Proving price gouging is difficult under the best of circumstances. Several major retailers are under investigation by the FTC. For the last 3 years the corporations insisted they had to increase prices due to covid supply interruptions. This has just recently been proven false by the FTC.
Energy costs are up. Rents have gone up. It's gonna cost me more now to produce a product than it did a few years ago. That cost isn't written as a loss to my company. The cost is passed on to the consumer. I know it's easy to blame companies but this administration needs to examine its policies and see where they've helped drive up costs.

Did you know that we currently produce more oil per day than several countries combined and more than double the next closest producer which is Russia? If costs are increasing soooo much then how come all these major retailers reported record profits? I am in awe of how both Kamala and Biden are appraising those around them. The type of people who get ahead by cooperating with others and being humble and respectful towards others, not pushing others down for own gain. And though I can't imagine rising to the top without any thirst of power or fighting to win, I also cannot imagine them fighting to get this bill passed, and fighting of republicans trying to stop affordable care, if they didn't actually care. They have empathy for the less fortunate. In Norway where I'm from I learned when I was about 20 years old, that in USA people get poor from being sick, because they have to pay big money for hospital care, or they have to have insurances that costs. I was completely baffled, as I thought it was only in very poor countries that you didn't get medical help for free or a low affordable fee. It still baffles me, 20 years later, to follow the election and seing things I take for granted is still an issue over there. Biden is obviously too old for this job the next coming years, he is slowing down and won't be able to keep up. But this speech were clear-headed enough not to fear he's suffering from dementia and can't rule. He will go out with dignity. Price gouging of pharmaceutical drugs makes no sense to me; if you as a company charge medications so much that many potential customers can't afford them, then how are you going to make money off those medications in the long-term with only the wealthy top percentage of the population being able to afford them? I think The U.S. Federal Government needs to have some form of price control to ensure that we don't pay an absurd amount for prescriptions compared to other developed countries. If a bottle of pills in say Germany costs $6.00, that same bottle of pills shouldn't cost more then 50% extra here in The U.S., which would be $9.00 in this case. I'm not saying pharmaceutical companies don't deserve to make profit for their research & development, but they shouldn't be able to charge insane prices for their life saving products that most uninsured Americans can't afford.

The reason why drug prices are out of control is due to “Private ‘For-Profit’ Insurance” combined with the rule outlawing the US Government Medicare program from negotiating lower drug prices, concessions left first created by George W’s and then continued by Obama’s capitulation to the pharmaceutical industry. The Pharmaceutical lobby is too powerful and has too much control over both the democrat and republican parties.
