I didn't know that, Annie is so old.

It's based on the poem, not the comic strip

Interesting. Wikipedia makes no mention of anything before the comic strip starting in 1924, except of course the original poem from 1880 something. Maybe some editing there is in order.

Spelling of Orphan is wrong. I have watched this film years ago. It's really good movie.

Maybe you can time travel to 1918 and stop them from "misspelling" the title, Theresa.

It's not. It's how the poem was written in the 1880s.

"Orphan". No "t" at the end.

On the other hand, that strange spelling appears on the title of the film itself.

The author was no idiot. Just a ruralized form, in the same way that Tolerable became "Tol'able" David. Against becomes "agin". Directly becomes "drectly".

Or Popeye wants to see an "Elephink" in the zoo, lol

It's a poet's spelling, and it's on purpose. He chose to misspell that and many other words in this movie, as he believes it brings across his meaning better when read aloud. He's well aware of the actual spelling. "Orphant" Annie is meant to sound like "orphaned" Annie. Do a little research.
