Live Control | ADJ MyDMX 2.0 [Tutorial 8] 

very informative video as all of your videos! I have discovered a cool trick in Adj MyDMX 2.1 , the trick is about assigning for example each color or each gobo of your fixture on individual button on the midi controller, for example red on first button, green on second button...etc. For achieving that you must go in the left corner click on scene builder, then select the fixture you want to assign buttons to and now for example we assign a particular gobo to a button on the midi controler, so for that click on the gobo wheel choose a gobo from it and left click on it, it will highlight the gobo and now right click on mouse and click the option midi learn and the button you want to assign the gobo to it, just as in the video. I` ve seen that assigning particular colors and gobos on particular buttons works only this way from the scene builder in MyDMX 2.1 I m glad i`ve learned from you how to use MyDMX and even found this trick that i`ve written about here. I also have 2 questions: does MyDMX 2.1 work with other usb dmx interfaces other than the original one? and does MyDMX 2.1 sends midi signals back to the midi controller so that the buttons backlight goes on and off when pushed (just like on Chauvet ShowXpress,they have that feature). I have a Enttec USB DMX PRO and it seems i couldn`t make it sending any signal to my lights (the box is functional i`ve tested it with the tester on Enttec`s website). Keep up the good work!

Thanks again. I like the Akai Midi controller idea... that way you can control scenes while your MyDMX software is minimized. If using one laptop for lighting AND your DJ control software (Virtual DJ, etc.) it's hard to jump back and fourth and time your scenes well.

I use MyDMX 2.0 alot and i have to say that if there is a MIDI device that works perfectly with this, it is the AKAI apc mini, as it has 9 faders, and over 64 buttons that can be assigned for scenes. Best party is that it only sets you back by £50!

Hello, try using a second extend monitor for your MyDmx 2.0. I did this and you can have full screens on both software to operate it!

Thanks so much for the tutorial. It's waaaaaay easier and faster to learn it with your video. But I've come across an issue: I wanted to trigger my scenes on MyDMX 2.1 using Behringer FCB1010 midi foot controller, learned midi commands and MyDMX 2.1 responds well: I can change scenes from my footpedal but as soon as I connect myDMX Buddy hooked up to the lights, the lights don't react. And if I load MyDMX 2.1 with both MyDMX Buddy and FCB1010 connected, the FCB stops reacting although the midi commands have already been there. The only thing I can do is to trigger the scenes from my PC keyboard; hitting FCB's switches doesn't change scenes. There must be something I'm doing wrong but have no idea how to deal with it. Are you going to do a 3.0 tutorial? I’m struggling with Show Mode

Hi. great tutorials. Is it possible to chain several scenes together into 1 new scene? I have an idea for a setup with either 2, 3 or 4 light colors and positions for 4 moving heads. And I then want to switch to a scene that puts them all full white and in positions to light the whole stage (as best as possible) and probably add 2 or 3 more scenes to that 'macro'. But I also want to be able activate each scene individually.

Great video tutorials. I am thinking of getting into lighting and I'll like to know which software is better, Showxpress or MyDMX 2.1 or 3.0?

Virtual DJ Pro has some extra buttons used for MIDI mapping... Could I map a scene to one of those buttons? How about a button on a MixDeck Quad? I suppose both of those would work!?

You've talked about using a MIDI Controller like Akai LPD8 for cueing scenes in Live mode. Do you know how many cue commands you can issue? For example, I have a show coming up where there are 8 scenes per song. Is it possible to have one bank per 8 scenes?

I like all your dmx videos, but how do you sync all your scenes to the beat of the music?

I purchased that little AKAI LPD8 MIDI controller based on your suggestion... just plugged it in last night and loaded the software. I can't get it to work with MyDMX 2.0. When I open MyDMX I get a MIDI error message and the option to "Learn MIDI Command" is grayed out. Obviously I'm missing something... will mess with it more tonight. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

Hi joe i love this idea i like the( Akai Professional LPD8 ) but i need more pads . but do you think that the (Akai APC Mini) but would work as well on my dmx thanks willsfx

Is it possible to play multiple scenes at once? I mean to overlay a scene like you see it in Quizshows for example when a question is answered correctly. I have searched for it quite a long time but I could never find something out. I would really appreciate your help!

Does the MIDI controller have it's own code commands (eg CTRL+F) programmed in?

I'm not sure why but the ltp and htp selections are not below my faders. any reason why this might be?

Hi, you've helped so much just by uploading these! Thanks! 1 Q... instead of the steps in the editor getting longer and longer until you can't find anything easily in the list... I started splitting each section of music up by scenes thinking the loop1 then play next feature would flow together..however it always stops and you have to manually trigger the next scene... is there not a way to automate one straight in to the next with no stopping? It seems silly as any long music tracks would be a nightmare to edit after in a huge list of steps. I'm currently doing it scene by scene and then copy and pasting all those steps from each scene in to one long scene after. Seems silly considering all the other amazing time saving features there are in this software?

Hi . Great tutorial. You are the MASTER. Everything is clear and to point! One question. I have Korg nanoPAD2 with 8 pads (x 4 scenes =32 pads avaliable for programming scenes) . Easy p&p controller for live controll - very handy. www.korg.com/us/products/computergear/nanopad2/ It has also touchpad ( like in laptop ) for XY values controll. Is it possible to program it to controll Tilt and Pan of the 4 fixtures globally? When i right click in "scene builder" on the grid for Pan/Tilt controll, the "Learn easy remote command" is grayed. Is there a other way how to use touchpad for this purpose? Thanx in advance, and warm greetings from Poland.

Joe, I've watched your entire tutorial series for MyDmx. I've been curious if ADJ has a feature to create a light show synced up with music? I was previously using Chauvet show express and it had a timeline where users can drag and drop there edited scenes into the timeline...

Joe I have a big question! I have a mac as well. I'm currently using it for both mydmx & deejaying. My plan is to get a cheaper PC for mydmx. Can I take my saved file or scenes from Mac & transfer them to PC? This is the saved file format "MYDMX TOTAL S1.dlm" I hope I won't have to start over!
