That first restaurant, The Ukrainian National Home you visited actually has great food. Veselka does as well. Too bad you didn't visit the Ukrainian Museum on 6th (great space) which was nearby the restaurants and there is also another one in a fabulous old building, The Ukrainian Institute of America on 79th. You also missed St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Church near the first Museum. The Russian Bathhouse is hardly Ukrainian but something I guess to notice. Hope you'll visit NYC and maybe other cities like Chicago that also has a large Ukrainian neighborhood.
G’day Tania, so glad to see you enjoying your well earned break, and thank you for sharing the images of so much support for Ukraine. Here’s hoping you make it to Australia one day 😊 Slava Ukraini 🧡🌻🇺🇦
Just watched your video never been to New York , but you whip my travelling bug, I might have to put that on my itinerary as well as seeing the Ukrainian places of interest
Tanya, thanks for the memories. I remember going to Veselka with my dad when we lived in NJ. Love the "make borscht, not war". The bar looked interesting with KGB & Lenin portraits. Take care. Have fun! Slava Ukraini. ❤️🇺🇦
I lived right nearby and loved "Veselka: and the "Ukranian National Home" restaurant. "Cafe Kiev" nearby was wonderful as well. All the perfect places for great home cooked food, (just like my grandmother made) especially comforting on cold winter days---the best.
Little Italy is a huge and long walking street with many Italian restaurants and very large crowds. I also went to the Russian bath house, it is a very good choice, relax in the ice cold pool after you have been in the very hot sauna or hot tub. Also pour ice cold buckets of ice water over your head while in the sauna, that is what a Russian in there was doing and told me to do, it was a very enjoyable. ( ⚠CAUTION: DO NOT SWIM IMMEDEDIATLEY IN THERE ICE COLD POOL AFTER YOU WERE IN A VERY HOT SAUNA OR HOT TUB, THAT IS VERY DAGERIOUS ! )
they are using some nice looking decorations in this restaurant specially the pumpkins and the flags they are showing a lot of support to Ukraine people. its like they are sending a message that bad times will end and good times are coming . fall in love with veselka . i didn't know they have a soviet bar in newyork
Hey Tanya great to see you again. I truly hope you have had a wonderful time in the States. If this is your last post before travelling home, please have a safe trip back. That train trip from Warsaw to Kyiv is a looong one so I hope you manage to sleep. Take care and see you soon xxx
Greetings from New York. When you were in Little Ukraine you were only 14/15 blocks from where I live in Kips Bay. Good seeing you. Stay safe Tanya, God Bless and Slava Ukraine.
You know adverts on all channels are annoying and I skip most of them as quick as I can. But not on your channel Tanya, I always let them run. I hope you get the revenue. Every little helps as they say in Tesco's UK lol Thank you for sharing.
Chicago also has Ukrainian village, but apart from eating vareniki I dont remember it been quite as nice as this, though im sure over the years its probably modernised.Nice to feel at home when your not at home, have a safe journey back.
So glad to see you Tanya! So you are in New York for a couple more days. If you are heading home after that, please let me know in email or something because I just need to know you got back safely. I wish I had someplace like this near me I could visit! I wish I could visit such things with you so I can learn as much as I can. I am looking forward to being able to hopefully communicate with you more outside of RU-vid comments for learning and friendship. Those usually go together. Perhaps if they can't plainly tell you are Ukrainian, you can tell them and that might resolve any camera issues? Unless the concerns are different from that. If I were a business supporting Ukraine and someone like you walked in, I would be so excited and treat you like a VIP! Oh, look at that mural on the wall with the dove on the flag! Perfect statement about Ukraine!
I like the Veselka Restaurant. My original reply was deleted by You Tube , as I commented on the KGB bar. Let's see how this goes. Automatic door opening or not. Better use a piece of material on that door handle . HAA Covid is still around. Ask to see a cold stubbie from bar fridge. Open it with your bottle opener. Is there a picture of Putin. Move to the other end of Bar. Would you eat potatoe chips opened behind the scene. This could be interesting. You did say you were going to visit. 😎 ( slap). 🤐
Lots of Ukrainians in Pennsylvania but most have been here over 100years so much more removed from the culture.than in NY. My family migrated in the early 1900s
I hope you are enjoying your vacation from Kyiv but it feels little like you are looking for a Ukraine without a war... I don't think either of these places are going to fill the place in your heart that loves Kyiv.
Tanya is asleep at the moment. Could be a while. I also feel the warmth from this land. Many thoughts come to mind. Buying property . And returning it to Ukraine . This is one idear. As Russia might be doing the same.
@@aldulaimi1302 you can go there and maybe do Voluntary work. Russia has rebuilt in Odessa . And places it's own people there. They are dominant. The proportion of occupation before the War was small to Country. I guess Odessa is higher. I think the general population of Russians are willing to work togeather with the Country. Keep in mind going there . Would be becoming involved in Community . When a Siren sounds and a building is hit by a missile. Reality, and with that affects your brain. One has to cope with that. At the moment . Welcome to the channel. We all feel the Warmth. May Peace be with you. 🙏
There was one store in Brighton Beach that changed its name from "Taste or Russia" to "International Foods" after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. They made the new name to be country neutral to make sure they would never have to change the name again.
