Check out my guitar courses here : lessons.albertolombardi.com/ Tuning is E standard for your learning convenience, we all know the original is in Eb. Thanks for leaving your thoughts down in the comments!
I've been playing this song for 15 years. That was by far the best tutorial I've ever seen on it. You really did capture the most subtle aspects of it and gave a clear explanation of what's happening. Thank you so much for this!
Agree with you brother you most have a lot feeling to play it by the way I learned shine on you crazy diamond it seems easy is not to hard to play it but if you don’t add the feeling forget about will sound totally different i used to play the song without the felling it was not satisfactory until i did it I heard the fruits
Wow! Never heard that tune so eloquently played. You have an artist's ear and a teacher's heart. Thank you my brother for making it possible for me to learn this tune a little at a time.😊
The more I dwelve into Hendrix playing the more I realize I have so much to learn . The subtle details just makes the playing more beautiful .. great lesson!
Easily the best instructional video and breakdown of this great rock anthem I’ve come across. Great closeups, sound, and kudos for playing it slowly and methodically, and breaking it down rhythmically! 10/10 ⭐️
It literally took me a year to make enough time to get through your video, but I’m proud to say that I FINALLY feel very good about my progress and absolutely could NOT do it without you. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I can no longer bear to hear myself playing this version of Little Wing. I knew something was wrong but could not quite pinpoint them. Now this is the missing piece I've been searching for! Thank you so much for sharing. Time for me to re-learn this song. Subscribed!
Definitely the best tutorial around, great! Dynamics, the most important part, are explained super clear. Would be great if you could post rest of the song, I bet it would be spectacular as well :)
This is the perfect lesson. You' ve played it like no other. Not many can hear the gentleness and dynamics of Jimi. I hear the same as you, but can't play it like you. I'm working on that! Greetings from Argentina
This was simply amazing. I have listened to this song more times that I can remember and I can pick up straight away the small differences people make when playing this song. The biggest compliment I can make is I closed my eyes and I swear I thought it was Jimi himself playing. You picked up ever nuance, every subtle detail. The song is genius in that regard and you my friend are incredible.
I had been learning this song on Tim Peirce RU-vid channel I was going to go over it again with Mr. Peirce and stumbled on to your video and I like this one not to say anything negative on Tims but I'm going to use your video I like going of the cord he probably does too but I must off missed it but I have been practicing my technique maybe that's why I'm getting into this vedio I'll be hear for a while and i dig you teaching its like play by play Monday night tutorial..Roland J Gutierrez from Magdalena New Mexico USA...
This is no doubt the best tutorial for this song. All nuances and little details are there explained clearly and with great insight. Can someone please confirm the song is played in standard tuning here? Got my guitar tuned half step flat as most people say jimi played and it doesn’t sound quite right when following along the video guess because of that
Yes, it’s absolutely crazy he didn’t do the tutorial in the proper tuning. You can’t play along with him without tuning your guitar incorrectly. After the big speech at the beginning of the video about how you needed to take his tutorial to get all the detail to play it properly, and he couldn’t be bothered to tune his guitar correctly? You’ve got to be kidding me! Most will come to a tutorial tuned properly and ready to learn. How many are going to stay if the instructor can’t even tune correctly?
I first started trying to learn this song in 1992 with a tablature book I bought at a record store. That is one hell of a way to try to learn a Hendrix Song lol. The way you play it sounds so beautiful. Thanks for helping me finally figure that song out.
Very good job! I like that you're clear and concise and you keep the thing moving along. But you don't skip over anything and you grab those all-important details. Will you be posting the rest of the song?
Just WOW. Aside from Paul Davids, who we all know is phenomenal I've never seen a song so concisely deconstructed, explained and taught. How you don't have 1M subscribers from this beautiful video alone is a mystery. Thank you for putting out such incredible work.
And i was wondering why most of the other tutorials sound really different from the original. Thanks a lot for this one! Have you done a tutorial on the rest of the song?
Soooo helpful! Like a sonic sculptor, your lesson helps reveal the beautiful sculpture within these blocks of notes. I'm finally getting it to sound right. Thank you!
Super lezione, complimenti! Sulle strofe cantate i fraseggi cambiano molto rispetto all'intro: hai qualche particolare consiglio da dare? Grazie ancora!
Grazie Davide 💛 direi solo di cercare di mantenere lo stesso feel, poi sul cantato magari meglio liberarsi un po’ ☺️

Thank you for your gift Alberto Lombardi great instructions and you enjoy and feel the song Thanks for the backtracking too. I think it's great there are people like you who take the time to share their skills with others
I’ve been thinking out my subscriptions to “learn how to play” channels but Little Wing is why I picked up the guitar again and your run through is fantastic so I’m a subscriber now. It’s the little details that make this song what it is and so I’m greatful for your making this video. I have a few questions like the tuning and your amp settings.
nice job Alberto. I was wondering if I could get your email? I have a mp3 file that we recorded of Little Wing a few years back. Would like to get your opinion on it. very clean live recording done by professionals. its a three piece, no over dubbing just the way we sound. would really appreciate if you could give it a listen and let me know what you think. thanks Malone
I would also like to complement you on your camera angles well you can actually see how it’s done and where I’ve made a lot of mistakes or at least I call it truncated
Am i deaf or are all these Little Wing tutorials wrong about the first lick? I keep listening to it and he plays a goddamn slide between A and B and not a hammer on! All tutorials show a hammer on and it makes me crazy. Can I get at least one more nerd with me on this?!
One of my favorite! Such a great tutorial, I am disappointed that I didn't find your channel until just recently, and I cannot believe this video doesn't have a million views!
Great video. Very helpful. I agree that the nuances are very important to recognize and understand when it comes to learning a song like Little Wing even if you choose to play it differently.
Te había visto alguna vez..hoy ii payed attention. I use to lissten ti songs and then i learn little wing is one if these songs you start..after a while,. ..aarg i just dint find It;!! @@albertolombardimusic thank, you,, Alberto, you ,from The begining if that increíble song,u recognice The sound was 👍,The notes,The rythm, and (my fingers dont do what i tell them to do )specially The thumb, above the .mast, but its rwlly Playing this song is a challenge, (neither, I'm Not a beginner, but you know what Jimmy is like when you start playing a song like this.
Fantastic Sir I appreciate your attention to detail and I have to say I believe your transcription of this piece is the most accurate one I have seen. I am looking forward to seeing more of your Content!
@@albertolombardimusic Because you're a fan of Jimi I'm wondering if you know about Frank Marino from Canada? I would love to see you post one of his tunes. I especially love his strange universe album. Cheers Alberto!
Thanks so much for this tutorial I’m very grateful to you. I find this piece so magical and unearthly, it’s strange, dark, and so beautiful. To me it feels like something that isn’t written and played, but music which flows effortlessly from another place or dimension and Jimmy is the conduit that the music flows through. It is so different, I love it, thank you 🙏🏼 😊 🎸
thank you for the very detailed tutorial!! i've been learning about 6 months and this really puts the spotlight on things i wanted to know: rhythm, timing, and dynamics. i transcribed my own tab based on this video to get it down full. i also hear some tempo variation in the original record - do you think so? this is the best type of song tutorial i have seen! appreciate your fidelity to the original record. thanks alberto :)
Great lesson 👍 Sounds close enough to the original for my money, so I've saved this to my guitar song lessons playlist 😆 You should do a lesson on the Derek and the Dominos cover version of Little Wing as well mate 😎👍
Ciao Alberto. All the details and dynamics you described make this tutorial exquisitely helpful. Looking forward to see more of these lessons. Thanks a lot
@@albertolombardimusic And it works! I have to stay your explanation and the way you film your guitar is really good. I've been working on little wing years ago and the few tips you give are realy usefull and make the difference. Thanks again for teaching. I know what to do for the next evenings !
Thats great Alberto, I to have played this for many years, I see now not quite right, well , I just tried to work it out by ear, I'm glad I found this, will get it right now!! Love your teaching style to, relaxing but exacting..
Thank you for taking the time to bring up the people trying to better their technique. I have spent all afternoon watching and re-watching it and taking this lesson A note at a time. You really do this song justice and you serve your audience well sir. thank you again for the time all the best to you. And yes I did subscribe looking forward to more. Be well Alberto
Right way? Do you want note for note Hendrix or do you want much more melodic and beautiful SRV? Sting's flute and bass version? Hendrix never played at the same way twice there is no right way!
Great work, Alberto! It's about 95% the same as the way I've played it for decades, but you've filled in some gaps, not to mention played it more fluidly and faithfully than I have. Looking forward to checking out more of your stuff.
Respect for your understanding and infinite details on one of the greatest musicians we have had the honour to have witnessed in our lifetime, I’m sure you are correct in that he will be remembered as one of the classic’s a hundred years from now
@@albertolombardimusic awesome, cant wait. I have subscribed after seeing this video immediately. Will enjoy rest of your content now. For such full lesson of little wing made by you i sure many would like to pay $ and ill be the first one to buy it.
Your playing is awesome and your teaching is too! Wish I discovered you sooner! You are seriously pro level Alberto! Thanks for helping us average guys out
You're very good teacher you came from the past and take me to the future in my life lwant toplay the onlyone song it's name" little wing" l'm 66 Thai people l must remember you
This is an incredible tutorial. What a breakdown. Thanks. Now, is there a tutorial on how the sing against these rhythmically complicated riffs? How anyone can sing and play this is amazing.
Alberto: This was the most enjoyable guitar tutorial video I have watched. You did an excellent job of demonstrating and explaining the nuances of Jimi's most beautiful piece of work. For me Little Wing is the Holy Grail of Jimi Hendrix music and is a perfect example of how 'less is more'. I still have my 1961 Stratocaster from when I was a kid and I am now 66 years. So, it is needless to say that I have always wanted to master this song and do this guitar justice. One of the parts that has eluded me all these years is that odd "C chord" with the A note slipped in there. I never really knew why it sounded that way even though I typically have a very good ear for picking things out. YOU figured it out and it has brought me closer to my goal of understanding this short but wonderful piece of music. Thank you for sharing your talent and skills.
Thank you, a comment like yours is really the reason why I do these tutorials, so we can share our passion for the details. Thank you for that! And man I envy your 61 strat..
Clinton Carrington You pretty much nailed those comments about Alberto kid. He's really good and that's possibly my favorite Hendrix song. I just heard this talented teacher a few minutes ago. I had to comment on your 61 Strat and your 66 years on the planet. I have a killer 61 Strat that I love and I turned 67 a couple of months ago. Cheers mates
@@eblake021 Thanks, Ed. I could write a book about what this guitar has been through with me over the past 51 years. What a ride it's been. This is my baby and oldest friend all at the same time. I'm sure you know that feeling. Happy New Year.
And you might learn a couple things from me, the last slide on the low E string is with my thumb from A to B to G all with the thumb, and the minor second stretch, just before that, is a chord that can be played on all 6 strings swept to the hi open E string, sounds super pretty.
@@albertolombardimusic the studio version is to my liking but one particular rendition of little wing that just stands above all forget where it was done but its a live version thats just beautiful, its difficult getting jimi down i think you done a great job.
