I think Littler's steamrollering of Kist was extraordinary, but he definitely looked beatable tonight and could have been in all kinds of trouble if Gilding had hit his doubles. I still think he's an extraordinary talent for a 16 year old but perhaps not superhuman after all. Still, this proves that even when he's not playing at his best he can still grind out a result which is an important skill that will serve him well. I think he probably got a good draw in round 1; having been a previous world champion Kist felt like a massive scalp for such a young and inexperienced kid to take but actually he's done very little in the last decade and prior to his match against Littler hadn't played on a WC stage for six years. He was well rusty and had struggled to get out of the first round even in the last few WCs he had played in. As he progresses in the tournament Littler will come up against much tougher opposition and I don't think he has a prayer of winning the title this year, but I do think it'll be a top guy who knocks him out and I can see him progressing to the quarters or semis.
@@marcusmclean3842I wouldn’t say Deliberately slow. Gilding just takes his time. Luckily for Luke, he has an easier opponent in the next round against Campbell
As a German I'm glad Clemens won and that he played good in my Opinion. It was a good game too. Leung played well and i really appreciate his sportmanship to clap for good Checkouts from Clemens. I'm sure we will see him more often from now on.
Echt, oh. Da hab ich wohl nicht genau genug hingeguckt. Das sah aus wie ein Klatschen. Naja, ich gehe trotzdem mal davon aus, dass er ein Sportsmann ist xD. Aber danke für die Aufklärung:)
Its remarkable how good luke is for a 16 year old however I think tonight showed he was human. I would also add gildings poor play may of contributed to the huge fall in Lukes averages. Nevertheless the bookies having him as 4th favourite to win the worlds above the likes of Anderson and smith was quite frankly ridiculous in saying that I’m looking forwards to seeing how Luke does against the top players
Gildings poor play? You are clearly clueless. He done pretty well considering the circumstances and hype, was 100% on the doubles for a good while, should have won the first set. Luke just won the bigger moments. Both averaged 92 which would of been around a ton each if it wasn’t for missed doubles, and the game could of gone either way
He's only 4th favourite because so many people started putting money on him after his first performance, not because the bookies think he's actually more likely to win than Anderson or Smith
Littler is amazing to watch and a very, very special young player. However with respect he’s a long way to go and the hype by the commentators, bookies etc etc needs reining in. I wish him all the best, he’s got life to deal with, the hype and everything that comes with, I’m sure the people around will protect him but as we know it’s not always that easy. It’s been a great tournament and amazing standard so far. 🎯🎯🎯💜🇬🇧
Would be great if Scott Williams reached the top ten. Great personality for Darts TV. Hate him or love him type. Flipping off Luke Humphries was classic RU-vid moment.
Remarkable Luke but sky sports already crapping on with convo and graphics showing Luke’s “possible route to the final”? As good as he is Gilding gave that game to him with so many missed doubles. Had he hit HALF of the doubles he missed he would have won in straight sets. As usual though media going well ahead of themselves
At least it's taken attention away from the hype train known as Fallon Sherrock. She's starting to become nauseating through no fault of her own just because of the PDC.
@@stuffwithsoph8264 Yes she is good. That isn't being disputed. But the hype train around her is sickening and I'm fed up of her. If she looked like Lisa Ashton would she be given the same coverage? No. But because she's young and moderately attractive she gets more airtime. I just want her to get hype where it's merited, not just because she's a woman. She deserved it a few years ago but she played so bad the other night, and her mini-tantrums on stage were embarrassing.
Luke Littler was an immaculate conception, born of a virgin.... and a new star appeared in the sky, with Bristow, Taylor & Priestly bearing gifts of gold, frankincense & myrrh. This will be his 1st major victory. Bless Luke and all the other littler Littlers. Heil Littler!
If i wasn't told i would of thought littler looked in his late twenties.Hard to believe he's 16 🤔 Gilding bottled it tbh.He broke littlers throw at least 4 times & got to a double first many times.Fair play to littler he doesn't seem to show any nerves on stage in front of that crowd & at the biggest tournament on debut is very impressive. He could go far in this tournament considering the way his section of the draw had opened up with some big names going out.I think he can get to the quarter finals.
totally right , for me too . He was on a rampage of exceptional darts . Now , Noppert has been nowhere his 75% best all year round but hey , Scott used this match to elevate his darts quality to a very exciting level for the next round .
Contrary to most here, I think Littler being able to win a match like this is honestly going to do more for his confidence than the first match. I still think he's a contender for the title, not necessarily a favourite, but he's definitely still in the conversation.
I remember back in the days of John Lowe; When John got a good score or won the set, he'd give a wry little smile. Nowadays, nothing short of bursting a blood vessel will do, ha ha. 🎯🎯🎯
My concern with littler is he’s peaked way to early at 16 to hit a 103 average at the worlds in his debut and then drop off significantly today shows that okay he got the win but by no means will that performance scare the top guys and with all the added pressure and publicity littler has from this tournament it could hinder his future it’s happened In other sports the natural behind closed doors progression is so important he’s been thrown into the brights way to early all you can hope is the top dogs in the tournament don’t beat him to badly and he still has his confidence going forwards but will be fascinating to see him vs Barney
After the first win he went immediately to a kebab and cokes and fantas. I predict he'll blow up before he becomes a champion darter...... after this win he probably went for two kebabs and multiple sugar waters.
Already seeing people criticising a 16 year old kid who just beat the 20th seed player in his second match. Every player has bad moments in games, but he was never under pressure of losing. Showed great character to close out the game even during a bad spell. No doubt he will step it up in the next round.
Eric bristow would have loved to see Luke littler, now we are going back in time,me and my close friends, Eric/ steve brown,/,bobby/Dave lee/richie/,I must admit richie got me in national cup,,surrey tavern had just won cup.long story I moved from west country county player, moved to surrey, established myself landed up playing in Putney for Northumberland arms,in super league man trr were some good players, in league, I remember meeting one of players in Northumberland arms,Alan chapman,he was county player for London, he got Eric bristow in b team and then in a team, good memories
Luke Littler is astounding, and despite his huge talent, is clearly inexperienced at this level, for obvious reasons. He will be a player nobody wants to play, as he is a threat to anyone at his best.
With how amazing Littler is and especially beating someone who competes in tournaments around the world in Andrew Gilding. It is great but I need evidence to think he is 16, no way.
So Leung, farewell, auf weidesehen.... goodnight.......goodnight. Clemens looked the future Josh Rock. I could hit a very crisp 4 iron off the top of his hair.
Impressive for his age? Obviously. An exciting prospect of a player? Absolutely. But darts is nothing if not a humbling game. You have nobody else to lean on in these games, you have to be in control of your own mind and Littler evidently still has a lot to learn. He's 16 so it's to be expected. But somebody needs to have a word with the commentators and the bookies. He's exciting to watch, but he hasn't won anything yet. Rein it in a bit.
He won a lot of events already, and not just junior titles. Surely he has a lot to learn still, but not a beginner by any means. This is a huge test for him, but he's going to have many opportunities to come back here to win this.
