I've heard it's because they're losing their copyright to some of the older characters, so they're making live action movies to renew the copyright. But as for the more recent characters and movies, I don't get it either 🤷 (I've also seen ppl saying the remakes don't actually extend copyright so idk)
@jessicaj104 I think it did start out as a copyright thing and some of the newer ones are definitely bc of copyright but I think they keep doing the princesses back to back because they know how much people react when they don't do casting the way people want and it gives them free advertising the more people talk about it. The little mermaid remake did well bc there was controversy but Halle is still a great singer so people came to see it/review
@@jessicaj104 I don't know how true that is, it may be true for some movies, but characters or titles like Cinderella, Snow White or Little Mermaid aren't copyrighted since they're public domain. Think about how many adaptations exist about Cinderella or Snow White for instance, and there's at least one adaptation for the Little Mermaid that doesn't belong to Disney. My theory is that these live actions are meant to be easy cash grabs.

Anika Noni Rose who voiced Tiana is to “mature looking.” Lupita looks more youthful than Anika, but not enough. Can she even sing? Coco Jone I think would be best for the roll. Still young looking, can sing, and is no stranger to working for Disney.

Seriously what is “Strange world” and “elemental” like what happened to the great classics like beauty and the beast, sleeping beauty, Snow White, the princess and the frog. Those movies were such a big part of my childhood. And one that rarely is seen but was my all time favorite, thumbelina 😂. I remember coming home from daycare and planting myself on my parents bed and watching it on their tv. I will always have a place in my heart for thumbelina

I'm sorry but I don't think Lupita is young and pretty enough to play this princess. She is great as a warrior princess and somehow I think she has almost chosen her niche of acting, a masculine warrior princess. I feel like Coco Jones and Normani or a lookalike would ve perfect for this role. NOT Lupita. They're just picking her because she has an Oscar.
I just think people are confused since Lupita’s casting roles have always been as this badass hero and warrior type character. I saw her in person and got to escort her to a few different places. Her gaze is like NOTHING I’ve ever seen before. So much more intense than what you see in pictures/movies. Unexplainable. I still get chills thinking about it.
I’ve searched everywhere on the Internet and the only “confirmation” about a live action Princess and the Frog is from a Disney fansite podcast. So while it will probably come out somewhere in the far future, I would probably take this current “official confirmation” with a grain of salt for now.
Disney, there are so many more fairytales you can still animate. Hansel and Gretel, Thumbelina, Princess and the Pea, Twelve Dancing Princesses, Rumpelstilskin, Pied Piper, Little Red Riding Hood, Swan Lake, etc. Any of these could be great movies if you decided to stop redoing the same stories
I'm already scared of how they'll do Charlotte (Tiana's best friend), seeing how yes she is spoiled in the animation but had a good heart and was willing to help Tiana. With how Disney is doing live actions now these days.. and everything in whole, I'm worried they'll play her as an annoying character.
She’s never stopped working for Disney. Marvel is owned by Disney. She just stopped working for Disney channel. But Zendaya has said before that she would not take roles meant for dark skinned women so I doubt she even consider this

Yeah, that's something that people don't think about. All the animals are going to be these shitty looking, Uncanny Valley abominations. The reason unrealistic animal characters work in 2D is because 2D animation doesn't look realistic so the characters human expressions and exaggerated features are endearing instead of off putting.
