Live Annotated Monitor Mix Walk Through on the Avid S6L-32D audio console.
I have been doing a lot of monitor mixing lately and take a slightly different approach. I end up building a FOH mix + click & talkback mics for myself on my LR buss and then trim a post-fade aux buss for the band. CCV Music ends up having 11 lead vocalists throughout the night and the band needs to hear the main vocals of the songs without the background vocals. Using this mix approach helps tailor each song for the band.
This was recorded during the live album of Light & Shadow recording in March of 2019 at the Grand Canyon University Arena. See more at music.ccv.church/

Wow, if you can keep up that way of working through an entire show every night, you are really at the right place. And I hope with that intensity during the show the production lets you off on most of the load in and more importantly the load out.

@erikluper2677
@erikluper2677 4 года назад
Benjamin - what usually happens in a workflow like this is each individual’s instruments and mics (other than the lead vocal) are pre-fader. From there MONs can mix the show as if they are FOH allowing any solos, rides, specials, etc. to show up in the band’s ears at the appropriate spot in the song without any significant changes to each individual musicians instrument levels. Works quite well, tends to make the musicians on stage feel like they’re getting a “mix” of the show, not just a static level like you would in an Aviom or similar system.

@poxcr

He's not. This is just a general FOH style mix for the whole band, with each separate IEM mix being just a trim off the main mix.

Anyone else noticed the large number of church singers that are completely tone deaf. The guy can sing but he just doesn’t register notes. Like you should be able to hear the first note of the song and not have to think about it ever again and be pitch perfect. It’s a great mixing demo but clearly somethings failing along the lines that this guy can’t hear how off he is. Perhaps there needs to be a keyboard track in the background just playing a solid note for the singer to hear. Or churches just have to stop heading to Mic’s to anybody who wants to come up on stage :-)

Do you sing bro? Every singer ever, sounds like this without being tuned. With the exceptions of those who have perfect pitch, or those who are rediculously trained!! This is what a perfectly acceptable raw vocal performance sounds like pre tune.

This was great. Only thing is that I would add antaras autotune to help of the singers if they can't really sing well. Otherwise, great upload!

@brianbauer3148 3 года назад
@@agustinvargas1180 it looks like the zlx has a powered (amp built in) and passive model (external amp) if you have the powered version you could daisy chain them. The only thing is the output of the speaker is affected by the volume control. So each speaker down the line would be affected by the volume of the one before it. You could get around that by using a xlr splitter at each speaker.

Imagine the money to missions instead of buying million dollar equipment. Today's church has lost it's way. Buying experience and rock concerts instead of making disciples.

@StageShout

Nor do I. The statement is that a rock concert is not needed to make disciples. Million dollar equipment buys butts in seats like filling a stadium. Christ centered is not concerts and light shows. It's a message that convicts and makes disciples. If you go for concerts, it's for the wrong reason. Many worship pastors struggle with this question every day but today's churchs focus on experience instead of discipleship. Go and make disciples....not go and make a rock concert. Many time we hear people say they go to a church for the music....isnt that sad. They should go because the message brings conviction and is Christ centered. So have churchs lost thier way? Needs to be addressed. All those concert goers certainly fill the seats now dont they. Is that how we fill churchs? With concert goers? If so...go see Justin Timberlake

@StageShout
@StageShout 4 года назад
@@dinospd The question must be asked....... Is it about filling seats? Or is it about making disciples? Pop culture churches are cramped selling experience...over relationship. Experience and filling seats
