100 percent agreed!...i got this game on quite a random hunch....best decision ever!...GTA V with all its amazing vehicular options still doesnt have anything on this....this game just had some X factor that made it so much more enjoyable
Shray And a lot of people who loved this game thought GTAV was going to be better than it... GTAIV sucked ass compared to this game, so no real comparison there. This game just happens to be one of the best open-world games out there. Period.
This game holds a special place in my heart as I was born in Hong Kong but immigrated to Canada since I was 4...and I never went back. I'm now almost close to my University graduation. I still speak a bit of Cantonese as my grandparents can't speak English (no subtitles needed XD) but my parents still frequently watch HK drama & movies which let me get glimpses of how my birthplace looks like. While it isn't a one-one scale, Sleeping Dogs environment really makes me want to go back once I get my degree.
leereturn2006 Haha, no really my father's side of the family is huge and I have lots of cousins whom I do not even know living in HK. Also doesn't help my grandmother living in HK also shows early signs of alzheimer so if I don't go now I would eventually have to for a even worse reason.

Kedarrius Simpson Well there's Donnie Yen's movie "Special ID" which is fairly similar to Sleeping Dogs. Though I'd prefer Sleeping Dogs storyline haha.
Sleeping Dogs is honestly the best open world game I have ever played, I wish there's a sequel to Wei Shen's Story ... Please ! .... or . . . A movie ! .. . T_T Wei Shen The Best !
danny yapp Because of the game ending, I don't think there will be a sequel to Wei Shen's story. Maybe a prequel for Dog Eyes or Winston. That would be pretty cool. But I really hope there isn't a sequel to Wei Shen. Cause I like the ending just how it is.
danny yapp There technically *IS* a continuation to the game's story in Year Of the Snake (one of the many DLC's of the game.) It continues it pretty damn well, actually. And for Killa who thinks the ending was fine how it was, you must have not played that DLC. (P.S. There were a few images of the next game being made a couple years ago by one of the people at Square Enix, so that's happening...)
Sleeping Dogs > GTA V Because its way more interactive, gta V is a bit boring.. and c'mon i'm tired of los angeles and NY city and i've never been there.. lol we want something fresh like hong kong... go for cities like Paris, london, something other than saturated USA.. ( if any person from game development is reading this. ( i have sleeping dogs for the PS3 )
***** Well for starters, you have the "Face" missions, then you have the "Girlfriend" missions, shit loads of collectibles, Lots of story, it took me around 20 hours to complete the story and some extras, there's also karaoke. And pork buns. Don't for get the pork buns. With GTA V may have a lot of story, the psycho missions, (or what ever they're called) the shrink and the heist thing, aside from multiplayer, it gets kinda boring and it's not as interactive. That may be because I haven't completed the whole campaign, (my neighbor told me it took him 2 days to beat the story) I feel that GTA V is just less interactive.
Killa5109 i have already beaten gta v and i thoght it wasn't enough... i was expecting more story! for god sake you have 3 main characters, and they could've done more indevidual missions for each, like separate stories instead of all being connected.. regarding sleeping dogs.. it is great, i've played so much and i still didn't finnish the story. ( in my point of view i can never get enough of story )

had a big urge to play gta 5 and got sleeping dogs off steam for 5 bucks. i actually wanted to do the side missions, i loved the story (which doesnt happen in this type of game) i loved the driving, the jacking,.shit even the gunplay and when you vault and slow down..its actually why i didnt even want to play watch dogs >.> and wei shen..wei shen is one badass mutha. quite likable as well
Precisely,Wei was actually a good protagonist(and a badass one at that),he had awesome lines(FUCK Dogeyes!) and was a REAL character .Sleeping Dogs has a true combat system(who cares if it is ripped off from Batman?),while GTA V has a punch and a kick command,and its characters don't even try to fight correctly(when throwing a punch,they seem to be dancing like idiots).GTA's story is a series of random events revolving around 3 generic protagonists that are nothing more than criminals with no justification behind their acts(a bland rich guy,a hobo homie,and an unoriginal psycho). Also,Sleeping Dogs has got this amazing trailer,while GTA's trailers were simply....lame
Just bought the game a few days ago, it is amazing ! Decent graphics, story is really good character development too with awesome hand to hand combat and a lot of action! Side missions are fun too, you can even go on a date with Emma Stone haha I dont get it why people praise Gta so much...I like this game more :)
Games that are popular amongst to the community are always praised.Naturally people are going to gravitate to something they have heard of or at least played ONCE. Regardless of the story. Now a days people are focused more on the graphics cheat codes, gore and explosives. No one ever pays attention to the actual story they just care about how many explosives, kill counts and getting the highest score possible. Shame, such a shame. Games that do not fall under the category of popularity amongst the public tend to be better. NOT ALWAYS, but some of the time. FF VI for instance. No one has ever really played the game, they always play seven. always because they decide to go off of someone else opinion rather than try something different.
This will always be one of my favorite trailers of all time. Live action, super bad ass, looks amazing and represents the features of the game pretty accurately. Love it.
True crime games were always fun, sad that they aren’t done anymore, New York City was the first I liked the most other tha LA, need LA and NY remastered for PS4, or at least brought to ps4
I strongly believe SquareEnix will bring this back even if the original developer United Front Games shut down. Look at Nier, the sequel was made by a different developer and it's also a SquareEnix IP. This game is better than any GTA.

This game has a certain essence to it..a feeling which I can't describe..when I started playing the story mode, I couldn't play any other game till I finished it..I was totally enroped in its universe 😍
That is how Face level supposed to work but the game just skip it in make Wei has reach Face level 10 which make him famous in the entire city because his good act even in early game where he still new guy in the city.

Spiffy no actually, lie as in sleep. The sleeping dogs are the dangerous triads that Wei is touching them and not letting them lie. It's said that waking up a sleeping dog is a very bad idea, clearly Wei faced consequences near the end of the game for doing so.
