Little Simz brings her mum on stage to accept the award for Best New Artist at this year's BRITs. The award was presented by Olympian Tom Daley and 2021 BRIT Award winner Celeste.

BIG statement telling everyone her FULL African name. Historically Black people with traditional african names use shortened versions or adopt a more European name to be accepted/ deemed acceptable to society! That was a subliminal message to the world that we as a people will no longer be disregarded, dismissed or disrespected and forced into a box we will be unapologetically us!

Listen to her album, Stillness in Wonderland. It's a metaphor for her life as a musician making her feel like she's living in Wonderland - a fake, too-good-to-be-true world - as she realizes that she needs to come back to the real world to help and care for those around her. I've listened to it more times than I can count, and it never gets old.
