My favorite DOS puzzle game is Supaplex, but I guess it's quite well now at this point. Back in the day I managed to beat the game, one of my proudest gaming accomplishments of all time. (I'll never stop bragging about it when given a chance x)

The Fool's Errand! It's a fiendish game, seriously, where the solutions of the previous puzzles form the later puzzles themselves... It's uncompromisingly hard, there's a hint book made by the developer himself somewhere floating online

The Fool's Errand is one I recall briefly toying around with but I didn't have the right frame of mind to enjoy it when I was young. Seems I need to find & try this one again. Thanks.

It's definitely not on the easy side overall, even if some of the single smaller puzzles might be.

At 23:42, did you say "re-reCORGIng"? XD OMGBBQ! Ahem! I wasn't expecting these games and they're all new to me (except for the ones you've talked about in other videos). I guess there are lots and lots of puzzle games to choose from on DOS. :) I share your sentiment about timers. And the way the speed ramps up in the games with a Tetris inspiration is kind of adding a timer too. Scary stuff. :D Fool's Errand sounds very interesting. I like additional stories to tie up the puzzles. :) Btw, have you heard of Puzzle Agent? It's a newer game, but it has an intriguing art style and story to it.

puzzling puzzlers... they come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and ages. yet some feel evergreen. lets see if anything here could challange likes of the incredible machine, lemmings, pushover. (Quadralien) i suspect it is no conincidence that this was released few years after Chernobyl, the contaiment of contamination was fresh on everyone's minds. to have an inspired puzzle game out of reasonable concerns is very creative way to deal with fears and frustrations and whilst it dose appear to be excessively hard (way above my inteligence level just by hearing the explainer and watchign the footage) i am guessing it was made relatively quickly. (fool's errand) that is very intriging, puzzles building atop of each other's solutions. very clever idea! (Lexi-cross) definitively seen this before on the channel and yep it is still fascinating idea. yep puzzlers are good even on budget games, probbly because they are not as reliant on cutting edge technologiesand possibly because they naturaly attract specific type of develper, one with extenssive dedication to silly ideas they are putting into games (it is telling that undertale is pretty much puzzle game if you play pacfist)
@OldAndNewVideoGames
@OldAndNewVideoGames 2 месяца назад
Well, these puzzlers may not be as good, but they're nearly as good. And that's as much as we can hope for when it comes to the subs bench. ;) You know I haven't thought about Quadralien like that, but you may be correct. It may have been inspired by the Chernobyl. It would make perfect sense. If you like Puzzles, The Fool's Errand is really deep and fun. You'll love it. Puzzlers are a very unique genre that can rely on mechanics alone and can even have close to no graphics and sounds, if the idea's there and working. :)

@@OldAndNewVideoGames i do like that trying to get me to do smart anything is in itself fool's errand so the game title fits me way too perfectly .) i have tried and strived to play things like Talos Principle (1) and baba is you and both games are far too clever for me somehow. but i am glad to own them because they are incredible works in their ownright and yes baba is you perfectly encapsulates this solid idea well done can make it even with simple graphics. (theoreticaly lowest possible to relate the idea). But i was always more fan of silly things like the incredible machine, lemmings, blood (yes as civvie 11 said "its like playing a puzzle game with dynamite") etc. so glad they got their spotlight and thanks again for the episode!

Quadralien is new to me but I’m downloading it now as it seems fun? Fool’s Errand is also new to me but unique or not, being severely dyslexic, it sounds & looks like hell to me to be honest? 😂 I may still give it a go though given your recommendation. 😊 I love Klax & whilst it’s a but hard to explain why it’s another I have a special place in my heart for on the Atari Lynx. Speaking of games that look like hell given my dyslexia, Lexi-Cross! It’s probably perfectly within my capabilities but it still makes my bum tight. I actually know Stone Age from the Amiga where it was excellent & the PC version looks just the same? I wish I could say exactly the same for Troddlers but I don’t know it at all? I do know X-it from PC but it’s been long enough that I could probably go back to it now & the puzzles will still seem new to me. Zoop’s got a “shareware” look to it & that’s not always a bad thing but it would explain the poor difficulty balancing? Fairly sure you introduced me to Quadrax & I appreciate it, thank you, because I would have overlooked it back in ‘96 & it’s surprisingly engaging given it’s simplicity. Never played Morph? It may have had a different name here in the UK as there was a beloved 80’s animated character of that name? Either way I’ve never played it but it looks worth a go. I love puzzle games (except when they have timers) so seeing a fare few to try for the first time makes for a great video, thanks!

Quadralien is tough as nails, best if you also seek out the manual, cause without it, it's a nightmare to grasp. Fool's Errand is amazing and I'm sure you would appreciate it, though indeed, it has quite a few different word puzzles. Not most though, just some. So you know... One to try and see if it lands for you. I always sucked at Klax, it's just too fast, and I'm, well, not. ;) So, that's why you get to see only first 3 stages in the footage. Zoop is like Klax but better. Also much more demanding much faster. First five minutes of gameplay is pure fun, like literally, you just clear the pieces, and are so proud of yourself for doing it so well, but then, when everything seems to be stacking up "at the gates" all at once, it gets too hectic. xD Morph is good, but nowhere near as good as Fury of the Furries is. It's worth a look, cause the premise is pretty well done, even if the game has a very unforgiving timer that it runs off. I knew you'd like this one, and I'm sure you'll enjoy the next! I'm (at least so far) having blast with it. :)

Have you thought of turning your scripts and publishing a video game history book/ebook in Polish? The downside is your channel might be found out, along with the harpy boss' wife jokes.

I haven't. It would actually mean re-writing all of it in Polish. Not saying no, but haven't crossed my mind, and I'm not sure that there's enough market/interest in the subject in Poland to be honest.

Uh, liberal and leftist is not the same "The simplest distinction between liberals and leftists is that liberals support capitalism and want to make changes within it, while leftists vouch for an alternative economic system entirely. For example: where a liberal would theoretically support the inclusion of gay people into the U.S. military, a leftist might oppose the military in general, believing the U.S. military to be a harbinger of death and therefore deplorable no matter which marginalized groups are represented in its ranks. Where a liberal would support laws heavily limiting civilian gun ownership, a leftist might support the arming of the masses, and particularly of the marginalized groups of society, because the disarming of those groups has historically allowed for violent government suppression."
