but I agree that in some situations I could rev the engine a bit more. I think I'm slowly getting better at staying at higher revs to exit corners more quickly, but yeah I'm still working on it. Thanks for the feedback tho👍

Never heard someone call a 500cc small lol
@MatteoBaldi
@MatteoBaldi 10 месяцев назад
Well it depends on what you are comparing it to, it's definitely not small compared to a 125cc, but I feel like it is if you compare it to a bike that has double the cc and three or four times the power

@@MatteoBaldi I'm on a 125 and can quite as easily keep up with my brother on his sv 650 on twisty roads anyway once it opens up he's away lol but I prefer smaller bikes you actually have to ride them and work the gears instead of just sitting in one or 2 gears cruising it's just a shame 2strokes are disappearing
@MatteoBaldi
@MatteoBaldi 10 месяцев назад
I agree, on twisty roads I feel like the rider makes most of the difference and on the street you will almost never take a corner faster than 120/130 km/h (at least for the roads we have around here) so you definitely don't need a fast bike to go fast

Serious question from Austria: do you learn to ride like that and ignore speed limits, blocked spaces, etc. in italian driving school, or is it just "personal improvement"? Don´t get me wrong, I always enjoy this "anarchy" on italian roads. :) Except for the tailgaiting, which REALLY pisses me off.^^
@MatteoBaldi
@MatteoBaldi 2 месяца назад
@@kreiselkotz interesting question, I don't really have an answer, I'm aware that Italians are known for driving recklessly (I don't know if you have ever been to the south but it's even worse than in the north), but I'm not sure why we do that, I think there are many factors that have a role in it but I feel like it's mostly a cultural thing, you surely don't learn it in driving schools, that's for sure, you just adapt to how everyone else is driving. It's also interesting because from our point of view when we see tourists driving on our roads we often think that they don't know how to drive, wich sometimes is true, but a lot of times its just because they drive differently from what we are used to.

@@MatteoBaldi Grazie mille, Matteo. In my opionion, that is a legit, honest and absolutely appropriate answer to my question.^^ I´ve been travelling all around Italia for many years now. First it was hard, but then I adopted. And for sure, those people in the south ARE driving like maniacs. Anyway, riding in Italia for me always is like beeing free. Traffic signs are suggestions, lane markings are decorations and so on. And one can even have a discount on a speeding tickets if it´s paid in short time. 😄 Funny thing you mention tourist drivers that are not common with local habits. How do you ride in other countries? Yes, this is a catch question...😇
