Our last batch of kids were born almost a week ago -- but we're pretty worried about the littlest one.
Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

I adore how the toddler sleeping pile was perfectly color coordinated. As a person who struggles with various ridiculous symptoms of OCD, I particularly approve of this organized sleeping pile. Well done Toddlers. Next, color sorted and alphabetized by name.

Aww.. poor little thing. He was so tiny and to me, looked like he hadn't developed properly in the face/head. His eyes were a little wonky when he was born and his tongue was always sticking out to one side. Nubs is now in a better place, playing with little Delilah and being watched over by Penny.

Nubs had the best chance at life he could have had, being born on your little goat farm! It's so hard seeing a loved animal pass away, but it's part of life and teaches us great lessons of making the best of every day we have!

Oh Danelle, I don’t usually cry, because I know these things happen, but for some reason this one got me. I started crying as soon as you showed him. But the short time he was here, he got the best chance and even got to run around and play. You always do the absolute best for your goats. So happy you have so many healthy kids and mommas this year as well. Love your farm so much ❤❤

Longhorn Lester's had a little runt that looked a lot like Nubs. The mama abandoned him & they tried their best but internally something was wrong. The vet recommended the last act of kindness so they did what was best for him. He'll be at peace now.

Yep. And this year most of the US has had an unseasonably warm, short winter with multiple rapid swings from high temps to below freezing with snow in many places and back warm again. It’s been ESPECIALLY harsh on animals who grow thick winter coats & thus can’t regulate their body temp with such wild swings in temps. So many people I know personally & channels I watch have had animals suffer mild to severe respiratory illnesses. With several people losing animals to such illnesses…LGDs, pet dogs, highland cattle, lamas/alpacas, sheep, fluffy goats, some short haired cattle & even chickens, ducks, geese & other birds. A friend & neighbor lost half her flock of various types of fancy chicken breeds over the last week totally 11 birds to pneumonia. 😕 Not to mention now here in the southern eastern/western US and many other parts of the country massive amounts of pollen has also hit. Between the swings in temps, pollen & rapid swings barometric pressure my sinuses are driving me nuts & Im have migraines triggered by all 3! Hope it levels out soon! Also hope we don’t have an insanely hot summer like last year!🤞🏻🙏🏼🤞🏻😕

I had a feeling when he was born, but I kept HOPING he'd pull a Newt and just grow and thrive and maybe just be tiny. Never easy to say goodbye to them, but at least now Chunk can have a chance to be "the little guy" in the kid yard for a little while. They all have so much love from y'all - Hugs!

I’ve been watching you guys for years now and have seen so many baby goats born and go onto their forever homes. I can maybe count on one hand how many baby goats haven’t made it. Danelle, you gave little Nubs the best care he could of gotten with the challenges he was facing and would of faced had he continued to live. I think he was just too underdeveloped and would of more than likely had a life full of medical complications. All he knew of this world was love from you, your family, and his brother. Hugs.

RIP Nubs, you got a chance to be loved and cared for by your younger brother, giving him comfort up until your final days and in return he sat with and cuddled you until the bitter end. You may not have been here long but you won't be forgotten in the history of Weed 'em, Chunk will live on for you both now, rest your little soul and say hello to Penny for us in that green pasture in the sky. I knew the second you showed him struggling to stand, he wasn't long for this world but that's okay. Thank you for giving him a fighting chance despite the odds being so against him. He got to spend that little more time with Chunk, got to enjoy some good milk and meet a massive creature not like himself (Casper being the sweet boy he was, worrying for him), you did all you could for him. You did a wonderful job Danelle. Thank you for sharing even the bitter parts of raising goats.

No matter how bad their odds are, it’s still sad if they pass. I cry with each loss and feel triumphant with each victory. I really wanted goats because of you but I don’t have the space for them. 🥲 I’ll do gardening and raise chicken and maybe quail. I’m old so I need it to be easy. Nubs reminded me of little Delilah that you guys lost a few years back. So sad to see it happen but that’s the unfortunate reality of breeding sometimes. It's amazing how different species of animals can get along so well, and sense when somethings not right. Casper was morning Nubs. It's always hard to loose an animal that you've cared for. But he had love and cuddles and the best life until he had to leave. Big hugs.
