best part about these guys even though they don't pretend to worship the great beast, or the dude on the side of the can of deviled ham, they probably still scare the little old church ladies
For people talking shit about this song being boring or too repetitive dont ever listen to DOOM /Stoner Metal like SLEEP and Bongripper... they fuckin rule
@@lexi.cmk.turner The comment aged perfectly fine. New drummer is pretty good, and having a real drummer really ties up this band real good. I didn't like the way stuff sounded when they toured with a drum machine.
liam walters When I was a teenager, in the 90's, it was common to hear black metal band members say that black metal "was not about the music". Well, Liturgy is definitely about the music. It's about great music!
liam walters A lot of it comes from Hunter's stupidity. His comments on Liturgy and Black Metal are just idiotic. But hey, he makes up for his lack in intelligence with musical creativity because Liturgy kicks ass.
TheKevlar4, you cannot separate Hunter's ideias about Black Metal from his musical creativity. If you do it, you are missing the point of his music. Of course to enjoy his music, you can sure not give a damn about his ideas. I hope people do it about Burzum. But Hunter is able to do what he does because of what he thinks about Black Metal and what he wrote in his Transcendental Black Metal manifesto, for instance. His ideas about what Black Metal is and what he is currently bringing musically to the scene are exactely the same. They match perfectely. Fans can say, fuck you that's not what black metal is, that's not what black metal should become, black metal should not be different things, black metal should be pure and not receive different influences. They can say whatever they want, because they are free to think and give their opinion about their own culture. But to say that Hunter is stupid and then say that he is good musically but his ideas about his music (which is what allows him to make that music) are idiotic, makes no sense. What people feel, I think, is that he is arrogant and petulant. And I agree he is, a little bit. But, then again, it is hard to find another niche where fans are as arrogant and violent about their opinions as in black metal. Compared to most balck metal fans (and a fan does not produce music, so he has little to say about music) Hunter is just a tender, harmless sweet little young intelectual nerd. In black metal when someone raises the issue of nazi ideas in lyrics and the scene) usually fans say "if you can't take it, fuck off, black metal is not for the weak". If that is not arrogant and rationally self-defeating, (and absolutelly idiotic) I don't know what is. And tell me if that is not frequent in discussions about Black Metal culture. By the way... because if you came this far, you must be wondering: yes, I love black metal. But I hate purism and for me it's all about the music and the musicians, not the fans.
***** Well, I don't think they really care about that. The last album is a departure from what we could call a black metal sound. They are musicians. They play music. And good music. You can think is garbage, that's fine. But the way to know if it's garbage or not is not to compare it to a standard of black metal, and if they get too far away, they fail. They don't care, they never did. Most bands don't. Black metal bands, some do. They used to say "It's not about the music." Well, I call that garbage, when my standard is good music. Go and start a cult, not a band.
hainish I'm not criticizing him for changing black metal. The way he explains his beliefs about black metal and how Liturgy is different just sounds like a 14 year old explaining why Slipknot is so good. It sounds like something you'd find someone post on their Facebook walls.
i dont get it. the music isnt developing, 100 times the same part and then just 2 ore 3 changes of melodie in the whole thing and that in a speed you fall asleep at. Sorry but, boooooring.
It's a shame you're not moved by this. I personally think it's a great piece. Anyway, the greatness of music is that it affects everyone in a unique way!
liturgy>burzum and I fucking love burzum people like you are the problem with black metal and why it is dying why dont you just let people innovate a genre? u know like burzum did with atmospheric black metal
Not sure what y’all are loving about this. Other than the drummer, who I guess is ok, this is like 16 yr old jamming in the garage with your friends music
Why? because they don't wear corpse paint? "I thought metal was the one form of music where fashion played 98787th fiddle to the music?" -Hunter Hunt-Hendrix (awesome name)
What are they doing here? I like the drummer here, he's got some great chops. The bass player he plays good to. The guitarist can kiss my ass..... I was playing more complicated shit than that when I was 14. And no, this is not black metal. This is some sort of.... I don't know. It doesn't go anywhere. Music needs to move, it needs to grow, progress, fucking do something!! This will be he first and last song I listen to by this band. Okay I figured it out, it's more like an old school classic rock band that had too much acid and just kept playing the same song over and over and over......
marshall I like the riffs, who gives a fuck about "CoMpLiCaTeD RiFS" ..riffs are supposed to be badass and I think its badass and black sabbath and Soundgarden like.
