These really hit the feels of being an Asian American daughter and the love of our parents wanting what is best for our future through their never ending hard work❤️ Lol I’m probably just sensitive but I almost cry when she almost didn’t go to college because she was worried about her dad and his business, but he gave her such a heart warming talk of reassurance 🥲

Most Asian parents have high expectations of their son or daughter. I’m in Canada and I had similar experience. My parents worked many hours a day just to put my siblings and I to university. Education is very important in Asian culture.

On a scale of 0-10, how fucked up is it that when he told her "I love you," I thought "well that's not very realistic" 😭😭😭 It was usually "You're so smart, you have so much potential, I don't understand why you're getting such bad grades!" But it's nice to see the ideal healthy and happy version of how it goes for some people. But portraying a healthy childhood isn't exactly relatable for me personally 😅 My parents were finally more accepting of me finding a job I enjoy so long as I'm earning enough to live and get by. Instead of software engineering, I chose UX Design. A tech job that pays well but also can be a fun job for me.

Not the case with most immigrants from before the 80" and even now. My parents worked in the restaurant and clothing factory, they certainly did not want me nor my siblings to go into the same jobs they had. They worked hard to push us to get a better future than working in a hot kitchen, waiting on tables or working in a factory.

well this is just a short film, if they had to film the girl going back to her room and then go back to her dad again it would be twice as long. Still pretty much the same rule everywhere for envelopes or wrapped presents I'm sure. Unless you're told by the gifter to open your envelope or present now, you know not to open them.
