"Trespassers will be Eaten" a real Sign at that Real Croc Farm, which was owned a fella named Kananga, and did the run across the Crocadile Bridge. It took several Takes, and you can see one Croc actually grab his pant cuff. More like Buford T Justice is trying to be like J W Pepper Look at the various cuts downstream of the Boat jump, several Takes spliced together, with no Continuity. One clip shows the GT 150 speeding away straight, then the next shows it right close to the road going diagonally, then it shows it waiting for the second boat to land in the water, before taking off

Well done you guys, for noticing the references to Dr. No. It's actually quite funny, considering they did a few things in this movie to set Moore's portrayal of Bond apart from Connery's. For example, he doesn't yet drink the classic Vodka Martini, but instead opts for Whiskey. He also uses a different gun than a Walter PPK. The book Live and Let Die was actually published before Dr. No, so in the book it was Quarrel who helped Bond out, but since he had already gotten killed off in Dr. No the filmmakers decided to create Quarrel Jr. The scenes with the crocs and alligators were filmed on a crocodile farm run by man named Ross Kananga. He was also the one who performed the stunt of jumping over the animals. He did that 4 times in total and snapped at quite a bit. Injured his foot during one take, but the filmmakers were so thankful to him that they named the villain Kananga after him. In the book he was just Mr. Big. I totally agree with you that the villain ensemble in this movie is great. Such a brilliant cast of talented black actors. And I love that each henchman has a very specific purpose: Baron Samedi for the voodoo magic and to strike fear in the population of the Island, Tee Hee as the muscle, Whisper for the lower level kind of jobs, even that taxi driver. All of them are so charismatic and unique. But Yaphet Koto as Dr. Kananga is certainly the highlight. He just exudes class and intelligence, but also is intimidating. And I also agree that Moore gave a very good, solid first performance in the role. He plays the character as more of a gentleman spy. Less aggressive than Connery, with more quips. He can definitely pull off more coldblooded scenes, but preferred to play the character lighthearted, which you'll see over his long tenure as Bond. I think my main problem with LALD is that some of the action falls a bit flat for me. Guy Hamilton, the same director from Goldfinger and Diamonds are Forever (and the next movie you'll be watching) did this one and some of his chase scenes just bore me. Not so much the boat chase in this one. I quite like that one, but the whole airplane sequence just feels entirely unnecessary and the bus chase also tends to feel underwhelming to me. I always felt like Hamilton liked to have the bad guys just drive off into a ditch for no good reason. On the character of Sheriff J.W. Pepper: I totally get the dislike for the character, but he was actually written into the film as a way to parody the racist authorities, who threatened to shut down filming, because the crew had black stuntmen and truck drivers. The filmmakers ultimately succeeded in getting through with filming, but the wrote in this character as sort of a "fuck you" to those racist Louisiana authorities.

And Sheriff Pepper is back in "The Man With the Golden Gun" ..... I supposed he's a reformed racist because he helps Bond.

This is one of the funnest Bond films. Silly, didn't take itself too seriously and Roger Moore was awesome.

Yeah you need to get used to the puns for the Moore Era. Sir Roger knew he couldn't be Sean so he decided not to be and took things in a new direction with humor instead. In fact, this is probably the darkest of his Bond movies. In truth, he stayed in the role too long but he clearly had so much fun that it was hard to say no I guess. He was such a wonderful man away from the cameras too, always had time for the fans and did wonders with his UNICEF work.

Ahhh yes! 16 year old me loved the theme song and the sillyness of this one so much that I named my first car "Solitaire" in honor of Jane Seymour's character! Looking forward to the next one as the main villian is one of my TOP 3 Bond villians! :-) Keep it up- we're watching with ya happily!

The title song by Paul McCartney and WINGS really slaps! Guns N Rose's did a cover version 20 years later.

Felix was played by David Hedison who's first big part was as 'The Fly' in the fifties. Julius Harris (Tee Hee) was in this but I also remember him from 'Salty' a kids show about a Sea lion. I never noticed it before but the actress who played Rosie was doubled by a white guy who got thrown onto the bed. She mentioned it in the Cosby documentary!

My first ever Bond film, so there's a lot of nostalgic love for this one. Some troubling racial politics in it, but overall a far, far better film than it probably should've been. A very game cast and a fun debut for Moore. I don't think he'll quite get the full handle on the role until his 3rd entry (The Spy Who Loved Me). Keep up the good work guys!

Fun reaction Nick and Jen! Welcome to the Moore era! Lots of fun to be had, albeit with TONS of silliness, although that doesn’t take over for another couple of films.
